It apparently takes place between Greed Island and the Chimera Ant (some time before the latter arc begins as it's mentioned that Gon and Killua were traveling with Kite and took a break from that).Years ago before the main timeline, Netero did battle against a man named Jed who could use a mysterious ability known as "On". While he managed to defeat him, Jed vowed his grudge against Netero would never end.In the present time, the Battle Olympia of Heaven's Arena has commenced and Gon and Killua have come back to cheer on Zushi who's participating, meeting up with their former Nen teachers, Wing and Biscuit Kruger. Kurapika is also there, still acting as Neon Nostrade's bodyguard who has shown up to watch the events.
