It seems like it doesn't help and actually makes Snape more hostile towards Harry, Ronnie, Neville, and Hermione. Turns out that Snape DID get in trouble and was lectured by Dumbledore about his behavior. When Harry expressed surprise at this, Snape sarcastically responded that that kind of information isn't for students, even Harry to know. While Harry, Ronnie, Hermione, and Neville had some potions tested on them to see if they would have any effect, Madam Pomfrey refused to continue as certain potions had horrible reactions if mixed with others. Snape's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Harry is cut short by Hagrid, who calls Snape out for bringing up his childhood and tells him to grow up. Horrible upbringings shouldn't be a reason for bullying others, and considering the audience at the time (Harry and Hagrid), Snape wasn't just being immature with his rant, but also self-centered. Rita Skeeter's xenophobic article brings up negative opinions of Muggles Up to Eleven, especially since it detailed Harry, a known celebrity. Even Muggleborns unconnected to the Dursleys suffer from Fantastic Racism. | |
