As a result, Kanan starts avoiding Ezra and Ezra has a minor breakdown, putting him in crisis right before the attack on Dromund Kaas. The entire first half of the Trauma Conga Line in Kanan’s backstory. Both Caleb and Janus were unaware that Order 66 had been recalled when the clones showed up. This happened just when Janus happened to be washing Caleb’s dirty robes, and the clones assumed that Janus was planning to sell Caleb to a brothel. Then Caleb attacked the clones and got shot with a stun blast; but nobody told Janus the shot wasn’t lethal. After Caleb woke up in the med bay, learned the truth, and went with Grey to get Janus released from prison, they arrived just in time to see Styles beating the crap out of Janus because by this point both men believed the other to be a villain and Janus mouthed off to Styles about it. And that wasn’t even the end of it.

Kanan's first glimpse at Ezra through the Force nearly paralyzes him with fear, and he wonders how any being could be so scared. Several chapters later, we learn that the Inquisitorius Mind Raped Ezra into experiencing the fear of those around him, as well as having several traumatic experiences tied to his normal mental processes. It's also our first indication that his injuries should leave him catatonic, but his bond with Kanan is negating the worst effects. Kanan mentions more than once that he feels he has to protect Ezra and occasionally shows Skewed Priorities for his sake. This is due to them having unknowingly formed a Master-Padawan bond, since without the proper training to distance himself Kanan will prioritize Ezra's well-being over anything else. When Kanan comforts Ezra after learning about the Inquisitorius, he notes that he's radiating his emotions into the Force but doesn't much care. A few chapters later, the Jedi discuss their connection and come to the conclusion that the only reason Kanan hasn't accidentally wiped Ezra's mind is that he hasn't taken his shields down, showing that there is something abnormal about their bond. Sabine's greatest fear is mind control. She is mind controlled by the Seventh Sister near the end.
