With Steven being especially busy with Gem missions, Connie takes to hanging out at the barn with Peridot, Lapis, and a recently redeemed Jasper. And soon they're all embroiled in their own mission to protect the Earth when a bunch of Gem tech starts attacking the city.Connie and the B-Team is a Steven Universe Fanfiction written by Feraligreater 328 on Fan Fiction Dot Net. It is basically a "What If?" scenario note To be more precise, what if Steven managed to heal Jasper from her corruption and to trigger a Heel–Face Turn. that roughly starts after Earthlings (or maybe Mindful Education, the narration willingly remains vague about that). The story follows the adventures of Connie, Peridot, Lapis and a redeemed Jasper, while the main plot is happening off-screen.note For instance, in Chapter 41, the characters mention Holly Blue Agate and the Human Zoo.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })The author has also written another short story called Uneasy Frenemies, that gives a few clues about how Jasper and Bismuth may have been redeemed.note It doesn't show the actual redemption, but shows Steven being able to start to reach out to them. Even though according to Feraligreater 328 the short story was less about narrative and more about trying to find the voice for a couple of characters he hadn't written yet (before beginning Connie and the B Team), it could still be considered a prequel.Of course, due to the fanfic's premise, there are divergences from canon (and there are Original Characters).As of May 2017, the story has gone on hiatus. The author returned in March 2018...only to announce that they were cancelling the fic. Every chapter past chapter 47 was then deleted, and the author started work on a follow-up that adhered a bit more closely to the canon events that had come and gone during the fic's run. All There in the Manual: Uneasy Frenemies helps to understand a little more some of the plot points of Connie and the B Team, mostly those centered around Bismuth's Heel–Face Turn. Indeed, in the main story, she's rather abruptly introduced as an ally of the Crystal Gems. Uneasy Frenemies shows that she has come to terms with the fact that Steven is not Rose Quartz. She's also shown ready to fight the Shatter Machine to protect him and the other Crystal Gems and grateful that he told the other Gems the truth about her and Rose Quartz. She even ends up Taking the Bullet for Steven. | |
