Disregarding how many radicals want to kill all members of the imperial line to ensure the loyalists have no base to stand on, this is all predicated on the idea the newly-elected officials aren't more of the same corrupt figures who once stalked the imperial court, simply hiding their true faces under the veil of "revolutionaries". As the likes of Najenda and Chouri note, it simply has too much of a chance of creating multiple new Honests to deal with, and the current climate just has too many conflicting agendas and corrupt individuals seeking power by any means necessary to create the ideal stable government the Empire needs when the war ends. The solution, therefore, would be to install a new Emperor under whom a stable and just reign can ensure to purge out the corrupt elements and cultivate a new generation that can then reform the system to a proper democracy. | |
