The problem is that super-villains are all strongly independent, highly suspicious of others, and have clashing egos, and likely to quickly break out into violence if anybody tries any alpha posturing. While they are the protagonists, the Straw Hats count as they are criminals and thus 'villains.' Regardless, they certainly have an impressive team of confirmed super-villains working for them. The Joker creates the Injustice League after recruiting/intimidating supervillains to join in, to have revenge on Sanji and the pirates while also take out the Justice League in the process. Luthor's concerns about villain team-ups prove correct as tensions rise amongst members, barely kept in check by fear of Joker. The team is done for because of the Justice League tracking them down and make an ambush, but some of those villains managed to escape and are still working together. The rogue Amazon Aresia recruited different supervillains, who were really greedy, to help her steal some materials. Later, however, it was revealed that she wanted those things to create a deadly allergen capable of affecting men in general so she could kill them all off. With the males in her team incapacitated, she continues to lead Star Sapphire and Tsukuri from her group, since they do like the idea after betraying the males. She also promises them that once only women are left, the Greek gods will make them all into Amazons, with powers and eternal youth. They were stopped before the allergen was sent to the atmosphere to reach every part of the world, with Aresia imprisoned by the Amazons, and the others sent to an American prison. Later though, the Joker freed the two lackeys for them to join the Injustice League while also imprisoning and forcing Aresia to his cause, while the Justice League makes a surprise attack to the Injustice League's base, the two women free their leader and escape (alongside Giganta who was a prisoner too) to resume with their plan to erase men from the face of the Earth.

Yet it is still a notable and sole downgrade to one of the Straw Hats arsenalâ€™s that has resulted from being stranded in the DCAU, but Sanji wouldâ€™ve gladly taken it to avoid the nightmarish possibility of becoming anything like his inhuman brothers.

The Justice League finally starts to see that they REALLY underestimated the pirates after most of them fight against an alternate-reality Zoro and Robin that became radicals while looking for revenge at Luffy's death. Not only do the heroes lose, Zoro gives the "Man of Steel" a scar, much to the heroes' disbelief and shock.

While they do promise to return afterward, and the villains can prove they are strong enough not to be liabilities if they want to come along, it still strained things for a while. Especially when the Deckhands got somewhat jealous Ace was automatically made a Pirate apprentice, but it was explained she already has enough potential to survive there and quite frankly has nowhere else to go. Yet the rest of the Royal Flush Gang have flat out said while theyâ€™re grateful to the pirates, theyâ€™re not going with them to their world, yet nonetheless the Straw Hats respect their decision since they wanted the teens to have a fresh start once free rather than recruiting them.

This is usual and comedically exaggerated for Luffy when he eats a lot in canon and it's the same for this story, the first time that happens here is after the Straw Hats have a feast for Thanksgiving and the captain eats so much turkey that he gets really fat and has a hard time digesting the food. A irritated Volcana notes how the only reason she hasn't killed him out of jealousy for usually being able to digest all of that food quickly, while she has to constantly work hard for maintaining her waistline, is her sheer respect for him.

Yet this causes Diana to think the Straw Hats have become cynical people due to whatever wrongs were committed against them in the name of "Justice". When in actuality, despite being understandably jaded about the term Justice because of the World Government, they are optimistic and hard working dreamers through and through. Amanda Waller, on the other hand, falls heavily into Cynicism on both scales: she doesn't believe in justice at all, but rather word of law and the sovereignty of the US, to the point that she believes that the only Meta-humans that should be working in the vein of the Justice League are those that are loyal and subservient to the nation itself.

It's also noted by the ladies that both hers and Nami's hellish training sessions may have something to do with that however, so not necessarily genetics being a factor here, at least not completely.

Yet after the events of The Savage Time, those like Batman and John are very cautious about approaching or interacting with the Straw Hats home planet. Especially when thinking about what other powerhouses could be living there that could actually give scars to those within the group like Zoro whoâ€™s deranged alternate self managed to actually wound the Man of Steel himself and actually give him a few permanent scars of his own. And while Flash mused they could try fixing the problems of the Straw Hats' world, his teammates are honestly more concerned about opening a can of worms by doing so, but are nonetheless optimistic that could be possible.

Batman discovers a bunch of suspicious things about a medical company and goes snooping around before getting caught by the Straw Hats. The first issue was that Cherry Blossom Medical was revolutionizing the medical world at lower costs than they could have changed, and while it being shut down was a temporary thing, the reopened company no longer had access to Chopper's genius medical knowledge. Leaving the company a shell of its former self and to simply mass produce or try improvising what medical innovations Chopper made. The second and more significant issue is that the way Batman handled the situation: using his customary paranoia and stealth tactics and subsequently being caught in the act, meant that the Straw Hats were guaranteed to be their enemies from this terrible first impression. Especially since Batman's actions confirmed their own fears that while the members of the Justice League were not necessarily bad people, they still resembled the Marines too much for comfort. Word of God states that if Superman had approached 'Sanji Kuroashi' openly instead of Batman, in all likelihood the pirates and heroes would be cooperating with each other from the beginning. Albeit roughly given the Blue-and-Orange Morality the Straw Hats follow by. But as it stands, that ship has long since sailed or at least will take a loooong time before this can be possible anymore. Sanji steps in to protect Harley from Joker's abuse and ends up adjusting his face with his kicks so he can never smile or laugh. Losing the crux of his identity turns the Clown Prince of Crime even more insane, and he begins gathering villains and weapons to destroy both the pirates and the Justice League. But obviously is prioritizing the destruction of the former for what Sanji did to him. Superman wanted to help Volcana so she was able to have peace without being endangered by the government agents after her, while also not being a threat to those around her. Unfortunately, the idea that he comes up with is leaving her on an isolated island where he can only drop by occasionally for supplies and the only person she can interact with. Which would otherwise leave her with nothing but oppressive isolation. Eventually, she escapes from the island and eventually joins the Straw Hats, which makes Superman realize that she could be one of his biggest failures in the future, if not already. But solely because the Straw Hats gave her far more happiness than his solution couldâ€™ve done. Batman does not hesitate to angrily chastise for it either once he is aware of Supermanâ€™s terrible mishandling of the situation with Volcana.

The entire Justice League fits in this trope when it comes to their thoughts on the Straw Hats. Flash and Wonder Woman in particular think that they've become cynical to the world around them when ironically the crew is actually full of idealists who believe that dreams can come true if enough effort is put into them. And while their views on justice are jaded, they overall are people who are guided by the prospect of fulfilling their dreams and aspirations. Since the Straw Hats don't really specify about their past, their new allies/friends often understand things in another context to what the pirates actually mean. For example, when Luffy talks about having been in hell and escaping it, they think that he's talking literally when he was instead referring to Impel Down (though it's not like that particular prison doesn't deserve that allusion). In the Omake "Not so Flashy anymore," Buggy thinks he is being compared to 'Joker' as in Doflamingo, which he takes as a major compliment. Amanda Waller becomes another member in this list for her suspicions of the pirates being possibly two steps ahead of her at the end of Chapter 18. Right as she was planning to step up training and experiments on the Royal Flush Gang, the Straw Hats invaded, robbed, and destroyed the facility, rescuing the five captive teenagers in the process. The timing is purely a coincidence, as they went there to celebrate Zoro's birthday.

Yet the whole time reveals much more context as he held a significant grudge against Jason for his role in Camelotâ€™s downfall alongside aiding Batman and Flash when Jâ€™ohnn succumbs to Morganaâ€™s temptations, but is more or less resolved by the end of the episodes events. Orion was also another character that only appeared a handful of times also decides to leave New Genesis and join the Justice League to try and find a new purpose now that his war against Darkseid has ended and the promise of powerful enemies to face. Such as the infamous Straw Hat Pirates. Mister Miracle and Big Barda also join the Justice League and will likely have more of a role in the story beyond the single episode they had a significant role in.

Usually, the Justice League tries to help rebuild, or Batman ponies up the cash, but that is not always feasible or affordable in the long-term; so, it was decided that a non-profit organization to provide insurance for people after super-powered battles would be created. But as John stated, this could only do so much in the face of the Straw Hats robberies and crime waves created as an unintended consequence of staying out of Gotham. Wayne Enterprises also provides relief in Gotham to those hurt by super-powered battles.
