This is unlike his canon self, who hates the idea of joining. Due to uptick in Japanese villainy, the I-Island Expo is canceled, completely demolishing David Shield's plans, however, he is contracted by Nezu to help investigate how Eijiro's "Red Riot Unbreakable" is able to defend against Angra Mainyu's Black Blood. Melissa comes with him, transferring to U.A. in order to finish her education.

Kirishima, normally a boisterous Hot-Blooded hero in training, is noted to be subdued, quiet and almost brooding after his encounter with Angra Mainyu at USJ. It's implied that the latter's black blood is amplifying Kirishima's insecurities an nth degree. Mineta, the resident pervert of class 1-A, always seeks a chance to peek at the girl's locker room or grope girls, even when the League of Villains attacked USJ. So when he refrains from doing so around Shirou after the rumor of the latter being a traitor, it was noted to be worrisome.

She then makes a taser and a spear, but he effortlessly dodges or parries her with a wooden sword while lecturing her on the flaws in her technique before knocking her out.
