Adaptational Villainy: Some characters are far worse than their canon counterparts. Examples include: In canon, Kota never liked heroes at all due to his parents' deaths but changed his tune when Midoriya saves his life from Muscular. In this fic, due to Stain seeking him out, he uses Kota's hatred for heroes to groom him into his protege, resulting in him becoming a miniature version of Stain. Bakugo zigzags between this trope and Adaptational Jerkass. Sonic beating him in his childhood likely contributed to this as his hostility towards Midoriya becomes far more violent than it was in canon. Examples such as breaking his Chaos Emerald out of spite, beating him up for attempting to fight back, and even tried to kill him twice. His pettiness is also worse as he prevented Sonic from finishing off the Nomu just so he can have his revenge for the hedgehog humiliating him years ago, resulting in the Nomu regaining its strength and is subsequently turned into a robot by Eggman and later admits that he wished that Midoriyia was killed by the Nomu. Due to his behavior, he ends up being scouted by Eggman to join his empire. Shagaraki has proven himself to be far more unhinged than his canon counterpart as he used the Nomu to brutally beat and torture Izuku once his Chaos Emerald ran out of power, taking sadistic glee as he beats the poor boy to near death. |

Berserk Button: Harming, threatening, or belittling Midoriya is enough to piss off his friends, especially Bakugou and Monoma. Sonic, All Might, and Midoriya's girlfrends have a FAR stronger reaction due to their closeness with Izuku. Prior to the events of the prologue, Sonic watches over Midoriya and Bakugou and sees firsthand Bakugou bullying the poor kid. He reaches his boiling point when Bakugou blast Midoriya in the face just for attempting to help him up from the stream. Sonic would later save Midoriya and a boy (as well as getting his revenge on Bakugou) when the latter was about to attack the former. Chapter 8: When Midoriya and Kendou were about to do the Entrance Exam, Bakugou shows up and begins to badmouth as usual. When Kendou inquires why the latter calls the former "Deku" and he bluntly states its meaning, it was enough for her to nearly punch with her Quirk but is stopped by Midoriya before they could make more of a scene. Chapter 20: When Bakugou and his peers found out that Midoriya was injured by the Nomu, the former muses that the latter deserved it, earning him angry glares from Sonic and Tails. Later on, Monoma ends up mocking the boy for trying to fight the Nomu and that he should've died, it ticked off everyone that was present barely fighting the urge to beat his ass. He gets threatened by Momo of all people to stop insulting Midoriya or she'll personally deal with him herself. Chapter 26: During the Declaration of War, Bakugou and Monoma talk shit to Midoriya for what he did at the USJ, Momo and Tsuyu jumped to Midoriya's defense and call them both out for their cowardice and self-centered attitude respectively. Bakugou once again voices his displeasure for Midoriya and even admits that he wished that the latter died, which almost caused an enraged Momo to slap him. Chapter 27: Prior to the Sports Festival, Todoroki declared war on Midoriya, causing Momo and Ochaco to jump to his defense. Sonic later shows up and trades insults to Todoroki, then calmly states that he would kick his ass if he was in the tournament. Ironically, Sonic ends up hitting Todoroki's Berserk Button by making insults to his mother. Chapter 29: Iida accidentally hits Sonic's button by not only teaming up with Todoroki's team but also calling his shots on Izuku. When Sonic warns him to not risk it, he digs himself deeper by saying that he's more than willing to take the risk. It was only with the other Freedom Fighters showing up that nothing bad ended up happening. Chapter 32: When Shinsou ends up brainwashing Izuku and orders him to forfeit the match, Sonic ends up giving a horrifying glare that he never gave to his enemies nor his rivals. He was even going to enter the ring himself to take care of Shinsou but was stopped by Ryuko before he gets himself eliminated from the tournament. |
