MTV's Kurt Loder appears as himself, reporting on the hostage crisis, and also wondering how one pluralizes "The Lone Ranger".

Much later in the film, when Jimmie Wing comes to the radio station, he passes a couple of people staring in combined awe and bafflement at some pictures that we can't see. Jimmie peers at them and says "Bea Arthur? Outstanding!" Another demand is for football helmets filled with cottage cheese. It a blink-and-you'll-miss it sight gag, during one of the scenes with the cops, you can see them filling said helmets from big tubs of cottage cheese.
