Ambiguously Bi: A deleted scene on the DVD is an extension of John and Elaine’s wedding day. During the reception, it is strongly hinted that Mr. Warner and Judge Cook have entered a same-sex relationship. Despite being total strangers, initially, the two have stayed in touch and become close enough “friends” to where Warner invites Cook to the ceremony as what appears to be a date. When John questions Warner’s decision to invite Cook, they grow increasingly nervous over-explaining that they merely “carpooled” before exchanging a mutual look of guilt.

Cope by Pretending: Honorable Judge Emmett Cook forces would-be burglars to cuddle with him while impersonating his deceased wife. He keeps his gun aimed at them, while he recalls precious memories and they’re only allowed to agree with everything he says.
