This is played for laughs several times later on, both with the desperate stranger who says he'll do anything if they let him in, and when Jonah gets possessed and threatens to do just that. In the beginning the guys discuss how dangerous the stairs at Franco's house are as there is no railing. Later, when they're escaping from possessed Jonah, they fall off from the side of the stairs. James Franco talks about how he should die in the proposed Pineapple Express sequel by sacrificing himself for the others and dying in the most horrible way possible. Enter Danny McBride at the end of the movie.
