Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })Twitch Plays Pokémon (TPP) is a series of social experiments in which commands representing buttons on an original Nintendo GameCube (up, down, left, right, A, B, X, Y, Z, L, R, start, and C-stick) are entered into a chat on Twitch, and then translated into a game of Pokémon via an IRC bot. In short, hundreds of people are fighting over a controller. Throughout its life, Twitch Plays Pokémon has spawned hilarious characters, memorable moments, and even a few religions.Twitch Plays Pokémon Randomized Colosseum is the third run of Season 6, which ran from June 8th, 2019, to June 15th, 2019. It is the seventh randomized run and the thirty-sixth run overall, as well as the first return to the GameCube games since the Colosseum and XD runs in Season 2. As is par for the course for randomizer runs, all Pokémon (catchable or not), their movesets, abilities, held items, and even evolutions are shuffled around. On top of that, several changes have been included by the developers, including the addition of the Physical/Special split introduced in Genration IV, a 20% buff to all Trainers, replacing trade evolutions by level-up ones, and swapping the "Release" button for a "Hug" button.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_2'); })This run follows the adventures of ACCC ("Ace"), his companion D QZ" 3 ("Dairy Queen"), and his two starters Nosepass and Persian, as they set out to snag all 48 Shadow Pokémon, and put an end to Team Snagem and Cipher nefarious plans. Notable events along the way involved attempting to snag a Shadow Ho-Oh for almost the entirety of the first day and a half, to battling (and failing to defeat) a doppelgänger with a very familiar team, to just watching the news over and over and over. The team featured some surprisingly good combos: a Slaking with Pure Power instead of Truantnote for the less Pokémon-savvy out there, this means that instead of its insanely high 160 Attack stat being nerfed by only being able to attack once every two turns, it was actually doubled, a Walrein which combined Natural Cure and Dragon Dance with Baton Passnote using Baton Pass to switch out activates Natural Cure, which cures it of any permanent status effect, and passes down the stat boost of Dragon Dance to the next Pokémon, and Persian itself boosting Synthesis through its Drought abilitynote Drought automatically triggers a sunny weather, which makes Synthesis heal 2/3 of the HP instead of 1/2. Of course, it also had its fair amount of silliness, from an Octillery knowing the mistranslated move Solid Plant, to a Ho-Oh and a Celebi which both used and abused the move Metronome, to Nosepass just plain healing the opponent using Pain Split.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_3'); })See also here for the archived status of the run, or here for live updates, which have been archived here.

Trolling Creator: invoked After the initial failure to defeat him, Fein (aka. "Shady Guy ACCC") never respawned, meaning he was ultimately left undefeated. After beating Evice for the second time, the stream operator took over control, went outside in the Outskirt Stand, where Fein should have been present, and the first few notes of "Born to Lose" started to play before the run ended for good.

Cool, but Inefficient: At the start of the run, Ace faced a rider who had a Deoxys with Flamethrower. Said attack, coupled with the harsh sunlight weather effect caused by Sunnycat's Drought abilitynote Harsh sunlight increases the power of fire attacks by 50%, did a grand total of 1 HP of damage. See for yourselves.

Gameplay and Story Segregation: During the ending cutscene, the characters are amazed to learn that Ho-Oh had been watching over them, and comment on how they have never seen it from so close... except ACCC has had a Ho-Oh on his own team for the majority of the game, which he did use in the battle right before said cutscene.

The Power of the Sun: ACCC's Persian brings out the sun when it enters the field, which has the side effect of drastically boosting the efficiency of its Synthesis move. This earned it the nickname of "SunCat" among the Voices.

comment
Loophole Abuse: Shadow Pokémon are normally unable to evolve. However, the base game does not have any Shadow Pokémon that evolves by using a Stone, so it doesn't actually have to bother preventing thosenote The developers did actually code in a check for shadow status, but the game just ignores the result and proceeds regardless.; as a result, ACCC was perfectly able to make his Shadow Eevee evolve into Tyranitar.

Previous Player-Character Cameo: Fein, a Cipher Peon who in the original game impersonates the protagonist to tarnish his reputation, had his team replaced with AAAAAAA's team from the original Twitch Plays Pokémon Colosseum, including a snaggable Shadow Misdreavus.

Epic Fail: This game sets a new record for how fast the chat was able to crash the game, with the screen going black 53 seconds into the run, as the chat attempted to enter the Colosseum Battle mode instead of starting a new game.note The game crashed because Colosseum Battle mode was deleted to make room for other changes The chat's attempt to weaken and capture Evice's Meganium, the second to last Shadow Pokémon, ended with Meganium knocking itself out with Shadow Rush.

Obvious Rule Patch: Given the limited amount of Pokémon that can be obtained within the game, and the fact that the overall difficulty has been boosted, the devs opted to replace the "Release" button with a harmless "Hug" button in order to avoid an Unintentionally Unwinnable situation.

Everybody Lives: Enforced. Due to the limited number of Pokémon that can be obtained in the game, the "Release" button has been replaced by an ineffective "Hug" button by the developers, meaning there was no way for ACCC to get rid of any of his Pokémon, even by accident.

History Repeats: Just like AAAAAAA in the original Colosseum, ACCC spent a lot of time watching the news. Although whereas AAAAAAA watched the news over a thousand times, ACCC "only" watched 604 news reports. Thanks to the randomization, ACCC was able to obtain an extremely powerful Legendary Pokémon, Ho-Oh, very early in the game. The same thing had already happened with Kenya the Groudon in Twitch Plays Pokémon HeartGold. Subverted though, in that Ho-Oh stayed on the team for the whole game, whereas Kenya was eventually released. After purifying Combusken, its randomized evolution turned out to be Flareon. Aside from TPP's notorious history with Flareon, it isn't the first time the chat made efforts to find out the randomized evolution of a Fire-type Pokémon only to be greeted with Flareon, as this was exactly what happened at the end of Twitch Plays Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.
