Inez was abused by her own uncle (or stepfather?) for months or even years before Damali came onto the scene and ended it. Later on her first husband physically abused her. Carlos' family life was not a happy one, though it's stated in The Awakening that it had once been happy, a long time ago. His mother was physically abused by his drunken father, his sister died of a drug overdose. | |
