Alice is walking alone through the forest/Haunted House/whatever when suddenly she hears a noise. Ominous music starts playing as she looks around, obviously scared. Then suddenly, something knocks her down and starts to drag her away by the ankle. She screams for help, kicks at whatever it is and tries to grab hold of something, desperately digging her fingernails into the ground as she goes. Expect a final scream as she disappears into the shadows. A variation occurs in a swamp or lake, where something suddenly latches onto Alice's ankle and instantly pulls her beneath the surface. This is often followed by an underwater shot showing Alice struggling and flailing before she either drowns or manages to break free. The key point here is the fact that Alice is always dragged away by her ankle, never by any other body part. May lead into a horizontal Take My Hand!-like scenario as Bob tries to rescue Alice. Sometimes subverted via Giving Them the Strip if the victim's footwear comes off in the attacker's grip. Alternatively, a hero or antihero who intends to be Dressing as the Enemy may haul off a knocked out mook in this way, so that he can hastily steal their uniform. The Lost World: Jurassic Park: Eddie the mechanic is tossed out of his SUV by his ankle by two T. rexes, and is eaten. Jurassic Park III: Nash the pilot gets dragged out of the crashed plane by his leg by the Spinosaurus before being thrown to the ground, stomped on, and decapitated. Jurassic World: Claire's assistant Zara gets snatched up by a Pteranodon and let go when it and another Pteranodon start fighting over her, at which point a third Pteranodon grabs both her ankles in its talons and flies off with her before dropping her into the Mosasaur Lagoon, where she ultimately meets her end. Later on, several members of Hoskins's InGen security team are shown being dragged by their lower extremities into the brush to be killed by Owen's raptors after the Indominus rex becomes the raptors' new alpha and turns them against the humans. Jurassic World Dominion: When a Giganotosaurus breaks into an observation tower and attacks the group, Claire's ankle gets entangled in a loose wire that the dinosaur is pulling on and she gets dragged right up to its mouth. Unlike the victims in the first five examples, she survives. |
