In "The Trial of Mr. Wolf", the Big Bad Wolf gives a heavily biased account of the events of Little Red Riding Hood that make him look good and makes Red Riding Hood and her grandmother look bad. At the end, the Wolf is surprised to see the all-wolf jury looking skeptical. He declares "If that ain't the truth, I hope I get run over by a streetcar!", whereupon a streetcar crashes through the wall of the courtroom and runs him over. The Wolf emerges from the rubble, and sheepishly admits he might have exaggerated. "Fool Coverage", ends with one big parade of the trope. Daffy is trying to convince Porky to buy insurance. In the process, Daffy runs into mishap after mishap, and this convinces Porky to sign. He then says all he needs to get a million dollars is to get a black eye. Daffy then notes that the policy has a list of impossible conditions (no pigs, but there is a stampede of wild elephants and a hailstorm in the Fourth of July among other more plausible details). Cue Daffy's chagrin when every single one of the conditions occur...including the one he made up on the spot (one baby zebra). In "The Hardship of Miles Standish", after hearing the radio adaptation, Grandpa angrily turns off the radio and retells the story to his grandson. At the end he exclaimed if it ain't the truth, then let lightning strike him. Lightning does strike him. Hanging from the rafters, he looks at the audience and says "Well anyhoo, that how I heard it!". In the Bugs Bunny short "His Hare-Raising Tale", Bugs is telling his nephew Clyde about some of his adventures (which includes clips from "Stage Door Cartoon", "Baseball Bugs", and "Haredevil Hare"), but at the end, Clyde frowns as if he doesn't believe any of it. Bugs responds, "If everything I've told you isn't true, I, uh, I hope I'm run over by a streetcar." Cue a streetcar that bursts through the living room and runs Bugs over. As Clyde looks on in shock, Bugs emerges from the rubble and complains, "I suppose you don't believe I was run over by a streetcar!"

Prior to any of those examples, Cloud Strife's reveal for 3DS/Wii U solicited this reaction due to his limited appearances on Nintendo consoles, and that his home game hadn't been on a Nintendo console at that point (which eventually happened on the Nintendo Switch).
