A type of Sidekick. A character is accompanied by a Fairy Creature, usually of the tiny variety and not one of the mean ones (at worst, this character has a mischievous streak). The Fairy often lends a magical helping hand, which doesn't always work out as planned. Hilarity Ensues. These seem to be extremely common in video games, to the point of turning into a Discredited Trope. One reason for their popularity among developers is that fairies are easy to work with; a speck of light with wings doesn't need much animation. See also Exposition Fairy. Winx Club has several different companions depending on the location. The Winx got a bunch of Pixie companions in season 2, and they were popular to the point that they got their own Spin-Off a few years later. The pixies have all their own unique powers, such as Amore making people fall in love and Lockette having the ability to find things. They stuck around for season 3 and made an appearance for both movies. In season 4, when the Winx opened the Love and Pet shop, they each got their own Fairy Pet. Aside from flying, they didn't have any powers, but they still tried to help the Winx on occasion. Season 5 introduces the Selkies, who are similar to the Pixies in that they are more active in helping the Winx. Initially guarding the portals to each world in the oceans of Andros, they bond to the Winx and become their guides and companions in the waters and the Infinite Ocean. |

Arguably his godmother the Leanansidhe, too, although as one of the Sidhe she's less a sidekick and more a very powerful and dangerous nonhuman sorceress who sometimes helps him because she's made deals or something. |

Fi fills this role in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, she travels in the Master Sword, but materializes into a human-size fairy to talk. Hyrule Warriors: The fairy Proxi delivers all of Link's lines in his stead. In Hyrule Warriors: Legends, fairies are equippable companions that can be brought into battle. The Jade Regent Campaign from RPGMP3 features a character called Spivey, a Lyrakien Cleric of Desna. Spivey used to live in a cemetery, until the PCs came by. She then joined their caravan and followed them on their quest, quickly earning the nickname "Death Pixie", since most of her skills were focused on graveyard maintenance, at that point. She's always flitting around, dispensing invaluable moral advice and trying to get the PCs to be nicer to each other. | |

In Barbie: Princess Charm School, all students at the titular school have a "personal princess assistant" in the form of a pixie sprite who resembles the princess (or lady royal) they assist when it comes to their interests and personalities. For example: Blair's sprite is named Grace who, while a bit of a klutz, is very helpful, supportive and a good friend. Hadley's sprite is named Caprice and she's sporty/athletic like Hadley is. Isla's sprite is named Harmony, which doubles as a Meaningful Name because the definition of the name is "the combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions with a pleasing effect," reflecting Isla's love and passion for creating music. Delancy's sprite is named Wickellia, which also doubles as a Meaningful Name since the sprite is mean-spirited like the student she assists (at least until Delancy reforms). |
