By conventional wisdom, rain is associated with bad emotions and the sun is associated with good emotions. And yet there are many situations, in Real Life as well as in fiction, where people are happy to be rained upon. Perhaps there was a drought, perhaps it was too hot and the rain provides cool relief, or perhaps the protagonist just enjoys singin' in the rain. Sometimes a form of Empathic Environment. Subtropes include Redemption in the Rain, Romantic Rain, and Spoofing in the Rain.
