The moment at which a character who was in big trouble realizes that the tide is about to turn in their favor. Perhaps it seemed that the only option was a One-Way Trip or a Heroic Sacrifice, but suddenly The Cavalry appears on the horizon. They might not say anything in particular, but the look on their face is priceless. The effectiveness of this moment can be affected by their change in confidence. An arrogant, so far unbeatable supervillain suddenly realizing he's got the ace in the hole he'd been hoping for is difficult to make this trope work with, but a downtrodden hero or Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain who has faced hellish adversity at every turn can usually pull it off with little difficulty. Basically the Inverted Trope of Oh, Crap!. It can often be an Oh, Crap! moment for the opponents of the character having a Hell Yes Moment. Optionally enhanced by a well-placed Theme Music Power-Up. Sometimes leads to a Tear Dryer moment. Some situations where this commonly occurs: Big Damn Heroes Changed My Mind, Kid Conveniently Timed Attack from Behind 11th-Hour Superpower Forgotten Superweapon Giant Flyer Gunship Rescue I Got You Covered Just in Time Let's Get Dangerous! Misfit Mobilization Moment Stolen MacGuffin Reveal Villainous Rescue Not to be confused with Big "YES!", And the Fandom Rejoiced or Moment of Awesome, although a Hell Yes Moment can and often does precede the latter. Then he smells the smoke from the pyre, lets out an almighty Big "NO!", rips the chains off and dives down the cathedral on a rope to rescue Esmeralda. This then leads to Phoebus rallying the rest of the citizens to fight back against Frollo's soldiers. |

The Dresden Files has a ton of these. The most powerful being when it turns out Harry is less alone than he (or sometimes just the reader) thought. Some particularly notable ones: At the end of Turn Coat, it looks like Harry and his dog are standing alone against the council's inertia, and then Ancient Mai, who has tried to kill Harry twice before, stands up and exclaims "That is a Foo dog." And the balance shifts. At the darkest moment in Changes, when Harry's back is broken and his apartment building is on fire, his landlady calls out "God help us!" and Sanya comes running around the corner as naturally as if he'd been in the book before that scene. The entire climactic battle of Changes is a series of these, starting when Murphy pulls out Fidelacchius and spouts an Archangel-fueled, then continuing with the arrival of the Grey Council, and then when they in turn bring Kenku in as back-up. And it ends on a subversion—Harry's inner monologue is going Hell Yes when he sees Martin coming up behind the Red King, only for it to be reversed when Martin reveals he was The Mole. When The Cavalry shows up in Raith Deeps. In Skin Game, just when things are at their bleakest, and it seems like Harry has done exactly the wrong thing to end up on the bad end of 3 to 1 odds, he says something simple, and all hell breaks loose in the best possible way. In this book, the broken Sword of The Cross Fiddlicious ends up in the hands of Butters, of all people, and his faith in good triumphing over evil allows him to reforge the broken holy sword...into a friggen’ lightsaber! Then he breaks old Nicky’s profane blade (complete with a pre asskicking one liner), breaks the cult's will, and forces them into a retreat. |

In Mass Effect 3, Cerberus ninja Kai Leng has spent the last few hours of gameplay taunting Shepard, having spent nearly all of his screen time stabbing the engines of Shepard's vehicles, running away after completing his objective, or being forced into a fight with Thane Krios/hitting Kirrahe by mistake. calling in squads of Cerberus troops and a gunship to divert the straight-combat specialist and his/her team from his assassin self, and trying to sell the galaxy out to the Reapers. After pinning him into a Last Stand, shooting him full of holes in a boss fight and likely having to deal with his signature sword a couple of times, he drags himself to his feet and tries to stab Shepard In the Back. The Renegade Interrupt that every Paragon Shepard took: (admittedly because it looks like a Press X to Not Die moment despite not being one) shattering that damn sword with the back of your hand, before gutting the bastard with the omni-blade with a And This Is for... Pre-Mortem One-Liner. Significantly less badass if Kai didn't kill anyone Shepard knew, though. The one-liner makes Shepard sound like a scrub in this case - "No gunship this time, you son of a bitch." "All ships... hold fire." For context, this phrase ends a Robot War of over three centuries, prefaced by atrocities from both sides such as shooting geth for questioning their existence or massacring quarian civilians and forcing the species from their planet. James Vega's Establishing Character Moment, after spending most of the Mars mission as The Generic Guy. Eva Core has gotten to a shuttle just ahead of Shepard and is in the middle of taking off with priceless data on the Crucible, when James comes soaring out of the sky in his own shuttle and rams hers out of the sky. |

The Straw Hats themselves are prone to causing this. Nearly every time a major villain is beating someone up, one of them, nearly always Luffy, turns it around. The most awesome by far has to go to Usopp/Sogeking in Enies Lobby: despite the crew's best efforts, Robin was about to be dragged through the Gate of Justice by Spandam, and therefore lost forever, and their main hope of stopping this, Franky, had just apparently been blown up by a landmine. And then out of nowhere, Spandam is shot. Cue Sogeking standing atop the tower of justice, singing his theme tune as he shoots down everyone near Robin, at a range that no gun could reach, and Franky walking out of the smoke to pick Robin up. During the Marineford arc, Whitebeard joins the battle. TREMENDOUS amounts of awesomeness and butt-kicking ensue. |

And it ends on a subversion—Harry's inner monologue is going Hell Yes when he sees Martin coming up behind the Red King, only for it to be reversed when Martin reveals he was The Mole. |

As it turns out, Bluffman was extremely controlling of her and she felt forced into the role of a messianic figure that he had prepared for her.
