There are downsides to mixed heritage. It's rather lonely not fully belonging to the societies of either parent, even if there isn't active discrimination against what you are. However, if one or both sides of the family have some special power or supernatural trait, there may be a bonus to being a half-breed: a powerball in the Superpower Lottery.
Blame Powers as Programs or LEGO Genetics, but any power possessed, even latently, by a parent, will always be passed on to their offspring, and the presence of a different strain on the other side of the family will only serve to amplify it. This is especially true if the powers are complementary in some way, but even if they are opposite: if someone with fire powers marries An Ice Person, their kid may well have both sets or even an amalgamated access to Pure Energy, a living Yin-Yang Bomb.
You might expect this to be less the case with Half-Human Hybrids or other combinations of the supernormal and the mundane, but this is not always so. Often as not, the mundane side will leave all of the powers intact, but mitigate any weaknesses, quite likely resulting in One Hero, Hold the Weaksauce. The Dhampyr is perhaps the ultimate example of this.
It's usually the Rule of Cool in action, but also Truth in Television to some extent. Mixing genes that don't normally mix can have unpredictable results. A good example is the liger — mating a male lion to a female tiger produces offspring that grow to be far larger than either parent.
Other than reproduction, this kind of advantageous combination can result from a Fusion Dance. A Hybrid Monster might be bred specifically to take advantage of this trope. If a character manifests their power by accident, they may learn that they were a Hybrid All Along. Contrast All Genes Are Codominant, in which special traits are exactly half-inherited by the offspring, and Hybrid-Overkill Avoidance, if the writer goes out of the way to minimize the probability of this happening. Also Contrast Hybrids Are a Crapshoot, where being a hybrid makes someone less powerful rather than more. Mixed Ancestry is Attractive might be the case if they are perceived as attractive instead of being powerful. May occur as part of a Hybridization Plot. See also Lamarck Was Right.
See The Other Wiki's pages on heterosis ("hybrid vigor") and heterozygous advantage for some information on the real-life equivalent.

In Munchkin, this happens whenever a player uses Half-Breed with a single race card — he gets bonuses against anyone that race card gives bonuses against, but doesn't take penalties when fighting monsters who have an advantage over that race.

One-eyed ghouls in Tokyo Ghoul are rumored to be the result of matings between a male ghoul and a female human, and far more powerful than a full-blooded ghoul due to hybrid vigor. Ken Kaneki is an artificially created hybrid, and proves to be exceptionally powerful once he actually begins using his abilities. The only other case on record, the legendary One-Eyed Owl (a.k.a. Eto Yoshimura/Sen Takatsuki), is believed to be the most powerful ghoul CCG has ever encountered.

Bleach:
Ichigo is the offspring of a human and a shinigami. Thanks to the quirks of his parentage, he therefore possesses all the known power types in his world. Ginjou does claim Ichigo is not the first human/shinigami offspring to exist. His mother was an Echt Quincy whose soul was affected forever by one of Aizen's Hollow experiments, and to save her life, his father underwent a procedure to change him from a pure shinigami into a shinigami/human hybrid. As such, Ichigo was born with Quincy, Hollow, Human (Fullbringer) and Shinigami power, all of which have awakened at different speeds throughout the events of the series.
When a person survives a Hollow attack, they are left with a residual taint of the Hollow's powers in their body. This is then passed on to an unborn child via the mother. The child is permanently affected by this, resulting in the birth of a Fullbringer: a human being with Hollow-originated powers and the ability to manipulate the souls of matter (whether living or inanimate) to achieve all sorts of power effects and outcomes.
This is also the premise behind Visoreds and Arrancar. The former are Shinigami who have acquired Hollow powers through artificial means, while the latters are Hollows who have literally broken their Masks in order to regain Human forms and Shinigami-like power.

This trope is the entire basis of Rikuo and Rihan's ability, Matoi, in Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. Being part human, they can be possessed by their youkai subordinates but because they're also part youkai they have the ability to control the "fear" aura of the one possessing them, resulting in a Fusion Dance type situation.

The Silmarillion: The offspring of Beren [a Man] and Lúthien [an Elf with Maiar heredity] have the ability to choose which race they belong to, which determines their ultimate fate. Even if they choose the human side, they can expect to live hundreds of years.note When Aragorn first meets Frodo in Bree, he's nearly ninety, but by that time the Elven/Maiar blood is pretty dilute; he "only" lives another 120 years after the War of the Ring.

Fire Emblem:
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War provide players with the ability to pair units in marriage, and allows their offspring to inherit certain skills from their parents, plus letting their base stats be influenced by the stats of the respective parents. Children inherit the Holy Blood of both parents and two parents with minor blood will result in a child with Major, a fact the Big Bad takes advantage of via brainwashing two half-siblings into marrying.
Fire Emblem: Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates bring back the marriage system, only now the children inherit both parents' class options and stat Cap modifiers too. Fitting for this trope, the two Half-Human Hybrid kids (Yarne and Nah) have the potential to become some of the strongest characters in the game.
In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, the offspring of Beorc and Laguz are known as the Branded (from the marks they have somewhere on their bodies, usually kept hidden) or Parentless. They often have special abilities, but it's generally considered a great stigma, until Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn when it turns out the Apostle and Empress of the Begnion Empire is a Branded, the descendant of the Laguz Heron Lehran and the Beorc woman Altina, which enables them to hear the voice of the Goddess Yune. Also, aside from Ike's army, most of those unaffected by Ashera turning the entire population to stone are Branded due to her having no idea that they exist.

Angel:
Connor is the Dhampyr version — he has the strength and enhanced senses of the vampire with none of the drawbacks. However, he is not as resistant as a vampire. Because his body is alive and not undead, he can come to harm, for example by modern firearms.
The half-demons Nash and Pearl say that demons are strong but also archaic, while humans are modern, but also weak. They believe that they are the new evolution of demons and humans alike, because they combine the best of both species in themselves. The veracity of their claim is questionable, given a number of demons have adapted perfectly well to modern society. Something similar was claimed by Adam, who was an artificially created hybrid of humans, demons, and machinery.

Night Huntress: Main character Cat is a Dhampyr. When the first book starts, she's said to be weaker than a new vampire, but after a few weeks of Training from Hell, her strength increases dramatically, and Bones once states that she is a master vampire who happens to have a pulse. On a couple of occasions, she briefly manifests the ability to fly, something that takes vampires decades or centuries to become strong enough to do, and she's in her late twenties. When Cat becomes a full vampire, her strength increases a good deal further, and she drinks undead blood instead of human, temporarily gaining any special abilities possessed by whoever she drinks from.

This is relevant in the DmC: Devil May Cry continuity as well, but with a different context. Being Nephilim, Dante and Vergil's mixed heritage makes them the only ones strong enough to slay Mundus, according to Vergil. And indeed they succeed in their mission. In a minor example, it also makes them immune to Virility's mind controlling properties.

In the Harry Potter universe, many half-blood wizards like Harry Potter, Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Lord Voldemort become known for their particularly potent powers. Muggle-born wizards are also a type of hybrid, albeit more diluted, and many of them are shown to be extremely talented. The irony of course is that Magical Society is highly discriminatory against half-blood and muggle-born wizards despite many being more powerful than purebloods (who on top of being weaker are also highly inbred). Pure-Blooded wizards make up only 10% of the magical population. So statistically, there will probably be more wizards of all levels among mixed and muggle-born.

Hamster's Paradise:
Zigzagged and ultimately averted with the dreadmaus. This hybrid of the bear-like red broun and arctic tibear is larger and more aggressive than either parent species, enabling it to successfully compete with them, but is infertile. Since the dreadmaus drove out the other two species but cannot reproduce, all three end up going extinct.
The Always Chaotic Evil tundra harmsters deliberately invoke this. After using their more advanced weapons to conquer the other harmster species they decide to crossbreed with them as a way to take their best qualities for themselves, gaining improved stamina and adaptability from the savannah harmsters and increased size and strength from the matriarch harmsters.

Supernatural:
Jesse The Antichrist is the offspring of a human and a demon, and for some reason possesses immensely powerful Reality Warper abilities that neither parent had.
Jane the Nephilim is physically stronger than Castiel or Metatron and tosses them around in the fight.
Jack is stated to have the potential to become even stronger, being the son of an Archangel (Lucifer, no less) and a human. Tellingly, he manages to overpower Michael, supposedly the strongest Archangel. However, Lucifer then steals Jack's grace, giving himself enough of a power boost that he could wipe out the entire universe single-handedly.

Triptych Continuum has the hybrids, created by investing an unborn pony foal with essence taken from a pony of a different tribe. The process infuses the hybrids with an incredible vitality, allowing them to survive delivery complications that would have been lethal to an unaltered foal, and hybrids will often later manifest powers well outside the normal scope of their tribe's magic.

Functionally, she's indistinguishable from natural-born mermaids who enchant themselves to have legs when they're dry. Tolkien's Legendarium:
The Lord of the Rings: This is one hypothetical explanation mentioned for the new breeds of Orcs commanded by Saruman, though a detailed, canonical explanation is never given. (Note that the images from the film of Uruk-hai being "birthed" from gelatinous sacs don't appear in the book.) It's speculated that the wizard may have cross-bred Orcs and humans, resulting in creatures that are larger and stronger than Orcs and are not bothered by sunlight. In some cases, they may even be able to pass as human, as with the sinister stranger the Hobbits saw in Bree, who "looked more than half like a Goblin".

Gods in The Order of the Stick cooperated to create the world because they discovered that the more pantheons that are involved in the creation of a thing, the stronger and "more real" it is. Ironically this makes the gods themselves uniquely vulnerable, as they are each formed from only one pantheon. Following its destruction of the Eastern Pantheon, the Snarl is the only thing in existence created by all four pantheons.

Coffee Talk:
The other half of the Barista's lineage isn't stated, but being a hybrid with an alien parent technically makes them, as Freya describes it, "a superhero". The end of the game reveals them to have Time Travel powers, represented by the game's feature to allow you load and replay any day on the calendar after one playthrough.
In Episode 2, Amanda calls the Barista "Café Offspring", to Baileys' confusion. The Barista just exchanges knowing glances with Silver (formerly Neil) as a Call-Back to The Reveal in the previous game's stinger. When Baileys leaves the café, he calls the Barista a "guardian angel", and once he's gone, they say to themself, "More like a guardian hive mind". In Silver and Amanda's bad ending, Silver instead assures the Barista that his alien protection organization, S.A.V.E., will do everything they can to protect them from "vanishing". Baileys is still confused, but the Barista refuses to elaborate.

This is generally how hybrid races work in the wide multiverse of Dungeons & Dragons:
Half-orcs are traditionally characterized as slightly weaker than pureblooded orcs, but still notably stronger than baseline humans, and far more intellectually adept and magically inclined — not so much because they are exceptionally gifted in those areas compared to humans, but because orcs are typically so inherently bad. Various settings have even had orc tribes that deliberately encouraged breeding half-orcs in order to have a smarter, more disciplined warrior caste, and/or to produce more orcish spellcasters. Orogs, a Non-Human Humanoid Hybrid of orc and ogre, are typically characterized as being stronger and smarter than either of their basic race — although, ironically, they have a counterpart called the Ogrillon which is pure Dumb Muscle.
The relatively obscure half-ogre is essentially the half-orc taken up a notch. In 3rd edition, the obscure Forgotten Realms monster called the Verbeeg returned as a half-ogre which favored its human side; they were smaller and weaker than normal half-ogres, but much smarter.
Half-elves are typically portrayed as combining the best traits of elfin and human, with human innovation, hardiness and purposefulness married to elven grace, longevity, magical affinity and foresight. From 3rd edition onwards, they also began to be portrayed as naturally diplomatic, as their innate ability to walk the lines between elven and human mentality made them naturally flexible and good at seeing the perspectives of other people.
In older editions of the game, it was implied if not outright stated that the halfling subraces of Stout and Tallfellow were respectively the result of crossbreeding between Hairfoots (the base halfling strain) and dwarves or elves. Whilst retaining all of the natural abilities of the halfling, stout halflings have dwarf-like constitutions, making them hardier and more resistant to poison, whilst tallfellows have elf-like longevity, stealth, and Super-Senses.
The Krynnish half-goblin is explicitly described as melding the best traits of both its parent races, which creates a confident, outgoing, natural leaders and diplomats.
The thoul, originally from Mystara, is a Heinz Hybrid of hobgoblin, troll and ghoul, creating a a creature with the brains of hobgoblin (widely considered the smartest of the goblinoids), the strength and Healing Factor of a troll, and the rending claws and paralytic touch of a ghoul. Ironically, these traits earn them as much resentment from their hobgoblin kin as they do respect, and thouls are typically viciously abused by pureblood hobgoblins, even as they are exploited as bodyguards. They later resurfaced in the Nentir Vale, where it was expanded that thouls were part of a Super Breeding Program; the fact they take more after trolls in temperament than hobgoblins, combined with being very slow-breeding by goblinoid standards, makes them arguably a failure. The bullying is also a calculated attempt to brutalize thoul slave-troopers so they will be too scared to use their abilities to rebel.
Half-dragons gain all the inherent powers of their non-draconic parent, most notably the ability to gain class-related skills far faster than the average dragon, but also gain draconic abilities such as increased strength, natural armor, and a draconic breath weapon. This same idea ultimately inspired the concept of half-fey, half-celestials and half-fiends.
In the Forgotten Realms, originally, dwarf women were rarer and more than half of all dwarves were sterile as a result of an ancient dwarven civil war in which the different sides abused a monster called a Deepspawn to produce vast armies of clone soldiers. As a result, less conservative dwarf clans encouraged intermarriage between their dwarves and human, gnomish or halfling spouses (usually dwarf men and non-dwarf women), because whilst the offspring of such unions were functionally identical to dwarves in appearance and abilities, their fertility and likelihood of being born female were both higher. This lore was ultimately retconned out in 3rd edition through an in-universe act of divine intervention called the Thunder Blessing.

Rom: Spaceknight: Hybrid is half human, half Dire Wraith... and all evil, having a particularly Squicky obsession with collecting superpowered women to bear his children. Not only can he shape-shift like a Wraith, but he's an incredibly powerful psychic, enough to prove a problem for a young X-Man (who's arguably the most powerful psychic in the Marvel Universe). Oh, and his true form is even more hideous than a normal Wraith's. The most tragic thing? His Wraith father was a Defector from Decadence and pretty much the only sympathetic Wraith we ever met - Hybrid himself was Used to Be a Sweet Kid until he was found and corrupted by other Wraiths.

Inverted in Farscape by Scorpius, the offspring of a Sebacean and a Scarran. He inherited both the Scarran bodily trait of massive internal heat generation, and the Sebacean inability to regulate body temperature easily — requiring him to use cooling rods inserted in his head to survive, which created a certain vulnerability. Other than that, however, he's quite badass, both physically and mentally. His hybrid physiology does allow him to distinguish heat signatures, however, which allows him to distinguish species and tell when someone is lying.

In the second Apprentice Adept triogy, Flach is half-human/half-unicorn (Unicorns in this universe being Voluntary Shapeshifters who can take human form). The increased magical potential from his human father gives him shapeshifting abilities above and beyond any other unicorn's. Most unicorns take years to master one (usually, but not always, human) or two alternate forms. We see five year-old Flach use three (human, vampire bat, wolf) at an age where most unicorn foals haven't even tried one yet.

The Vampire Diaries:
Werewolf-vampire hybrids are stronger, faster, and have better senses than ordinary vampires and werewolves, and become even more powerful under the full moon. They are also immune to vampire and werewolf weaknesses like sunlight and silver, possess the same venomous bite for vampires as a normal werewolf, and unlike normal werewolves can transform into their wolf form at will.
Vampire-witch hybrids were originally thought impossible due to the rules of nature; a witch that becomes a vampire loses her connection to nature, and thus her witch powers. However, a group of mutated witches called "Siphoners" had the ability to drain magic from any source to power their own, and because the rules of nature didn't take their brand of magic into account, they retain this ability after transitioning into a vampire. Afterwards, a Siphoner could feed off the same vampire magic that makes them immortal to cast spells. These Vampire-witch hybrids can also walk in the sunlight without harm, and even cure themselves of werewolf's venom by draining the magic out of it.
Witch-werewolf hybrids possess all the abilities of a normal werewolf while retaining their spell-casting powers. They also lose the weakness to silver a normal werewolf possesses.

In the Forgotten Realms, originally, dwarf women were rarer and more than half of all dwarves were sterile as a result of an ancient dwarven civil war in which the different sides abused a monster called a Deepspawn to produce vast armies of clone soldiers. Steven Universe:
The titular character is half-human, half-Gem. At first, the human half mostly just seems to be inconvenient for him, if not life-threatening; Steven's power grew slowly over his life, with some often dangerous Power Incontinence, and he isn't The Needless. But he eventually shows he has a number of additional powers, such as dream-walking (which a full gem would be unlikely to discover because they don't usually sleep), and several episodes suggest that his abilities will grow to become stronger than even his mother's were. The Season 1 finale shows one vital benefit to having an organic body: Steven is immune to advanced Gem technology that can instantly destroy the body of a regular gem. "Alone Together" reveals another ability he has that the other Gems lack: the ability to fuse with humans in addition to Gems. But probably the best thing about being a human/Gem hybrid is that since he was raised among both, he's the only person in the world who can easily empathise with and understand both sides.
Fusion between Gems also has an element of this. Gems of the same type fusing just create a larger version of that gem with no more than the combined strength of their components. Fusions made of different gems become stronger than the sum of their parts, often possessing new abilities as a result of their components' powers working off each other.

(Note that the images from the film of Uruk-hai being "birthed" from gelatinous sacs don't appear in the book.) It's speculated that the wizard may have cross-bred Orcs and humans, resulting in creatures that are larger and stronger than Orcs and are not bothered by sunlight. Demigods in Percy Jackson and the Olympians are often chosen by the gods to do their work because being half-god and half-mortal, they straddle both worlds and can go places and do things that either mortals or gods cannot. Downplayed in that they also have combined weaknesses to balance out the powers; for example, half-bloods can be Killed Off for Real using Celestial bronze, something that neither gods (who can't die) nor fully mortal humans (who are immune to magical weapons) can do. This is largely from a social standpoint. Demigods are much less powerful and much more vulnerable than Gods are, but they are allowed to interfere where Gods can't because they're exempt from divine penalty for doing so and mortals can freely observe them. Gods aren't allowed to directly mess with each other, or present themselves to the mortal public, but demigods are allowed to do both at their own peril.

Demigods & Magicians establishes this for Greco-Egyptian mythology between its components. Hybridized Greek and Egyptian magic can draw power from and freely travel through both mythological worlds. This means Greco-Egyptian god Serapis can No-Sell magic from any single mythos, and absorb power from them to the point he can bring both pantheons to heel and potentially Take Over the World. He can only be affected by similarly hybridized magic, like an Egyptian Magician using magic Greek artifacts or a Greek demigod being a Willing Channeler to an Egyptian god.

Invoked in My Hero Academia: after a Mass Super-Empowering Event, some people deliberately sought partners whose Quirks complemented their own in an attempt to create an even stronger child. The example we see in the story is Shoto Todoroki, whose father Endeavor arranged a marriage with a particular woman in order to combine his fire powers with her ice powers and have an offspring with both. As one might expect, the kind of man who would make such a cold decision proves a pretty undesirable father and husband. Partially subverted with Shoto's older brothers and sister, who didn’t end up with half fire and half ice Quirks. In addition, some parents' quirks can combine to make entirely new powers, such as a nitros + glycerine pairing resulting in Bakugo's explosion Quirk.

In SaGa Frontier. Humans increase their stats by developing their bodies and minds through training and battle, and can learn Sword, Gun and Fighting skills by using the requisite weapons in combat; they can also use nearly any equipment. By contrast, Mystics grow in power by absorbing monsters into their Mystic Weapons, gaining increases to stats and skills based on the monsters they have in their gear at any point, and many Mystics have equipment slots permanently occupied by mystical armor (which is often less useful than top-tier gear by a long shot); both species can learn Magic. Half-Mystic Asellus normally develops as a human, but can use Mystic Weapons, absorb monsters, and change into a Mystic form to boost her human abilities, yet lacks the problematic Mystic Armor. One Hero, Hold the Weaksauce doesn't even begin to describe it; this combination possibly makes her the most powerful being in the world, period.

Pony POV Series:
The Super-Soldier project that created General-Admiral Makarov invoked this by creating unicorn/deer hybrids, with Makarov being the only surviving and most successful one. It turns out that this is a complete lie: while the experiment did happen, it was an utter failure as genetics don't work that way. Makarov's powers are something else entirely.
Demi Gods have some unique powers due to their hybrid nature. While full Gods can be detected, Demi-Gods' mortal halves hide their divine half (which seems to be why Fluttercruel has gone mostly unnoticed as being one, even to beings that can sense she's in there). While full deities either need to cause a large distortion or create an Avatar to manifest into the mortal world, Demi-Gods have the ability to go back and forth between the mortal and spirit worlds at will. These abilities are why in Loose Canon (and later Ascended Canon), Venus helps a pegasus named Lovestruck merge with the Shadow of Existence of her demi-god son Cupid to become a Demi-God herself: it makes her rather ideal for rescuing ponies cause in Discord's endgame because she can use her full Demi-God power to protect ponies without being detected and can flee into the spirit world for quick escapes.

The Elder Scrolls:
Averted over the course of a single generation, as interbreeding between the races results in offspring who almost entirely take after the mother. For example, the child of an Altmer father and Nord mother won't come out as a mixed Magic Knight, but will be 99.9% Nord in appearance and abilities with the the chance of having a slight point to his ears or perhaps a slight change to his complexion.
Over the course of many generations however, this is played straight. For example, the Bretons were born of a eugenics program which mated the Direnni Altmer of High Rock with the Nedes, one of Tamriel's indigenous human tribes (or a collective name for those tribes) who are the common ancestors of most of the modern races of men (except for the Redguards). As a result, the Bretons have a greater natural magical prowess than their fellow races of men, while having hardier constitutions (especially in terms of inherent magical defenses) than their Altmeri ancestors. The Bretons make for exceptional Mage Killer Magic Knights. In Oblivion, Bretons are practically Game Breakers thanks to their racial trait, a 50% resistance to all magic, which can be stacked with a single item which also grants 50% resistance to magic as well as 35% chance to reflect spells, creating a character who is completely invincible to all magical and elemental attacks.

Devil May Cry:
In the classic continuity, Sid in the 2007 anime adaptation, Agnus in Devil May Cry 4, and Urizen in Devil May Cry 5 wonder why Dante is stronger than them, despite all three claiming a difference in power - Sid had absorbed Abigail's power before being defeated, whereas Agnus claims that Dante is "not human", and Urizen had gotten a recent power boost. While Dante never gives Agnus a completely straight answer, it pretty much boils down to how Dante not only has the power of demons, but also because he has the soul of a human that makes him more powerful, which can easily be applied to Nero as well and Vergil later on in DMC5. Director Hideki Kamiya of DMC1 has tweeted that it's because humans have heart, which demons lack, as well that Dante chooses to live as a human.

As Touhou characters cover damn near every slot in the Superpower Lottery (in addition to flight and Bullet Hell as standard), this ends up creating drunkards who can create portals to anywhere, a Cloudcuckoolander with power over ice and nukes, a girl throwing out Kamehame Hadokens at supersonic speeds...

In one of the Immortals After Dark books, the female protagonist is a vampire/phantom hybrid. Vampires can teleport and gain people's memories and abilities by drinking their blood, but are vulnerable to burning up in sunlight. Phantoms have telekinesis and the handy ability to go insubstantial, whereupon they can't be killed. The hybrid in question has all of these strengths and doesn't burn in the sun. The protagonist couple from one book, a demon and Valkyrie, appear in later books having had twin girls. Demons can teleport only with training, and Valkyries can't teleport at all, but their daughters can teleport from infancy.

StarCraft:
Two alien races were uplifted by the Xel'Naga: The protoss, who with their powerful bodies and Psychic Powers, are deemed to have "purity of form", and the Zerg, which with their mutative adaptability, Hive Mind and resultant singularity of purpose, have "purity of essence". These species are supposed to meet naturally one day and physically merge to become a new generation of Xel'Naga, with all the power that entails. However, agents of a renegade Xel'Naga interfere to create an artificial hybrid species as Elite Mooks and eventually a Custom-Built Host, making monsters that are certainly far stronger than any individual Zerg or Protoss.
Kerrigan's ultimate form involves combining purity of form and purity of essence with pure Xel'Naga essence, turning them into a Xel'Naga who can kill all of the above.

The Twilight Man: Zigzagged when it comes to hybrids of daymen (normal humans) and nightmen (the Pillar Men's race), nicknamed twilight men. The rare cases of first-generation hybrids that survive their pregnancy like Mary Joestar nee Holloway, are born sickly and usually die young. But if they live long enough to have children, their descendants will not only have the strength and vitality of the nightmen but also the ability to walk under the sun and use the ripple. This is why Jonathan Joestar, who is one-fourth nightman, is exceptionally strong as both a human and a ripple user.

El Goonish Shive:
Uryuoms frequently have several parents adding their genes to an egg, as they don't have typical genders. This ultimately results in a character being a hybrid of four different creatures, conserving many of their powers.
Grace is actually an example of this even by Uryuom standards, since two of her DNA sources were Uryuom and lespuko (a non-sapient species related to Uryuoms roughly as gorillas are related to humans). Adding lespuko DNA amplifies Uryuom shapeshifting, including giving Grace the ability to combine traits from different forms.

High School D×D has a number of hybrids through the story, both naturally born and artificially created, and in this story human ancestry actually comes with its own inherent power benefits. While angels and devils possess a wide range of magical powers, only humans can be born with the power of Sacred Gears, all of which have the potential of outstripping even the strongest pureblood. For example, Issei combines the magical potential of an artificially empowered devil with the human-born draconic power of Boosted Gear, while his rival Vali goes further by being a natural Human-Demon Hybrid descended from the immensely powerful Lucifer and possessing the rivalling draconic Divine Dividing, both cases resulting in them possessing greater potential than any pureblood demon or angel.

Doctor Who: In "Journey's End", the Doctor undergoes a "biological meta-crisis" in which he uses regeneration energy to form a clone which has some of Donna's personality. More importantly, the same process gives Donna the Doctor's mental prowess, which, combined with her "gut instinct" as a human, makes her a hypergenius capable of things even the Doctor would never think to do. Unfortunately, the human-Time Lord meta-crisis proves to be unstable, and would kill her if she didn't have her memory erased.

In Boktai, both Sabata and Django are essentially half-immortal on their mother's side and as a result are mostly immune to Klorofolun: while it saps their strength on contact, a normal human would instantly turn undead if they so much as touched it. It's also implied to be the reason Django was able to become a half-vampire (though he still would have turned completely had they not used the Pile Driver on him first), and the reason why Sabata was able to be imbued with Dark Matter.

In Mistborn: The Original Trilogy, there are two hereditary magic systems: Allomancy allows the user to ingest certain metals and "burn" them in their stomach to gain certain powers, and Feruchemy uses the same metals as storage devices, sacrificing attributes like strength and health and putting them into the metal to retrieve later. In the second era, the two bloodlines have mixed to create Twinborn, who can use one Allomantic metal and one Feruchemical metal. Depending on which two metals they have, they'll gain access to a unique "resonance" between the two powers (for example, Wax can use Allomantic steel to telekinetically push on metal and Feruchemical iron to store his weight; the two combined allows him to constantly press his weight against every nearby metal object, which makes bullets less accurate when shot at him). Having both powers for the same metal doesn't grant a resonance, but instead an ability called Compounding; by Allomantically burning your Feruchemical storages, instead of the normal Allomantic effect you get back the Feruchemical attribute stored in the metal, multiplied by ten. That can be immeidately stored again and potentially burned again for a hundred times the initial investment, creating an infinite loop that generates an endless supply of your Feruchemical attribute. Miles Hundredlives, a gold Compounder, demonstrates his infinite health by regenerating from shotgun blasts to the face and dynamite exploding while he was holding it.

The overarching story arc of the Underworld (2003) series is pretty much driven by this trope, though only the fourth movie features a child inheriting both parents' powers — other hybridization instances are carried out via vampiric blood absorption/transmission. While originally hybrids are thought to be hard to create, and a lot of research went into finding one way it may be possible, the series features the following examples:
Michael Corvin becomes a werewolf-vampire hybrid by getting subsequently bitten by Lucien, a werewolf, and Selene, a vampire, but only because he is a human descendant of the first immortal Alexander Corvinus, carrying the genetic mutation that allowed for the original strains of the immortal virus to be created.
Marcus the first vampire becomes one in the second movie, by drinking werewolf blood.
Selene becomes a vampire-Immortal hybrid (among other things, rendering her immune to sunlight) by drinking Alexander Corvinus' blood in the second movie.
The fourth movie reveals that Selene and Michael's daughter inherited both her dad's werewolf strength and her mom's vampiric abilities. Since most of Selene's pregnancy occurred after she became an immortal, it is likely that Eve inherited immortality, as well, making her a triple hybrid.
The third film proves the possibility of a vampire-werewolf hybrid child by birth. Sonja, a vampire and Viktor's daughter, is pregnant by Lucien, the above-mentioned werewolf. We never learn of the attributes of this particular hybrid, though, because Viktor kills Sonja long before it can be born.

Child of the Storm suggests that this will be the case with Harry. Thanks to his parentage (James was Thor), not only will he have the advantage of being a living magical reactor that all Asgardians do and develop his father's Super-Strength, he's also a relative of Jean Grey on his mother's side and inherited the vast psychic powers which, on top of everything else, will be stronger in that he can channel more energy. Unfortunately, it's more a case of Blessed with Suck. The Super-Strength comes through only in intermittent bursts meaning that he lives in mortal fear of shaking someone's hand and squashing it, the Psychic Powers come through violently, are initially dangerously uncontrollable and nearly get him, Ron and Hermione killed, and Word of God says that he'll never be as strong as Jean is (on the other hand, as Word of God also admits, this is not saying much) and he lacks the skills and abilities to use those powers effectively. Oh, and Dr. McCoy theorises that the steady altering of his body and brain chemistry by his Asgardian genes could mean that his Psychic Powers will eventually short-circuit his brain.

Dragon Ball:
Saiyan-Earthling hybrids have far more inherent power than pure members of either race. The effect seems to get stronger with successive generations. At age five, Gohan could flatten mountains and stagger Freeza if he got angry enough. Around the same age, Goten and Trunks could go Super Saiyan without even trying. At age one, Pan learns to fly by herself. There's some variation too- Word of God confirms that hybrids born without tails (Goten, Trunks, and Pan) are stronger than those born with tails (Gohan). However, an important downside for all the hybrids compared to pure-blooded Saiyans is that hybrids do not lust for battle, so they do not naturally develop their inherent fighting powers as much as pure Saiyans do.
Cell was created using DNA from Saiyans, Namekians, and... Freeza's race. As a result, he inherits the Namekians' ability to regenerate, the Saiyans' ability to gain power boosts after recovering from near-death, and Freeza's ability to remain alive without air and with most of his body missing. Which means that when he self-destructs and takes Kaio's planet with him (he intended to do that to Earth, but Goku teleported him away at the last second), he manages to survive, regenerate From a Single Cell, and come back even more powerful than before. Possibly justified as Cell is a genetically-engineered superweapon, but it's still a ridiculous example.

In the Nasuverse, this crops up fairly often, mostly in Tsukihime, since it has the most focus on it. Descendants of oni and humans are regularly shown as having supernatural powers that don't seem to originate from either side and the distinct advantage of being solidly grounded in reality, as opposed to regular oni, which are considered to be 'demons,' formless forces of nature with incomprehensible minds, morality, and physics that are given shape by human thought and aren't good at maintaining physical form (although, oni hybrids also have severe disadvantages that pure oni and pure humans don't, most notably that they are at constant risk of degenerating into feral, animalistic madmen). The powers held by oni hybrids are pretty much random: Akiha has Prehensile Hair, the ability to 'Plunder' heat and life force from things simply by looking at them, and an innate ability to create shikigami; SHIKI has his 'Death Resistive Body', the ability to heal his own wounds by eating human flesh, and the ability to control, shape, and solidify his shed blood; Kouma has Super-Strength, Super-Speed, Super-Toughness, and pyrokinesis; and Miyako has very mild Super-Strength. The only ability common to all half-breeds is magic resistance, which is apparently simply a natural quality of any human/supernatural creature hybrid.

Kamen Rider Kiva: The title character, Wataru Kurenai, whose Fangire side allows him to become Kiva and his human side prevents him from feeling the urge to drain human life energy. However, the fact that he is only half-Fangire also prevents him from being able to utilize the full power of Kiva. This is illustrated by the chains binding his Rider form. Furthermore, his human blood keeps his Fangire form in line. And if let loose, Wataru becomes more or less an animal as shown in #39 and #40.

In Silver and Amanda's bad ending, Silver instead assures the Barista that his alien protection organization, S.A.V.E., will do everything they can to protect them from "vanishing". In Gold Digger, the platinum dragon D'bra is actually a hybrid between two differing tribes of dragons, platinum on her mother's side and iron on her father's. This is notable as full dragons are rare enough between two partners of the same tribe (most eggs hatch into less drakes or wyrms), and hybrids are thus extremely powerful. However, not only are they extremely rare (six have been recorded in the entirety of draconic history), but also card-carrying demonstrations that With Great Power Comes Great Insanity. D'bra's own explosive temper is a considerable worry to the other dragons who are afraid of her snapping like all the others.

Played straight in Ben 10: Omniverse with two versions:
A downplayed example is when Ben is bonded with Skurd, a Slimebiote. A unicellular creature, he can take DNA and mix it up. He sticks around with Ben and can combine the DNA of the various aliens Ben has in the Omnitrix to form weapons or extensions for Ben to use while in alien form (including a sword made out of Celestialsapien matter).
A more direct example and likely inspired by his time with Skurd is with Omniverse's Ben 10,000 who invented the Biomentrix. Two gauntlets that when he smashes together, he can create a powerful hybrid alien. One very notable example was Atomic-X, a fusion of Atomix and Alien X (as in the two most powerful aliens in the Omnitrix.) The only downside is that it appears to be somewhat randomized and doesn't "save" any of the transformations.

The Camp Half-Blood Series:

In Charmed (1998), a common witch power is telekinesis and a common power for Whitelighters is a kind of Flashy Teleportation called "orbing". Paige, Chris and Wyatt are all half-witch, half-whitelighter, and therefore have a mixture of powers inherited from both sides. Paige and Wyatt have a combined "orb-telekinesis" where using telekinesis manifests like orbing. However, Chris has the witch form of telekinesis, which allows him to hide his witch-heritage until he's ready to reveal it because he can use his whitelighter powers without it looking "witchy". While whitelighters can be frozen by witch-magic, the trio are as immune to this power as any witch; they can also cast spells like a witch, orb up to the Elders like a whitelighter, and take responsibility for nurturing charges like a whitelighter and protecting innocents like a witch.

The Shadowhunter Chronicles:
Jonathan Morgenstern is a Shadowhunter who was fed demonic blood when he was still in his mother's womb. It gifted him superhuman strength and speed, even without the aid of runes, and immunity to most angelic weapons.
There are the half-faeries, children of the Fair Folk and humans. But with them it depends on whether to grow up among humans or in the faerie kingdom. Half-fairies that have grown among mankind hardly differ from humans except that they have some "elvish" facial features and body traits, and sometimes also one or two special powers. Half-fairies, however, who grow up in the fairy kingdom, qualify themselves completely for this trope. They can be as powerful as pure fairies, but have less weaknesses. Cold iron is painful to them, but they are much less harmful than pure fairies. Pure fairies can not lie, but must always tell the truth, but half-fairies can lie like everyone else.
Tessa Gray is the only known child of a demon and a Shadowhunter, which is normally impossible because the mix of angelic and demonic blood will kill a baby before it's even born. She has traits of a warlock in that she is immortal and has high affinity for magic, but she lacks the nonhuman mark that signifies a warlock, such as horns and multicolored skins, and can have children, something that cannot be said for other warlocks. However, her children do not inherit her immortality.
Ash Morgernstern is the child of Jonathan, a half-Shadowhunter half-demon, and the Seelie Queen. He is a Charm Person, capable of making people care for him.

The Pieces Lie Where They Fell: Page Turner is the tenth in her line to be a mix of unicorn and changeling, and refers to herself as a halfling or halfbreed after it comes out, though the exact percentage isn't certain at this point (her maternal ancestors have alternated between mating with full unicorns or full changelings ever since Lamella Armor the First was born to a unicorn and changeling pair). This mixed blood allows she and other changeling hybrids like her to gain Cutie Marks, and also renders them immune to the effects of the changeling detector lights.

Demon King GF: Zenith is the hybrid daughter of the dragonborn Alvida and the human Hero, and one comic has her transform into a dragon by complete accident. Considering Alvida was telling her husband how her fellow full-blooded dragonborns had lost that ability 500,000 years ago and how she currently can only make certain parts of her body more draconic, that makes her half-human daughter the first one to fully become a dragon in that time.

Yusuke of YuYu Hakusho is revealed to be the descendant of a very powerful demon who had fallen in love with a human. After his demon genes become active, he gains the ability to use both Demon Energy and his original human-based Spirit Energy, eventually creating something akin to Sensui's Sacred Energy by combining the two.

Not a 'power' per se, but in the Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers fic Offensive Care, the discovery that Chip and Dale share an unusual anomaly in their blood (despite the fact that they aren't biologically related) leads to Dale working out that he and Chip retain some fragments of mouse DNA from the time the team got 'mixed up' in "A Fly in the Ointment", with the long-term result that Dale and Gadget are compatible enough to have children despite being different species.

Inverted in Cuckoo Bird. Izuku is half-puca and half-elf, but his powers (i.e., some Voluntary Shapeshifting, Dreaming of Things to Come, and Glamour) are extremely limited compared to a pure-blooded elf like Beck, who can effortlessly teleport and make things appear out of thin air.
