Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_content_3'); })When there are more people than there are rooms, at least two people going to end up having to share a room. Sharing a room will usually lead to fighting, regardless of how well the two people get along normally. These fights will usually be over personal space, annoying habits, or lack of privacy.
Sometimes the people sharing the room are an Odd Couple, and do not get along well because of opposing personalities. Other times they are eager to share a room and end up hating it.
The two people sharing the room are usually
Siblings who have to share a room full time.
Two people have to temporarily share a room during a vacation.
And in some rare cases, a romantic couple.
If it escalates, it could result in This Is My Side.
Remember that this trope is only for people who do not get along while they are sharing the room. Two people Sharing a room is not this trope, its only this trope when it causes tension between the two.

In the The Simpsons episode, "Make Room For Lisa", when Homer damages the Bill of Rights at the local Smithsonian, he converts Lisa's bedroom into a cellular phone tower to pay off the damages. As a result, Lisa is forced to share a bedroom with Bart, who gives her a hard time, such as squeaking his chair when she's trying to do her homework. When Homer tells Bart to knock it off, he gives him a pen to click, which still annoys Lisa. To make matters worse, Homer finds pen-clicking fun and decides to race Bart with it.

The Others: Nicole Kidman's two children share a room, despite the fact that they are of opposite sexes and they and their mother live alone in an absolutely huge house. This allows for some scary scenes where the older one (an 8-year-old girl) deliberately scares her six-year-old brother.

Schitt's Creek: David and Alexis are adult siblings who are forced to share a run-down motel room, after previously having been raised in mansions with large private spaces of their own. Especially in the early seasons, this leads to much bickering.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine:
In the episode "The Search" Odo and Quark are forced to share quarters on the Defiant. Neither is particularly thrilled about the arrangement, but especially Quark...
In a later episode, Jake and Nog move into quarters together. As Jake is a bit of a slob and Nog is newly returned from Starfleet academy and used to order there is some friction at first.

The initial premise of Drake & Josh revolves around this happening between the titular characters, though the trope becomes less applicable as the series progresses.

Taken to an extreme in The Loud House, where everyone but Lincoln has to share a room with someone. Most of the time, the roommates get along, but occasionally it leads to friction. Examples include:
"Space Invader": Lynn gets into a fight with Lucy, and decides to bunk with Lincoln. Since she now becomes an annoying roommate to Lincoln, he tries to get Lynn and Lucy back together again.
"Room With a Feud": after tension between the various roommates runs high, Lincoln proposes a test to see if a change of roommates could solve the conflicts. His idea of using a personality test from an Ace Savvy comic fails, so Lisa tries it with a more scientific testing method of her own. This one has more succes, the only downside being that Lincoln and Lily are now paired as roommates (much to the latters dismay) while Lisa gets Lincoln's former room to herself (which she actually dislikes since no roommate means no test subject). In the end though, all Louds switch back to their old rooms and try to get along better with their usual roommates.
In the episode "One of the Boys", Lincoln travels to a dimension where he has ten brothers instead of ten sisters. In this alternate dimension, Lincoln does not have his own bedroom and is forced to share a bedroom with the male version of Lynn and Lars (the male counterpart of Lucy). He finds this bothersome since both he has to put up with Lars's vampire bats and Lynn's bullying.

Liv and Maddie: Joey and Parker are brothers who share a room. In one episode, they are fighting enough to resort to splitting the room in half. Parker chooses the bottom half, leaving Joey to build a pulley system to live in the upper half. It takes the parents faking a large storm to get them to quit bickering.
