A character is describing, talking about or listing the members of a group but then pointedly skips over one of the members in order to snub them. Sometimes the snub will be called attention to by having the left-out character call out their name in protest. Reasons for this trope vary. The person doing the listing perhaps hates that member in particular and intentionally forgets their name, as if to imply they don't exist to the lister. Perhaps they actually did forget and don't notice at first, acting Innocently Insensitive. Whatever the case, it's going to end in offense and annoyance. Supertrope of Aren't You Forgetting Someone? See also My Friends... and Zoidberg, And the Rest. |

The Simpsons Homer loses the Employee of the Week award to an inanimate carbon rod, and does not receive a Town Pride Award, which everyone else gets. A more extreme version when Sideshow Bob drives around the neighborhood with a list of people who will "not be killed by me"; everyone's on the list except Bart. Homer celebrates, in front of Bart, about how he is on the list. |

In American Dad!, the Smiths' house burns down, and Francine (who was away at the time) is naturally happy when it turns out that Stan and her adoptive parents got out safely. Then she hears Klaus clear his throat behind her, and hastily tries to say that he's the only one she was really worried about. Klaus responds "Too late, Francine. Too fucking late." Interestingly, this exchange might mark the point where Klaus' perverse obsession with Francine was Running Gagged, since it faded away pretty quickly following this episode.

The Real Ghostbusters: In "The Grundel", Ray jokes that their lack of calls means nobody loves them and is lectured by Egon about associating self-worth with being loved. Janine reassures Ray that she loves him, Winston and Peter, but ignores Egon, much to Egon's annoyance. The three named Ghostbusters make a quick exit, followed by a dejected Egon. In Survivor: Australia, contestant Jerri Manthey excluded Tina Wesson when asked to list the members of her alliance. This eventually resulted in Tina turning on the alliance and voting Jerri out of the game in eighth place. Tina went on to win. In the Reunion Season, Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. The infamous Russell Hantz, when asked to list his allies, made the exact same mistake. The kicker was that the excluded person was Jerri Manthey from the above example. Done twice on Kick Buttowski during the episode "Snowapocalypse" when Kick mentions that he has to save everyone in the school bus: Then once more right in front of her as he, Gunther and Wade save everyone, helping them onto the sleigh only for Kick to stop Gunther before he helps Kendall into it. |

In the Dragonriders of Pern novels, a group of Lords and Craftmasters use this to trick Lord Meron of Nabol to name the successor they wanted him to. By forgetting to mention their favored candidate half the time while they listed his potential heirs in their efforts to get him to name somebody as his heir, they convinced him that the frequently omitted heir was the one they wanted least, and he named that one as his heir in an attempt to spite them.
