Squirrels in My Pants	comment	A character somehow ends up with one or more small live animals (or even tiny people) inside their clothing. Naturally, it will cause the character to go crazy over it, twisting, squirming, and grabbing to get whatever's in their clothes out. This trope often appears as ants in one's pants. Occasionally, their movement and gyrations to get rid of it makes people think that they're dancing. Sometimes, the onlookers join in. In the North of England, people do this on purpose as performance art. No, we don't get this one either. This trope is also commonly used in Fanfiction as a form of revenge or pranks against others, or in worst case scenarios, torture or fetish. Compare to Accidental Tickle Torture, since some cases of this causes its victims to laugh. Compare Colossus Climb due to the similar nature of the trope. Also, expect some kind of Oh, Crap! reaction from the victim when they realize something or someone in their clothes. Also, compare Eek, a Mouse!! as such a scenario can lead to this trope occurring. Sometimes this is used as a form of Humiliation Conga or as a way to keep a character occupied. Also sometimes overlaps with Groin Attack if the said animal is harming or used to harm the person. If a small animal is entering a person's clothing for the purpose of killing the character, then you're looking at an Animal Assassin. note Though clothing invasion is not necessarily a prerequisite for that trope, they do sometimes overlap. It's also worth noting that it is not just animals and insects that can perpetrate this trope. As mentioned above, this trope can overlap with Incredible Shrinking Man or Lilliputians if a tiny or shrunken person enters a normal-sized person's clothing. Also, tiny humanoid characters (such as pixies or fairies) might do this to playfully or maliciously torment a character. This can also be done by child-sized characters (like certain elves or dwarves). Can also overlap with Colossus Climb or Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever if normal-sized characters invade a giant's clothes. Can also occur with Trouser Space. May be an example of Victoria's Secret Compartment or Marshmallow Hell if a tiny character decides to use a woman's cleavage for this purpose. Also, this trope applies to tiny animals or characters invading another character's clothing. For characters invading another character's body, see "Fantastic Voyage" Plot or Orifice Invasion.

As a metaphor, this is the origin of the UK journalistic phrase "a reverse ferret", meaning a news source totally changing its published opinion on a given issue. The story goes that Kelvin Mackenzie of The Sun believed journalists should be a constant source of annoyance to public figures, like a ferret up their trouser legs. If it turned out that public sympathy was with the figure being treated like this, however, Mackenzie would order his staff to reverse the ferret.
