Why Don't You Marry It?	comment	A tendency for people to mock others for having certain hobbies or things they like. They imply that it's a bit more than just "like". They might imply the feeling is actually romantic, or more recently, sexual. Say someone is talking about their stamp collection, and you get sick of it and say, "Why don't you marry it?" Or say, "What is it with you and your stamp fetish?" This may lead to a gag in which the character actually does marry the object. Actually used more in Real Life and meta fiction than in actual fiction. Some fans make a crack about authors or characters doing things that aren't really Fetish or Author Appeal, but seem like it anyway. Principal Skinner sucks up to Chalmers, as usual, prompting this exchange: The ending of "I Am Furious (Yellow)" has Bart repeatedly barbing Homer as they're sharing a nice father-son moment, with Homer being torn between fury and gratitude (since the outlet that Bart's frustrating behavior gives his anger proved literally lifesaving to him over the course of the episode). Naturally, Bart's response to Homer telling him he loves him is "If you love me so much why don't you marry me?"
