Occasionally, an individual (usually the hero) when being tracked, will discover the Tracking Device. One's first instinct may be to destroy the device, but why deprive oneself of the opportunity to mess with your enemies? So the hero promptly attaches the device to something else that (preferably) moves a lot and away from himself, causing the trackers to follow it all over the place before they finally discover that they've been duped. Ed, Edd n Eddy: In the episode "If It Smells Like an Ed", as part of his revenge scheme against the Eds for his wedgie, Jimmy plants several fake clues for the trio to track while he sets up the rest of his plan to ensure the three won't be able to escape from the kids' ire and The Kanker Sisters. A variant of this occurs in "Mission Ed-Possible". Edd is entrusted by his school's principal to deliver Ed and Eddy's report cards to their parents, but Ed and Eddy want to change their failed grades and spent the entirety of the episode chasing after Edd. When they finally do catch him however, it turns out to be all for naught as Edd secretly entrusted the report cards to Rolf just before they both left the school building, so Rolf can deliver the report cards in Edd's place while the latter distracted Ed and Eddy with the chase. This leads to a win-win scenario for both Edd and Rolf, as the former completed his task from the principal while the latter received the "Report Card Delivery" badge from the Urban Rangers. |
