The second arc, while still violent (lots and lots of people die), tones down the amount of violent dismemberment that is involved. The easiest example to point to is the Red Light Green Light game in both parts. In part 1, anyone who fails gets their head blown clean off their body. In part 2, anyone who fails gets a lethally giant hole blasted through their chest, but their head remains fully intact. Subsequent games at the start are similarly less gory, though this loosens up as the story progresses. It ends up being bloodier at least, with most characters just turning into puddles of blood when they're killed. This is shown in events like Rock, Paper, Scissors and Old Maid where the losers just burst into blood.

The Heart: Kagemaru Shimura - The least capable of the group until his Character Development. Later gets promoted to Lancer and exchanges his position with Natsumegu when he and Akashi get forced to participate in The Portrait of Death.
