One is his classmate, Miyuki Kashima, and the other is Miyuki Wakamatsu, his sister who is not related by blood. Disappeared Dad: Miyuki and Masato Wakamatsu's father is never shown. Every time he is about to come home, he just goes back to work, going as far as working during his daughter's wedding, and Adachi even lampshades this by stating he hasn't even drawn him yet.

Anguished Declaration of Love: Masato declares this to his stepsister during her wedding to his best friend. Despite this, it still comes off rather sweet.

Company Cross References: In episode one of the anime, Masato ponders taking Miyuki (Kashima) to a movie and wonders what sort of movies she likes. Lum from Urusei Yatsura appears in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. Both UY and the Miyuki anime were produced by Kitty Films and aired on Fuji TV.note The first UY movie, Only You, premiered in 1983, the same year as the Miyuki anime debuted.

Comically Missing the Point: After failing his reexamination, Ryuuichi is attacked by someone with two kitchen knives. In what is either a Crowning Moment of Funny or Crowning Moment of Awesome as well, he tells the attacker that he doesn't need to buy a kitchen knife, dodges being stabbed in the back without even TRYING, and then beats the guy up... and accuses him of inconsiderately asking to cook for him. He then goes on to prevent a man's suicide because he was going to jump himself, and then goes on to rescue two people from a fire, becoming an Accidental Hero.
