Prison School (監ç�„å¦åœ’ / "Kangoku Gakuen") is a 2011-2017 seinen series by Akira Hiramoto (of Me and the Devil Blues fame).Hachimitsu Private Academy is an elite all-girls boarding school infamous for its draconian rules and harsh penal code. When five boys — Kiyoshi Fujino, Takehito "Gakuto" Morokuzu, Shingo Wakamoto, Jouji "Joe" Nezo and Reiji "Andre" Andou — are admitted as part of a new co-ed program, the girls seem to give them the cold shoulder. Unbeknown to them, the notorious and powerful "Underground Student Council" of Hachimitsu— misandric president Mari Kurihara, sadistic vice-president Meiko Shiraki, and cute but abusive secretary Hana Midorikawa— have issued an edict forbidding any communication between the genders.Soon enough, the boys find themselves in trouble when they are caught peeping on the girls' baths. They are sentenced to one month of jail time in a giant prison inexplicably located at the centre of the campus, where they will undergo a "rehabilitation program" devised by the Underground Student Council. Can the boys survive a month of physical, mental and emotional abuse without losing their minds?The series received an anime adaptation by J.C. Staff for the Summer 2015 season, and has received a live-action series in October 2015. Weekly publications for the manga ended on Dec 25, 2017, making a total of 277 chapters. He's easily convinced by Mari to fill out a withdrawal form, which he almost does until Chiyo stops him. After the boys' first attempt at recovering the documents of OBE fails, Kiyoshi's notes that they're not even sad about it, just broken. They continue their routine just waiting for their inevitable expulsion. The sole exception is Gakuto, who Kiyoshi describes as being not just broken, but destroyed. Later after she hears that Kiyoshi could be expelled she decides it wasn't fair of her to not allow Kiyoshi to explain himself. After he does, the two mend their relationship. After Chiyo stumbles on documents for OBE, she tries to alert Kiyoshi by arranging the pieces of her board game to spell out a warning. As Meiko escorts the boys back to their cells Kiyoshi spots the warning. However, he read it from the wrong angle so the message was gibberish to him. When he later writes the message for Gakuto to see, the latter is able to figure out that it's a warning but by the time they realise this, OBE is too far ahead for them to stop it. Kiyoshi and Mari have enormous difficulty in communicating to their allies outside of the prison the supplies they require to break out, something that ends up costing them several days of valuable preparation time. Intentionally or unintentionally invoked by Hana, when she tore up the note Chiyo gave to Kiyoshi. The message was originally meant for Chiyo telling Kiyoshi to take care and remember Tanabata. Kiyoshi put the broken pieces together and interpreted it as Chiyo telling him to kill himself. | |

The students who came to the scene assumed that Meiko killed the chicks for food, and the news quickly spread through a circular Kate wrote and printed out in advance. With Meiko unable to explain the incident, she blames herself and regresses to her old, submissive personality, and the USC gets a one-week extension because Mari went away from her work zone, which was counted as a breakout. As if all that wasn't bad enough, Kate uses the aftermath to announce her proposal to disband the USC. Considering the damage to the USC's reputation after their fall from grace, it certainly seems like a tempting proposition. She also orchestrates one against Chiyo. When some of Kate's lackeys threaten to beat up Mayumi unless she strips for blackmail pictures, she surprises them with her sumo skills. Unfortunately Kate anticipated it, and even brought the Chairman to the scene from too far a distance to be able to hear the context, forcing him to have her serve time with her sister. Mari on Kate. Mari manages to break out by smuggling in a pair of handcuffs under the assumption that a paranoid Kate would bind the two girls together to make sure Mari couldn't escape from her sight, then making it look like Kate's room had been broken into, thus forcing Kate to take Mari with her when she went to investigate. Had Kate not cuffed Mari to herself the plan would have failed, but Mari correctly guessed that Kate wouldn't pass up the opportunity to be chained to her hatecrush, something proven true when the latter fell for her Honey Trap and has sex with her on camera, using the footage as leverage to Kate's pictures of her and Kiyoshi also apparently having sex. | |

Turned out that the "urine leaking" was actually the tea which Kiyoshi secretly poured onto the floor and thus pretending that he lost his bladder control. When Kiyoshi and Hana were naked under the blankets to resolve their pee-related feud, Chiyo snapped away one of the blankets, as if she knew the pair was there. It turned out that she was only trying to tidy up the room. Gakuto finds himself in a box playing a guessing game with a very forward Bitch-senpai and it appears that she had him finger her... the next chapter reveals that his hand was actually under her armpit. Chiyo asked Hana whether she liked "him". Hana thought Chiyo found out about her crush on Kiyoshi. Turned out Chiyo was merely referring to the frog that Hana was staring at. After Kiyoshi made his love confession to Chiyo, she bowed down to Kiyoshi for what appeared to be an apology due to her rejecting him. It turned out that she was apologizing to Hana instead - the feeling Chiyo had for Kiyoshi was mutual. Not that it resulted in a happy ending... Subverted: Kiyoshi having to hide the phone which Mari had accidentally dropped onto the floor. Jo was already running away because he no longer wanted to help Gakuto understand yaoi since it involves homoerotic roleplaying. So when Kiyoshi tries to call for his help by begging him to go out with him, Jo runs away even faster. He tries to appeal to Gakuto's love of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms by asking Gakuto to become his "Zhuge Liang". He means a strategist (Zhuge Liang was a formidable one) but to Gakuto, who has been researching yaoi involving Zhuge Liang, it comes across as Kiyoshi wanting to sleep with him. Gakuto runs away because because he doesn't feel worthy. Andre can't listen to anyone since he's severely depressed over Meiko's personality change. After Kiyoshi gets caught spying for the USC and sent to prison again, they find out about the conspiracy from Chiyo but they still refuse to help. Jo and Shingo refuse to take part in anything that would inadvertently help the USC, Gakuto doesn't want to go against the Aboveground Student Council since his love interest, Mistuko, is a member and Andre is still a mental wreck. | |

After the USC plot to expel the boys is revealed to the chairman, Hana softly asks Kiyoshi if he had unlocked the back entrance of the prison while she was unconscious, which was, ironically, the result of a kiss she had forced on him. Kiyoshi regretfully confirms this saying he took advantage of the weakness in her heart and apologizes. In spite of his apology Hana charges at him in a furious rage, kicking him so hard she injured the arm he used to block the kick. She almost punches him in the face while he's on the floor but ends up punching Mari instead, who had jumped in to shield Kiyoshi as anymore abuse to him in front of the chairman would have gotten Hana in more trouble. Kate freaks out hard when Mari reveals the truth of her Honey Trap. Hana again appears to be going through this right at the end of the series' penultimate chapter when her ploy to ruin Kiyoshi's love confession to Chiyo failed. | |

Kiyoshi can't do it since Chiyo's also in the class so Gakuto decides to take the bullet. Kiyoshi begs him not to, since doing so will assuredly ruin any chances of him getting a girlfriend but Gakuto reasons that not being able to buy the Guan Yu action figure which only comes out once every four years is worse than not being able to get a girlfriend for three years and does it anyway as Kiyoshi sheds Manly Tears. After finding Gakuto's Guan Yu action figure, the next day Meiko has the boys lines up outside, brings out the toy and slowly starts breaking it in front of them. She won't stop until one of them claims the toy. This leaves Gakuto with two options. Watch as his prized possession is slowly broken in front him or claim the toy, which, since Meiko knew the only day the toy was sold was on the day Kiyoshi broke out, would also mean admitting to have aided Kiyoshi and get the boy's jail time extended even further. He decides to Take a Third Option by diving for the toy, looking at it one last time and smashing it to pieces to prove to Meiko it doesn't belong to him. | |

Even before the start of the final story arc, she intentionally ruined Kiyoshi's reputation, claiming to do it for the survival of the Underground Student Council in the contest. She asked Chiyo to stay away from Kiyoshi, using the excuse that Chiyo's own reputation was at stake from looking up a recently disgraced Kiyoshi. When Chiyo asks Hana to pass a note to Kiyoshi on her behalf, Hana ripped it up and shoved it into Kiyoshi's face. When Kiyoshi re-assembled the note he misinterpreted it as a declaration of hate, when it was really just Chiyo expressing her concern. In a private conversation with Chiyo, she deliberately attacked Kiyoshi's character to test the Chiyo's reaction, and was upset when she learnt that Chiyo herself had a crush on Kiyoshi too. Subverted: There was just one instance she showed kindness to Kiyoshi, and that was when she helped Kiyoshi plan his love confession and also paid him to do chores for her - In practice it was a paid date in all but name. She apparently wanted to make her love confession before Kiyoshi make his to Chiyo but her pride held her back at the last moment. After her own love confession to Kiyoshi failed and learning that Kiyoshi and Chiyo had a mutual crush on each other, Hana knew she was running out of options. Hence she intervened during the Love Confession event itself and shamelessly gave Chiyo a disparaging account of Kiyoshi in the hopes that Chiyo will reject him. She succeeds. | |

In general, with the exception of Andre, all of the boys go from fairly cartoonish-looking to being as realistically drawn as the girls. All the 3 girls in the USC looked slightly different in their initial appearance in the manga. In particular, Meiko was initially drawn with more realistic body proportions before Flanderization sets in and her breasts grew to a ridiculous size.
