> Captchalogue sick beats.Homestuck's music is associated with and released by a small record label, called What Pumpkin (named after a popular Running Gag / meme from MS Paint Adventures as a whole). This small group of musicians has created a vast variety of original music in myriad genres and styles, and a similarly large variety of remixes and covers of both their own tracks and external ones, to the point that there is more than enough music to provide leitmotifs for everyone and everything in Homestuck. So many remixes and leitmotifs, the fandom has catalogued all of them.By and large, the first several albums are composed entirely of music that has been used in the comic, but as the comic has gone on, the artists simply churn out more music than Andrew Hussie could ever possibly use, much to the benefit of the readers. As such, music on this page falls into one of three categories: Numbered Volumes: Contain most of the music used in the comic, and pertain most closely to the events of the story. Side Projects: Often explore groups or material running parallel to the story. At least two have been "composed" by characters in the comic itself. Solo Albums: Beginning with the release of Strife note Alternia was also a solo album, but it doesn't fit in with the pattern of the others, being priced at $6.12, and the themes are recurring, Andrew has decided to showcase the talents of the individuals of the music team by giving them all a chance to perform solo. Typically, these albums explore genres not normally done on the team albums, and play around with the format more. These albums typically have music that does not appear in the comic at all. Please note that on October of 2019, many albums on the official Bandcamp were either retired or merged. Thus, what you see does not correlate to the official Homestuck bandcamp. The fans have also not been idle, and have made their own musical contributions.Gushing about this stuff, of course, goes on the associated Awesome Music page. However, it is of note that the Homestuck label is perhaps the most successful label on Bandcamp, and while Bandcamp does not release direct statistics, many of the Homestuck albums are top sellers long after their releases.Artists on the music team with their own pages: Michael Guy Bowman Toby Fox

Homestuck Vol. 6: Heir Transparent is the tenth official album. It has 21 songs. Some of them were previewed in a prototypical form in a hidden room months before anyone knew they'd be on the album. It was released on January 5, 2011. It contains: Frost (featured here) Courser Umbral Ultimatum (featured here) GameBro (Original 1990 Mix) (featured here, combined with two other songs.) Tribal Ebonpyre I Don't Want to Miss a Thing (featured here as an Easter Egg, also featured here) MeGaLoVania (featured here, previewed in an earlier form in the music room here note The song originated as a Final Boss composition for a Halloween-themed Game Mod of EarthBound that Radiation did years before Homestuck. Sampling: "Black" opens with a pitched-down version of the line "make her a member of the Midnight Crew" from "I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew" by Eddie Morton. "Dupliblaze COMAGMA" features snippets of "Drop It Like It's Hot" by Snoop Dogg. "Mayor Maynot" samples the Mailtime song from Blue's Clues, and Judge Dredd's quote, "I AM THE LAW!" "Blackest Heart (With Honks)" samples "Miracles" by Insane Clown Posse as a play on Gamzee's religious devotion to a cult similar to the Posse. "The Blind Prophet" samples some of Cyclops' Marvel vs. Capcom quotes. And it also has a voice clip of Hank Hill saying "Bobby!" at the end.

Fake Band: The Midnight Crew, a gang of violent mobsters, are cast as a jazz band with their album The Midnight Crew: Drawing Dead. Their rival gang, the Felt, get their own album which reflects their temporal abilities and larger cast size by looping and reversing orchestral music in a genre dubbed "temporelechestral." The Wanderers of the album of the same name are a group of aliens exiled to a long dead Earth, and as such there music is more tribal and primitive than the often techno-inspired Homestuck fair.

Epic Rocking: The most extreme example is "Cascade," a thirteen minute long soundtrack billed as one song that accompanied the end of Homestuck's fifth act. It consists of four parts combined together by the composition of Toby Fox. The longest singular song is "Renewed Return," a choral song that clocks in at nine full minutes and ten seconds. Right behind "Renewed Return" is "Overture (Canon Edit)" from Act 7, which is a two minute extension of Clark Powell's "Overture" from Symphony Impossible to Play, a song that's nine minute on the dot and was specifically made to conclude the Homestuck webcomic.

Leitmotif
 Homestuck (Music) / int_9f6fb586
comment
Leitmotif: Most characters have not only a song (or several!) associated with them, but also an instrument. John has Showtime, Doctor, and nearing the finale, Pipeorgankind (though Pipeorgankind seems to mostly be a remix of Showtime). Rose has Aggrieve and Chorale for Jaspers as her main themes, the second having been bootstrapped from Jaspers. Like with John, Aggrieve stops being a noticeable theme for her sometime around Act 5. Rose is also associated with violins. Dave has Beatdown, Atomyk Ebonpyre, and Sunslammer as his themes, the last serving primarily as a Recurring Riff. Dave is also primarily associated with synths (though not to the extent of the Trolls), turntables, and drum kits, as well as guitars to a degree. Jade has The Beginning Of Something Really Excellent and Frost as her themes. Much like with John, as of Act 5, her "main" theme is considered ambiguous. Jade is also associated with both bass guitars and flutes. The Trolls in general are associated with the track Alternia, and primarily have different varieties of synths as their associated instruments. Karkat has Crustacean, and is primarily associated with chiptune-esque synths. Terezi has The Lemonsnout Turnabout and is primarily associated with harpsicords. Gamzee has Blackest Heart and is primarily associated with honking. Tavros has dESPERADO ROCKET CHAIRS, and is associated with faux-spanish flavored music, primarily trumpet synths. Vriska has Spider's Claw and Crystalanthemums, and is associated with slow paced guitar synths. Kanaya has Virgin Orb, and is associated with ethereal ambient synths. Sollux has The La2t Frontiier, and is primarily associated with fast paced overdriven guitar synths, in addition to occasional duality themed songs, that alternate pace and style. Aradia has psych0ruins, and is primarily associated with what is best described as a wailing or crying synth riff. Nepeta has Walls Covered In Blood and is associated with Mario Paint music. Eridan has Eridan's Theme and does not have a an identifiable associated instrument, more often echoing the instruments of other trolls. Equius has Horschestra, and is primarily associated with slow trumpets and beats, which can only be defined as proud. Feferi had Keepers and later, Love You (Feferi's Theme). She is primarily associated with faux-tropical music. Meenah is associated with dubstep style wubs and her theme is Fuschia Ruler. Kankri is associated with devotional music and his theme is Iron Infidel. Latula is associated with harpsicords and orchestral music like Terezi, but with cheesy Gamer Girl beats and raps. Her theme is Game Glr (A remix of Teal Seer and Game Grl), an unreleased song. Porrim is associated with etheral ambient synths like Kanaya, only taken in a more cheerful and melodic direction. Her theme is Darling Dolorosa, an unreleased track. As his theme Lord English has English. He is associated with many instruments associated with the protagonists, including pianos, violins, and honking. The Midnight Crew does not have identifiable themes, though they are all associated with dark jazz. They do however have instruments, seen rather than heard. Spades Slick is associated with pianos. Diamonds Droog is associated with saxophones. Clubs Deuce is associated with oboes. Hearts Boxcars is associated with cellos. WV has Vagabounce, which reflects on his sillier antics as the mayor of Can Town. PM has Litrichean Rioghail, representing her dutiful nature. The other Exiles have their own themes though none have been used in the comic itself so far: AR has the bonus track Tomahawk Head. Windswept Questant/The White Queen has Questant's Lament. Writ Keeper/The White King has Riches To Ruins. Skaia is associated with Skies of Skaia. Jack Noir has Liquid Negrocity as his theme. He is also associated with trumpets and heavy guitars.

Shout-Out: "Dawn of Man" from Mobius Trip and Hadron Kaleido references the titular Dawn of Man scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The song also contains the phrase, "This goodly frame," to refer to Earth. The title of one of the songs from Vol. 10 is "You Killed My Father (Prepare To Die)", in reference to the famous scene from The Princess Bride. "Humphrey's Lullaby" from Felt references Professor Mayonaka'snote The creator of the Midnight Crew fanventure Felt, in which Doze owns a teddy bear named Humphrey.

Progressive Instrumentation: "Omelette Sandwich" is about Eggs, who repeatedly travels back in time to amass an army of himself whenever he needs to fight. True to form, the song itself periodically "rewinds", layering in new instruments and speeding up each time to reflect how the character grows more frenzied as he brings in more copies of himself. At the very end, the instruments cut out in the reverse order as the song slows back down.
