The duo consists of singer Dan Avidan and keyboardist Brian Wecht, although they adopt the respective characters of "Danny Sexbang" and "Ninja Brian" in their music, which they base most of their comedy on in writing humorous lyrics and concepts.Danny Sexbang is a Jewish man who is the world's most handsome, erotic lover, according only to himself. To this end, songs often involve Danny's humorous attempts to flirt with and impress a girl, which amount to crude sexual advances and aggrandising of his own achievements, often to the level of absurdity. Ninja Brian is a homicidal, sociopathic and incredibly deadly ninja with an array of killing methods both mundane and fantastic, and a bizarre obsession with Danny, which often results in most people around him dying in horrific ways. He is never seen without his mask (with a sole exception, listed below), and many videos also end with Brian killing Danny.In addition to the main NSP releases, the duo also has a separate series of non-comedic cover albums of classic rock and pop songs from the '70s and '80s titled Under the Covers, with usual backing instrumentation from the Canadian group Tupper Ware Remix Party (better known as TWRP).Their YouTube channel can be viewed here, and their first two albums (NSFW, Strawberries and Cream) are available on SoundCloud. They are also on Twitter and Instagram.Danny and Brian are also both members of Game Grumps. Danny has co-hosted the main show with Egoraptor as "Not-So-Grump" since 2013, when the original "Not-So-Grump" (JonTron) left, and additionally co-founded its sister show Steam Train. Brian is the most recent addition to the show, becoming an official Grump in November 2015. Depending on the Writer: What the Danny Sexbag character is In-Universe depends on the song. Sometimes he's a badass Ninja/superhero/rockstar/Sex God with an Awesome Ego who gets into a lot of high-octane, low-budget misadventures. Other times these stories are all made-up and he only thinks that he's all these things, being repeatedly abused by his only friend Ninja Brian and rejected by a growing list of women who find him obnoxious. To be fair, some of the songs (such as "Rhinoceratops vs. Superpuma") seem to hint that Danny is an Unreliable Narrator. So, it might be the songs where Danny is a superhero Sex God might him making stuff to make himself look cooler. | |
