Spoon is a rock band from Austin, Texas formed in 1993. The current lineup includes founders Britt Daniel and Jim Eno, as well as Alex Fischel and Gerardo Larios. The group has a very catchy and distinct sound that blends classic rock/punk influences with the experimentation and techniques commonly associated with modern Alternative Rock. To date, they currently have ten studio albums to their name: Telephono (1996) A Series of Sneaks (1998) Girls Can Tell (2001) Kill the Moonlight (2002) Gimme Fiction (2005) Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007) Transference (2010) They Want My Soul (2014) Hot Thoughts (2017) Lucifer On The Sofa (2022)Outside of Spoon, Britt Daniel has been involved in a number of side projects such as remixing and producing music for other bands like Interpol and White Rabbits, contributing to the original score for Stranger Than Fiction, and most recently, co-founding a new band with members of other established indie acts called Divine Fits. Their well-received debut, A Thing Called Divine Fits was released in 2012.

Early-Installment Weirdness: Their first couple of releases, while still fairly popular with critics and fans, have a "louder" and rawer feel to them that could catch people who heard their more recent and popular work first off guard.

Cover Version | |
Spoon (Music) / int_cff53786 | comment |
Cover Version: Spoon have recorded cover versions of songs, most of which were originally recorded by other independent artists: "Don't You Evah" is a cover of a song by The Natural History, originally titled "Don't You Ever". Because The Natural History's album People That We Meet was delayed while they shopped for a new label, Spoon's version was technically released first by a few months - The Natural History's version was also released on Spoon's Don't You Evah EP alongside various remixes. "Held" from Lucifer On The Sofa is a cover of a song by Smog. "Towner" was originally recorded by aMiniature. "Me And the Bean" from Girls Can Tell was recorded by The Sidehackers. "I Just Don't Understand" from They Want My Soul was originally performed by Ann-Margret.
