Gravestonecemetery, or Gravestone, was an event in the Undertale Tumblr RP community. Its central focus was the blog Gravestonecemetery, and deals with The Hedge, a group of Floweys whose goal was to stop all resets to give themselves a happy ending. After a resistance banded together under the false assumption that The Hedge aimed to do something terrible, Gravestone was hinted at in an ask to the leader of the disbanding resistance. The blog then officially appeared on February 11th, but didn't start taking action until the 13th.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })It features a mausoleum in a cemetery with a magical book. Characters may sign their names in the book, or, if they feel like it, draw lewd images. The book doesn't care. Few people actually know what "signing" it does.A countdown started soon after. A few weeks in, a force, later discovered to be known as Inky wellington (yes, that's his name), befriened The Hedge's Temmie and convinced her to create paper voodoo dolls of the members of Hedge. On Friday February 26th, all those that had signed the book were taken to a room where Inky and Temmie revealed themselves and their paper voodoo dolls. Inky managed to convince the members to befriend Temmie and release the dolls' link to her.In a shocking turn, the dolls then began to grow and puppet the Hedge members, forcing them to fight. The dolls either vanished upon hitting half HP, or caused the members to turn into paper dolls. Inky himself was killed in the fight, where-after Temmie absorbed his ink.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_2'); })At 12:00 AM on Saturday February 27th, the group's Chara was murdered by a spire of ink, and a new foe who had been controlling that spire revealed himself: Besmirch, an evil version of Arbiter, the former "leader" of The Hedge who had vanished several days before. He told himself to be a flower made of magical ink and in control of new ink-based powers. He recruited two of the Hedge members almost instantly, turning them into inks, and recruited several more in the following days. His murder of Chara, however, pitted most of the rest of The Hedge against them. The remaining Floweys labeled themselves The Refugees. On the 29th, when the original countdown ended, many of the Hedge members started feeling as if they were burning. The next day, others believed to have powers they didn't, such as shifting into blocks of ice. The Floweys afflicted needed ten plus signs from followers to alleviate their afflictions, all of which were obtained quickly.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_3'); })Around this time, Gravestone appointed guards around the cemetery to guard the gates. On March 7th, fed up with Inky's numerous betrayals and failed missions, Gravestone ended them. Around this time, the dispersed resistance began to group together again and join with The Refugees to try and stop Gravestone.March 12th and 13th, The Refugees were invited to a lucid dream. There, they met versions of monsters from other universes that Gravestone had destroyed. They learned from a few that Gravestone stole monsters and turned them to ink, and that others were forced into graves, and that Gravestone was very protective of these graves. Monsters would also fall victim to illnesses. On the last day, instead of turning to ink, the ink guards fell to the ground as corpses (dream sequences:day 1 day 2).On March 19th, The Refugees, Resistance included, began their fight against Gravestone. They were greeted at the gates of the cemetery by stone gargoyles, inked monsters, and their former Hedge members. The inked could only be spared below 25% health. Surprisingly, not a single inked was killed. On March 26th, The Refugees began the final fight with Gravestone. The beast turned out to be a giant earth titan covered in the coffins of the trapped monsters it used for fuel, with the mausoleum and Lucida's coffin at the top. After realizing Gravestone was using its monsters to create a shield, The Refugees began to empty out coffins and free the trapped monsters. Once the trapped monsters were free, they attacked it with a special anti-ink mixture designed to be Gravestone's weakness, coating various weapons with it. On April 4th, Gravestone absorbed the ink of all its helpers (Besmirch aside since he'd had a backup plan), restoring the last of the inked to their normal selves. On April 14th, The Refugees gave their last attack against Gravestone. Lucida, who'd been freed by Gaster and Cosmic, had gathered all the monster ghosts that made up Gravestone's ink and prompted them to revolt, dealing the last-and final-attack against Gravestone. The event officially ended shortly afterwards.

Darker and Edgier: Compared to The Hedge, seeing as Gravestone actually has an evil plot. Literally, seeing as all the gravestone inks are black and white or grey-scale compared to the colorful members of The Hedge. Also darker and edgier compared to their former selves, as Besmirch himself said that they're turned into their "negative aspects".

Cruel to Be Kind: Inky stated that his whole reason for tormenting The Hedge and having Temmie make his voodoo dolls was to get them to be better friends. It's worth noting that Inky said the dolls weren't supposed to grow or puppet those present. It's implied either Inky was lying, or Gravestone was the one that puppeteered them.

Stuff Blowing Up: Happened a lot in the Gravestone fight, as there were various Blasters being used, Gravestone lit itself on fire at one point, and it turns out the anti-ink mixture was very flammable. Even more so near the end when Gravestone was beginning to collapse. Case in point, Grephil thought it was a good idea to chuck a bag full of 1000 gallons of anti-ink at a flaming Gravestone. Somehow, it didn't kill everyone and everything in the vicinity. Also a case of Defeat Equals Explosion in the paper doll incident. When Potted's doll was one-shot, it exploded.

A lot of aid was given to The Refugees in the form of cures, shields, weapons, food, symbols, and other things through askers. Justified, as not only are the Floweys meta enough to call to us for help, but the actual fight against Gravestone would have been near impossible without this aid.

Race Against the Clock: A rather odd case, and one where the villain wins. Chara's death was counted down to, marked by a comment and increasing of symptoms roughly every 15 minutes until they died. Also the case with the plot, as there was a countdown when everyone signed the book. The countdown's end triggered a set of strange symptoms for The Hedge members, including the sensation of burning and imaginary powers.

Ultimately, however, he decided to wipe them from Sans's memory after Sans assured Inky that Temmie wouldn't abandon him. Inky also gave Nerdy false memories to torment him. Unfortunately, it didn't have the desired effect of making Nerdy rampage. This may have been on purpose, however, as it was when Inky was starting to question his morals. Inky also gave Grephil's new Asriel fake memories to hide the fact it wasn't the real one.

Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: Arbiter, on two occasions. If it wasn't for the spores he'd put in Chara, Besmirch wouldn't have been able to kill them so easily. And as it turns out, his touching and reading the letter sent to him was what infected him with ink. And by extension, everyone who touched the ink, whether in letters or signing the book. The Hedge ignoring Potted made it so much easier for him to join Gravestone.

Back from the Dead: Besmirch defied death when he was still Arbiter. Subverted when he showed up and The Hedge thought he was Arbiter, only to be told by Besmirch that his personality was different enough that he's essentially a new person. Played with with Inky. He did die in the doll incident when Temmie and her doll attack him, as well as getting stabbed to death by Grinky. Being an ink, he came back after each. Then Gravestone killed him off for good after one too many betrayals. And now he's back with his own blog. Inky and Grephil resurrected Asriel with ink necromancy. It's not actually Asriel, though.

Ensemble Dark Horse: Inks, surprisingly, so much that the DM brought them back in different shades so that people could create their own. A few even came back as the red besmirched courtesy of Besmirch's mun, and there's a potion Inky now sells that allows people that never had an ink during Gravestone to make one. The rest of the gravestone inks now have the option of coming back as green ink thanks to Inky.

Hallucinations: Some of the Hedge members that were voodoo dolls had hallucinations. The Refugees started experiencing interesting hallucinations as time wound down and they became ill.

Meaningful Rename: Most of those joining Gravestone renamed themselves to fit their new personalities. Arbiter became Besmirch; Asriel, Despair; Corrupted, Xeno; Happy, Hysteria; Muffet, Disavow; Potted, Iracundia; and Satan, Lucifer.

Jerkass: The gravestone inks, though Hysteria was a lesser example than the others. Besmirch himself gets a special mention. He's by far the most jerkass of all the gravestone inks. This probably had to do he'd been a an ink for the longest amount of time, aside from maybe Inky.

comment
The Assimilator: The initial goal of the inks, and how they get new members. Not only did they want to convert as many as they could, but how they initiate new members was by infecting them with ink, which then then takes over their body. How quickly and painfully the infection takes place depends on the person's willingness to join. Those wanting to join feel no pain and are turned to ink almost instantly. Those who aren't willing aren't so lucky.
