A live-action Saturday morning children's show on CBS, created by Filmation in 1978, Jason of Star Command harkened back to the 1930s Flash Gordon movie serials, appearing in its first season in 15-minute installments coupled with a cartoon short, and in its second season as self-contained half-hour stories.Each episode featured Jason (Craig Littler) battling the evil Emperor Dragos (Sid Haig), as the latter tried to destroy Star Command, a base hidden in an asteroid that publicly housed the Space Academy from the previous series. While the show was never very good, it did have some impressive budget model work and even some Stop Motion Animation. | |

But, with the exception of Peepo the robot, we don't hear a peep (no pun intended) from him or any of the other characters from that series. note The real reason for this is that Harris was originally intended to reprise his "Commander Gampu" role for Star Command, but left the show after a dispute with producer Lou Scheimer. | |

What, Exactly, Is His Job?: The opening narration describes Jason as an "Intergalactic soldier of fortune". But this doesn't seem right given that he is a Badass Pacifist Guile Hero who Doesn't Like Guns and regularly risks his life for others. Also, he doesn't seem to be in it for the money. If he was, why not just work for guys like Dragos? When the newly arrived stricter, by the book Commander Stone attempted to dress down Jason on what he perceived as lack of discipline, Jason response was to casually remind the Commander that he wasn't exactly under Star Command's jurisdiction. We never actually learn whose jurisdiction Jason is under, of if he is a free agent, how or why he has so much clout. | |

Even the much stricter, by the book Commander Stone didn't bother to reign in Jason after their first conversation in which Jason gives the friendly reminder that he isn't technically under the jurisdiction of Star Command. This raises the question as to who Jason actually answers to. And then there is the title of the show. | |
