Metroid Planets is a Fan Remake of the 1986 Nintendo Entertainment System game Metroid created by vacantshade. It updates Samus' movement and adds a saving system, among other features. The game is called Metroid Planets because of its multiple maps. Planet Zebeth is a remake of the original Metroid. Planet Novus is a whole new map with new bosses and new areas. Selecting Planet Enigma will bring you to a room creator and a map generator that uses those rooms to create a world. (If you go to the Discord linked in the game menu, you can download a room pack and upload your own rooms.) The game also has online multiplayer. You can find it here.

Ascended Glitch: The original game contains a bug where Samus can jump in mid-air after unmorphing from her Morph Ball form. It was recoded into Planets as an intentional feature, though it doesn't work if Samus unmorphs after jumping in Morph Ball form via the Spring Ball.

Optional Boss: The original versions of Kraid and Ridley in Novus are only guarding the Varia Suit and Screw Attack respectively, neither of which are items required to beat the game. Depending on the Engima world, this trope has a chance to apply to every boss except for Mother Brain.

Call-Forward: The Novus map features Ridley, Kraid, and Mother Brain battles straight out of Super Metroid. The remade Kraid's Lair theme and Brinstar's theme in Zebeth are demakes of their versions from Metroid: Zero Mission, and Norfair's theme in Zebeth is based on it's remix from Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
