Sakura Dungeon is an adult-rated first-person dungeon crawling RPG video game/visual novel developed and published by Winged Cloud, which is known for for creating the Sakura visual novel series like Sakura Spirit, Sakura Angels, and Sakura Fantasy. The game is set in a fantasy world where monsters and humans have been at war with one another for generations. However, a new battle is brewing…In this story, players assume the role of an ancient fox spirit named Yomi, who awakens after several hundred years of deep sleep to find that possession of her lovingly-made dungeon has been taken from her! As if that wasn't enough cause for alarm, she has also been robbed of her power, leaving her weak and vulnerable. She soon discovers that it was a heroic knight named Ceri who woke her from her slumber, and after a brief fight and "negotiation," the knight decides to join her on an adventure to reclaim the dungeon!Together, they will unearth great treasures, reveal secrets and hidden rooms, and recruit monster girls to fight by their side through the 'capture' mechanic, wherein the player will be able to capture monster girls they encounter and add them to their party…all while avoiding traps, fighting off dangerous enemies and bosses across multiple floors, and uncovering the devious plans of the new dungeon lord. And if you're playing the uncensored version, they'll be having sex in the meantime. Lots and lots of Yuri sex.In addition to dungeon exploring, Sakura Dungeon is also packed with extensive dialogue and plenty of gorgeous backdrops and cutscene artwork for the player to unlock as they carefully navigate their way through the dungeon. The game itself also comes in two versions, a censored one which cuts out the explicit content and uses various techniques to make the rest a bit more tame, and an uncensored version which shows everything completely.WARNING: The uncensored version of this game contains adult themes like full nudity and lesbian sex.

Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Pretty much everyone inside the dungeon believes in the pecking order that "the strongest gets to rule", and the current Dungeon Lord rules with an iron fist over her subjects. Anachronism Stew: The setting is Medieval Fantasy, but there's a number of elements that are quite clearly of more modern origin: Some of the unlockable outfits seem fit for a modern setting, especially the school swimsuit. And then with Maeve's mud massage, one of the Mud Girls possesses a thaumic device, which wouldn't look out of place in a modern setting judging by its appearance. The Queen Bee quite obviously has goggles. One cutscene with Charlotte, the shopkeeper, features what we would identify as a camera (with flash and instant photo features), which she bought off of an inventor who decided it was useless. Yomi quickly uses this to her advantage and claims to Ceri that it's an "energy transferer", and that it requires "a certain type of clothes" for it to work at its best. The Sand Sentinel has sunglasses for some reason. Post-game, thanks to a Broom Witch messing with the observatory device, which was sending messages to the stars, she called in a spaceship, and its crew, who seem to be fox spirit-like crewwomen, begin to launch what is obviously an Alien Invasion. There's a Playboy Bunny outfit which, according to Yomi, came "from a very interesting country". The second dungeon is based on Yomi's homeland's traditional architecture (i.e., Japanese wood and paper). Yomi states at one point that boxing used to be a popular sport.

She Is All Grown Up: Sylvi, from Yomi's perspective. Last time the fox spirit saw the young dark elf, she barely came up to her knee, and since elves are long-lived, she's grown up to become a fine (and very stacked) young woman by the time they meet each other again. Vesta, the new dungeon lord, was an adolescent when Yomi saw her last.

Aside from her constant anger at her monsters if things don't go her way, she also doesn't even supply her monsters with spare clothes should they get torn in battle (and they often do), she treats them all like pawns, and forces others into her service. Even worse, the Dual Boss you fought just before entering the abyss end up banished and separated because of their failure. Crazy-Prepared: Yomi's prison cells are given proper countermeasures against, as quoted by Yomi, "thaumaturgic magic, divine interventions (read: prayers to gods), earthquakes, fires…". It's even prepared for the likes of Slimes, who would logically normally be able to ooze their way between the bars. However, she didn't seem to take into account a Wand Witch's broom going off on its own. Or of Abyssal portals, which the Succubus creates to access her storage room. Yomi reminds herself to rectify that problem, and hopes that Anubis doesn't investigate. The new dungeon lord is allegedly this according to the Ryuuou, one of her subordinates, who says that she rules with an iron first and has meticulously planned for every possible outcome. Every dungeon lord indeed may be this out of necessity to be able to 'hire' so many monsters, since they're all so different, thus requiring her to know each kind.

Gameplay and Story Segregation: In your first encounters against the Warrior or the Fox Knight, they challenge Ceri to a one-on-one. You still engage them with your entire party, though, and even if you intended to honor that conversation, they will sometimes attack your allies just like any other monster. Even after defeating Vesta, which results in the Abyssal dimension collapsing after that, you can still visit the place as early as after the credits.

She seems to have taken this from Maeve, her Guild Master and Mentor, who—as soon as she was able—faced off against Yomi (you), and tried to continue fighting after you defeat her, even when Yomi can see she's down to her knees in the mud, exhausted. It took Ceri explaining the whole story for her to stop fighting. In a later conversation, Ceri explains she wishes to be like Maeve; strong, not only in swordplay, but in spirit, and that Yomi defeating her only motivated her to keep on getting stronger.

Aristocrats Are Evil: Ceri has had terrible experiences with these back at the guild, and notes that nobles do a lot of scheming behind each other's backs like assassination, bribery, corruption, and adultery. And it gets worse when heroes are involved, where they're hired like mercenaries either on the assassination side or the protection side. Overall, she sees them as manipulative, spiteful, backstabbing, immature, arrogant, and completely irredeemable idiots… who hold all of the power in the human cities. Yomi agrees, noting that Queen Isis's own royal court schemed against her every day.

Epic Fail: In an attempt to teach Ceri archery, Yomi takes her to the archery range to learn from the Fox Archer. By the time Yomi returns to check on them, it turns out that not only does Ceri have terrible aim (or is terribly cursed), her arrows always ricochet and somehow almost always hit the Fox Archer, whose clothes were left in tatters. Not even using blunt arrows helped, and Ceri's strength was so great the arrows hurt. The two then decided it was best she never holds a bow again.

Cool and Unusual Punishment: Unlike most monsters, the Cat Witch wasn't as willing to join Yomi at the drop of a hat, so Yomi resorts to tying her hands and legs with ropes and suspending her. Not only that, she also gags the Cat Witch with a popsicle and later uses it as a bribe, threatening to tie her up again deprived of popsicles should she again suggest the new dungeon lord will defeat Yomi and liberate her. Yomi's response to her assassination attempt, after imprisoning the Assassin in question (who was sent by the new dungeon lord), is to "introduce" her to some carrion slime, which is implied not to be human-like like the Slime or Mud Girl you presumably have by this point. By the time Yomi returns, the Slime has been defeated, but the Assassin's clothes were in tatters.

Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Ceri and Sylvi, due to species issues, the latter only tolerating the former out of loyalty to Yomi, and the former has had experience with other adventurers to not simply turn down any ally she gets (especially since by then you will have recruited quite a few monsters). Maeve to Yomi, but only one-sided on the former's part due to discrimination against monsters and the fact that Ceri, one of her members, was magically bound to her. The Gods Must Be Lazy: Anubis, guardian of the underworld, whose duty is to enforce balance between the abyss and the world, and won't interfere with the affairs of mortals unless it disturbs her own activities. She also never lies, being a divine being and all. She also doesn't interfere with those who make deals with denizens of the abyss, unless they're strong enough to stave off the Abyssal Reapers who would otherwise come for them. This makes the new dungeon lord all the more dangerous if she has such Reapers under her command. Of course, this can be subverted if you bring her along (after defeating her first).

Outside of cutscenes that are specifically about the subject, nobody ever comments on the different outfits Yomi and Ceri wear, nor about their breasts and private parts being out in the open if their clothes get torn.

I Fight for the Strongest Side!: Many of the captured monsters exhibit this mentality when Yomi comes to negotiate with them. The same goes for the demons of the abyss, which means that beating them is the only way to get them on your side. They are also very spiteful creatures, and more than eager to retaliate on those who've wronged them, which the new dungeon lord seems to have done. This also applies to the Succubus when you finally beat her in the abyss. Ceri sees it as cowardly, even as she thinks of wanting to test out the integrity of Yomi's dungeon cells.

Famed In-Story: Maeve is regarded as one of the greatest heroines in the human cities, which she achieved the same way many heroes in other fantasy stories do, according to Ceri: starting out as "a peasant rising through the ranks, soon beating massive creatures, saving villages, preventing the destruction of entire kingdoms…". However, she notes that it's hard to tell what's fact and what isn't.

Old Friend: Anubis to Yomi, though it was far less platonic than most examples. They even sparred in the past, and Yomi often lost. You can even have a rematch (but you need Yomi in the party to even do so, even placed in the backrow is fine if you don't prefer to have her in your usual party at all), and she will join you if you beat her.

Determinator: The Boar believes any problems can be solved by ramming into them. She's also pretty thick-headed, both in the literal and personality sense, hardworking, and fears nearly nothing. Ceri herself. She thinks she couldn't be any good as an adventurer if she were to give up easily, which was why she continued to attack Yomi, even after they both knew full well she wasn't going to win. Yomi was quick to warn her that it would've resulted in Ceri's death had she faced a less benevolent monster in Yomi's place.

Yomi's prison cells are given proper countermeasures against, as quoted by Yomi, "thaumaturgic magic, divine interventions (read: prayers to gods), earthquakes, fires…".

Alien Invasion: The reason why the extraterrestrials, led by Commander Hiriko, invaded is because things are chaotic back home, causing the ship's crew to leave in search of a new home, and they happened to find this world ideal; full of energy, primitive inhabitants, and natural resources, not to mention an identical atmosphere. Naturally, Yomi's party successfully thwarts them, but then offers them to stay in her lands, stating that invasion isn't necessary. Hiriko is surprised, yet concedes to their terms, and even offers to uplift their civilization, but Yomi and Ceri refuse the proposal, arguing that their civilization should get to that level on their own. Hiriko then warns them that even if she surrendered, there'll still be resistance among the soldiers, explaining why there are still Random Encounters in her ship even after that.

Video Game Cruelty Potential: Finding the Melting Tonic for the first time gives the player a choice: either have Yomi explain what it does to Ceri, or have Yomi actually use it on Ceri, destroying her clothes and stripping her down in front of the party, to her immense embarrassment. Given that you normally have to pay a whopping 300 mana shards for the privilege of getting one of those tonics, it's not the kind of cruelty you can indulge into very often.

Suicidal Overconfidence: It is revealed during conversation that Ceri had this attitude when it came to this dungeon prior to meeting Yomi, because she was an experienced adventurer before then. This explains why she attacked the ancient fox spirit even as she acted so nonchalant and confused about the situation. However, upon being first soundly defeated by Yomi, instead of trying to stubbornly continue on, Ceri was ready to face death with dignity. (Un)fortunately, Yomi had other plans.
