Super Robot Wars T (pronounced, and writable, as Super Robot Wars Terra) is an installment of the Super Robot Wars franchise succeeding Super Robot Wars X simultaneously released for the Sony Play Station 4 and Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2019. The progress of mankind came to a halt, and the spirits of people were filled with despair. In the midst of this stagnation, a group known as VTX Union made its name and tried to survive the harsh age, while hoping to ensure that mankind can resume its advance. This is where our story began, from the point of view of two particular Salaryman of the VTX Union with differing personalities: The by-the-book professional Saizo Tokitou, and the carefree, easygoing Sagiri Sakurai... along with the company's newest product, the mecha Tyranado, and according to the New Meat Rami Amasaki, there's more than meets the eye about this product...An Expansion Pack for it was released on June 27, 2019, detailing a few months after the Daybreak War, and finally bringing Earth back into its Golden Age, a new threat dubbed Atrum looms over the horizon, and features a team-up with the protagonists of V and X to deal with the new threat.T brings the Getter Robo and Nadesico series back after their absence from X, as well as G Gundam post-Super Robot Wars OE (its last console appearance was Super Robot Wars NEO), and includes the first voiced and console appearance of Gun X Sword since its first appearance in Super Robot Wars K. T marks the first franchise installment to feature two entries of the Brave Series in one game, a Magical Girl/Shōjo series for a traditional Super Robot Warsnote The first Magical Girl/Cute Witch to appear in the franchise is Little Witch Academia in Super Robot Wars X-Ω, and a technical debut of a series that used to debut in Super Robot Wars X-Ωnote Mazinger Z: Infinity was not grouped as 'new series' during the reveal trailer since it was a One-Time Event Unit in Super Robot Wars X-Ω, but the game is actually its debut in traditional Super Robot Wars games. The next series given this treatment is Zegapain in Super Robot Wars DDTrailer 1 is available in English, as is Trailer 2; a special developer message to fans is also up.

Cherry Tapping: Harlock joins the "humans killing giant robots in a dynamic kill" group with the Arcadia's final attack where he steps out of the ship and points his sword at the enemy and fires a laser. This is based on scenes from the anime when the Arcadia's tube anchors are launched to board enemy ships and Harlock fights off the intercepting crewmen. You can defeat the Final Boss with a mere Jegan. Using nothing but the Vulcan Cannons.

Motion-Capture Mecha: The Gundam fighters of course as well as Pricilla's Brownie and Van's Dann of Thursday utilze this function. In fact, it's implied that the system used by the Gundam Fighters in fact came from studying ancient Armors. The Rune Gods, by the loosest definition of mecha, also count.

Canon Foreigner: Shin Mazinger may be absent, but this won't stop developer B.B. Studio from reaching beyond canon to expand on a Dynamic Productions series with the Shin Getter Dragon, whose only appearance was in Getter Robo Daikessen!, a Play Station video game. In another instance of Super Robot Wars resurrecting a design left on the cutting room floornote Like the Layzner Mk-II and Great Zeorymer in Super Robot Wars Judgment, T includes the Bellvine, an Aura Battler intended for Shion from New Story of Aura Battler Dunbine. The in-story reason is that while the Billbine was just a high specs Aura Battler that Queen Ciela Lapana had gifted to Show, the Bellvine was built specifically for him but had been left behind when everyone was transported to Upper Earth where for 700 years it sleeps as the Holy Maiden's Treasure.

Darker and Edgier: Played With. When compared to its predecessor, T is definitely more serious and less lighthearted, as much more serious things happened. However, compared to its further predecessor, it IS a bit lighter, making T the middle road of the Sliding Scale of Silliness vs. Seriousness of the International Era games.

Awesome Moments: Integrated into gameplay In-Universe: Amies and Meryl record all of T3's battles for later analysis. Particularly awesome moments either provide them with valuable data that they turn into a bonus supply of TacP, or Amies knows the right people to sell the footage to for extra cash. The concept also comes up as an important story element: Domon's final showdown with Master Asia is so awesome that the sheer excitement it generates in everyone who sees it is enough to help lift humanity out of the depressed mindset of the Twilight Age, which was Master Asia's goal all along.

Always Someone Better: How Shion feels about Show and why he's always frustrated with him. He gets over it after finding out that he's the Reincarnation of Show yet Show tells him that he's his own person. One of the minor recurring jokes of the series is how small the Takeo General Company is when compared to Senpuuji Concern or even the VTX Union, to either Watta's annoyance or frustration, especially during the "Today is Bonus Day!" DLC, where he became desperate to collect all the bounties from a group of criminals all on his own so that he could afford to give the rest of the company workers bonuses because the other companies could afford to give bigger bonuses for theirs. Watta gets over it or goes along with the joke outside the DLC.

Incurable Cough of Death: Notably, Coach Ohta has a special sprite showing the aftermath of him coughing blood and his glasses coming off as a sign of his space radiation sickness. Both of them don't let it get to them and continue to support/fight for the T3 as best as they could.

Order Versus Chaos: This is the theme of two early-to-mid game route splits, with the more Chaotic heroes traveling with the Arcadia instead of sticking around the Lawful types headed by the Ra Cailum and Nadesico. Underestimating Badassery: As the Magic Knights explore the Forest of Silence alongside Tetsuya and Guy, they were ambushed by Caldina and Ascot, who promptly spawn golems to attack them. The two quickly dismisses Tetsuya and Guy, believing that normal people from another world that are not magic knights won't be able to harm the golems, but were shocked that the two had swiftly destroyed all the golems off-screen. Justified as one had been raised since he was a child to be a soldier and pilot of a Super Robot, and the other is a combat cyborg with superhuman abilities.

The Cameo: Soji and Chitose piloting either the the GranVang or VangNex depending on who is chosen as the lead during the cutscene and two Nine's who are the sub pilots of both machines, Velt in the Huckebein, and Lotte in the Grungust appear in one secret stage fighting against the Gardim while Amari, Iori, and Hopes in the Xelguard and Masaki and the Cybuster appear in another secret stage fighting against the order's golems. They have no bearing to the storyline of T and looked more like an Easter Egg to maybe promote their games... Or so we thought, for these two secret stages set up their appearances as main characters in the Expansion Pack DLC. Even though Cross Ange didn't make it into this game, the nameless thug from the final episode makes an appearance in Scenario 2 as a wanted criminal, since he was credited as a generic NPC rather than a Cross Ange character back in V. Also even more fittingly considering the situation in Cross Ange, in this game he's given the name Schown D. Rell, just like the majority of 'humans' in that anime (while he's listed as 'Civilian', Faye said his name out loud).

End of an Age: A major theme is that Earth, Jupiter, and Mars are in the "Twilight Age." Multiple disasters from all the series have resulted in a lawless time full of bandits and corrupt government, with society stagnating. Technology had not only stagnated but also regressed. Spike's Swordfish II is suspected by Meryl to be from the pre-Twilight Age and, despite being a 20-80 year old customized civilian aircraft, is comparable to current state of the art military technology.

Anachronism Stew: Like V and X, T combines roughly fifty In-Universe years of the Universal Century Gundam timeline. The One-Year War occurs in NUE 189, the Gryps and Cosmo Babylonia Wars occur in NUE 198, the Neo Zeon and Jupiter Wars happen immediately after the Gryps War ends in NUE 199, and a ceasefire is reached with Neo Zeon in February NUE 200 following the conclusion of the Jupiter War, which is where the game picks up at. The game itself is mostly focused on the second half of Gundam ZZ, except with Jupiter Empire remnants hanging around and elements from Char's Counterattack eventually being blended in.

Mythology Gag
Super Robot Wars T (Video Game) / int_26ac510e

Mythology Gag: During a route split, when the T3 ends up transported to Cephiro, Saburota points out the possibility that they're Trapped in Another World kind of like in anime-ish stories, to which Judau reminds him that "This isn't anime, you know.", basically name-dropping his own series' first Anime Theme Song, "Anime Ja Nai". In a similar vein to this, during the final arc of Magic Knight Rayearth, when accepting Nova back and confronting Debonair, Hikaru thought and declared her resolve about "embracing light and darkness", also referring to the show's third Anime Theme Song, "Hikari To Kage O Dakishimeta Mama", also available in-game with the Premium Anime Sound edition. Following in the steps of Armageddon's Shin Dragon, Shin Getter Dragon's Shine Spark directly references the animation for Super Robot Wars Z Getter Dragon's version of the same move, which in turn was Banpresto's faithful recreation of the move as seen in Getter Robo G's anime. When fighting against Master Asia, Nero might refer to him as his real name from Fight 7th manga, Shuji Kurosu. Two of Domon's new quotes for the Hyper Mode activation during the God Finger and Sekiha Tenkyoken's attack animations directly quote the names of the theme songs famously used for the Shining and God Gundam's finishing move sequences in the anime. After being encouraged Beltorchika to fight and get out of his Heroic BSoD, Amuro utters the line back from the original Mobile Suit Gundam after he was slapped by Bright twice and then Frau Bow offered to take his place in piloting Gundam because he's 'someone who cannot take credits for his actions': "It's tough, but... I guess I AM a man after all." Show Zama's final attack in the Bellvine is a giant callback to the climax of Dunbine. From absorbing the multi-coloured auras of his allies, to quoting his own final words to Bern during the attack, to a cut-in of him striking with his own sword (how he killed Bern after their Aura Machines were both destroyed) and story-wise in T he first uses it to purify an opponent's Aura to prevent them from going "Hyper". Zagato's invasion to Earth and succeeding in at least bringing Emeraude's castle into Antarctica may also give similar vibes to Rayearth OVA, where Cephiro was merged into Earth and is seen as an invasion force, both of them also under the reasoning that their world was crumbling and they're looking for another world to settle. Although Zagato wasn't the perpretrator in the OVA, it was instead done by Eagle who was given an Adaptational Villainy there. Another element harkening back to the OVA can be seen in the Expansion Pack, whereas Clef whisked away everyone from Cephiro into a pocket dimension so they're safe from Debonair who this time was backed up with Atrum; he did the same to the people of Earth in the OVA. Kamille getting a private message from Char to help him build a new era for mankind is a nod to the original draft of Char's Counterattack, where Kamille would be in the movie and a member of Char's Neo Zeon. When confronting the Final Boss, Master Asia might quote one of his hilariously awesome famous Badass Boast that he is the Undefeated of the East, West, South, North, Center, SUPER ASIA. In the DLC Beautiful Criminals, Jung Freud is pitted against Allenby Beardsley and the former dedicated her match to 'avenge' Argo Gullsky, because they're Russiansnote Soviet Union for Jung, but in this continuity, she would count as Russian after the dissolution of the Union and in the 13th Gundam Fight, Nobel Gundam debuted by defeating Bolt Gundam. As a result, unlike the other Gundam Fighters, Argo didn't cheer for Allenby, but his fellow friend from the same Mother Russia as well. One of the save-skits is Chum telling Show that she was the one who invented the Aura Slash. This is actually a meta-joke to Super Robot Wars itself as Aura Slash and Hyper Aura Slash never existed in the Aura Battler Dunbine anime. It was an attack created by the Super Robot Wars series. The idea for it though, came from an episode where Chum said "Hisatsu, Aura Giri!" as Show did a completely ordinary leaping-downward sword swing. Banpresto took this line and turned it into an actual attack. Jeril Kuchibi being made into Rabaan's subordinate is a nod to how his original right hand woman Bereena was an Expy of Jeril. If Umi dodges an attack, she'll say that the enemy fell to her taunt. This is actually a reference to how she played part in defeating the sole Golem in the original anime (in-game, the Golem is an Artifact Mook), taunting it for distraction while Hikaru pulls a white sheet over it and then smacks it to a pool of water, where it dissolves. The events of Mazinger Z: Infinity is modified that Tetsuya is conscious and unable to do much as he's forced to pilot Mazinger Infinity since his Great Mazinger is grafted into Infinity and everyone else tries to pull him out. This made the scenario rather similar to what happened in Super Robot Wars V, when Kouji got grafted into a rampaging Mazinger ZERO and was made to attack the Earth Fleet Tenku and everyone else tried to pull him out. Furthermore, the music playing during that scene was originally Mazinger ZERO's leitmotif in Super Robot Wars X. When Glemy Toto made his declaration of independence and leadership of Neo Zeon, Char Aznable, who was watching the broadcast, made a response to Nanai Miguel that while Glemy certainly had strategy and charisma, he lacked something vital... "Because he's a Spoiled Brat". This is exactly the same reference he stated towards Garma Zabi (whom Char tricked to die) during his funeral. Though some characters and events from Cowboy Bebop are Adapted Out, its main characters' participation in certain events from other anime and original stories created close recreations. Though Teddy Bomber doesn't show up, in spite of his fellow debuting character (Andy) in "Cowboy Funk" appearing in a DLC, an Original Generation named Schown D. Rell called Spike as the "No.1 Bounty Hunter You Don't Want to Get Captured By." Ed beginning a correspondence with Frontier Setter on Freedom Route's Scenario 17's Side Plan epilogue is a reference to "Jamming with Edward," with their friendship resembling that of when she contacted MPU/Emphu, a similar Ridiculously Human AI that the government wants to get rid of because of its hacking into their facilities. Spike expressed disgust at the clumps formed from Zonder Metal, DG Cells, and Invaders on Scenario 23. The amorphous mass depicting it resembles the Blob Monster from "Toys in the Attic." They used Ein to infiltrate into DEVA, just as they did with SCRATCH. Both groups promote Brain Uploading to their networks and have religious motifs. In a DLC, the Red Dragon under Vicious targeted Hoi Kow Lou, reformed former leader of the Asian Mafia, just like the two syndicate bosses in "Ballad of Fallen Angels." Thankfully, he survived unlike the others. One of Hi-Nu Gundam's attacks ends in a karate chop. In the manga version of Beltorchika's Children, the Hi-Nu hits a karate chop onto the Nightingale's head, damaging it and exposing the cockpit capsule inside it. In the Expansion pack, when presented with the Alternate Universe possibilities, Benkei remarks that maybe in one certain universe, the Ryouma there is a nice and friendly sports player, which describes Ryouma's incarnation in the Lighter and Softer Getter Robo 70's anime that has constantly appeared in the Super Robot Wars franchise up until the first Super Robot Wars Z

Bag of Spilling: Domon and the other G Gundam characters have lost the ability to use their more advanced techniques and abilities because of their emotional turmoil making it impossible to maintain a serene state of mind anymore, something that all of their most powerful moves rely on. Maito has sent Might Kaiser and Might Gunner off on another mission, leaving him with just Might Gaine's basic form until he reclaims them. The same goes for Mic and Goldymarg. Show and Marvel retain their Billbine and Dunbine upon joining, but just like in X, Todd has lost his Wryneck and has to use a mass produced Vierres instead until he inherits the Billbine.

The only presumable explanation on this was that with the silencing aura of the forest was disabled by the stronger aura from the people of Byston Well, which was why Caldina and Ascot can also use summons there as well.

Awesome, but Impractical: In the DLC mission Decade-Long Trio staring Amuro, Koji, and Ryoma, Mazinger Z's Scrander was disabled in a surprise attack. To deal with a flying Kikaiju, the trio decide to do it again "like the old times". First, Amuro would jump with his Gundam as high as possible and bombard the Kikaiju, then Musashi in Getter-3 would use Daisetsuzan Oroshi to launch Mazinger Z into the sky, where Koji would finish off the Kikaiju with a rocket punch. Afterwords, Ryoma would mention that the combination attack wasn't perfect without Hayato and Kai to provide covering fire, and then we get this convo from Hayato

Adapted Out
Super Robot Wars T (Video Game) / int_33d5b7f2
comment
Adapted Out: Despite Armageddon representing the Getter Robo franchise for the game, the exclusive characters in that installment (Go, Kei Kuruma and Gai) aren't included in T, leaving Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Benkei Kuruma to carry the torch with the Shin Getter Dragon from Daikessen!. Justified since the failed nuclear strike on Shin Dragon story element was omitted, therefore the second half of the Armageddon Original Video Animation couldn't happen, so Cohen and Stinger has to take over from the first half's end. Because of this, another staple of the Armageddon OVA, the Black Getter, is also omitted, and Hayato uses his younger appearance from the first three episodes throughout the game. Due to the modifications of the Magic Knight Rayearth plot, only the Autozam faction is present as the Cephiro invasion force. Chizeta and Fahren do not appear. Additionally, the only Autozam mecha is the FTO here; the GTO is nowhere in sight. Only the core cast of New Story of Aura Battler - (Shion, Silkie, Reml, Rabaan, and the Northern Sage) are present in T, with the original Dunbine cast and some of the Rayearth cast substituting for all the secondary characters such as Rabaan's subordinates and the anti-Black Knight resistance As with its previous appearances barring GC, none of the enemies from Tryder G7 appear. As such, Watta and the Takeo General Company mostly hang around and act as extra support for either the GGG or Brave Express Team, much like his Invincible series predecessor. While Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack is not a Post-Script Season, it still cuts down the roster into just Amuro, Bright, Char, Quess and Gyunei. Other characters, in particular Hathaway Noa and Chan Agi, do not appear.note Chan being Adapted Out makes sense since she was supposed to replace Beltorchika in the movie, but the novel, which is featured in the game, restored Beltorchika's place. However, Hathaway is present in both media, and he's still not in the game while Quess is. Since Hathaway is confirmed to exist in T's continuity (Bright mentions him by name if the Ra Cailum battles during its first map) despite his absence from the game, then he is by proxy Spared By Adaptation, since the death of Quess in both continuities is one of the catalysts of him becoming Mufti Navilles Erin and then dying. Due to the death of his voice actor long before this game's announcement, Captain Tashiro Tatsumi and the Excelion battleship are not present in this game.

Actor Allusion: During a training session, Akito mentions to Domon that the latter's voice chord is very familiar to him, as a reference to how Domon has the same voice actor with Akito's deceased best friend Gai Daigoji. Spike has several lines directed towards those who has the same voice as him like Gyunei or Hokushin. For Gyunei, Spike compliments his voice or points out how much they're together unlucky. Against Hokushin, though, Spike is disgusted that such an evil man is sounding like him. In one scenario, the Gundam pilots spar with the Gundam fighters, and Tobia was paired up with Sai Saici. They are both voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi. If pitted against a Zonder, Umi might mutter, "I'm not afraid... I'm not afraid against any Zonders!", in reference on her voice actress' most recurring role in GaoGaiGar as Hana who often mutters "I'm not afraid" as a Survival Mantra. Mr. Zone tends to have reference lines against Gundam pilots, especially Amuro Ray, and can even state that his Photon Battleship 'isn't just for show', since he shares the same voice actor as the White Devil himself. One of Michael Garret's quotes against Van is "Begone, Joker!" This has a double allusion, both to the series (Van was referred as such once) and to another role of Michael's voice actor; a certain Goro Akechi who squared off against someone codenamed Joker. Similarly, both of Saudade of Sunday's attack animations have direct references to the Strike Freedom, in allusion to Michael's voice actor's famous role as its pilot. In the prelude to Chapter 29, it is implied that Wendy got picked to take Yurika's place in the 'Nadesico What! And Why' show (and failed to replicate Yurika's energeticness). There's only one possible reason for Wendy to get picked for this: She has the same voice as Yurika.

In battle as well, their stats are further boosted with their exclusive skill Magic Knight, which scales with their Morale, so as they gain Morale, they get even better bonuses than the normal Morale bonuses.

While he will still be seen as an invader of Earth, at least it shows that he actually cared for the people living in Cephiro, as opposed to the original version where he looked like he didn't give a damn to its people, just focusing on Emeraude. And exclusively in the game, he also spared enough time to copy his Rune God for Lantis to use for the purpose of protecting Emeraude (for a good reason, since in the past, they waged war against Mycenae civilization in Cephiro's defense) before things went out of control.

Leaning on the Fourth Wall: In Scenario 1's post-battle dialogue, the protagonist walks in on Rami and tells her that she's "really taking [her] time putting [her] face on" when she's Behind the Black because the colors of her eyes and hair have changed. The protagonist in-universe may be talking about getting ready or applying makeup, but it is literal for the readers. The Ace Interview of Lantis ends with Rami thinking that he looks like a character from a shoujo manga. Magic Knight Rayearth is actually classified as a shoujo series.

Useless Useful Spell: Some of the Supporter commands are less than helpful, or are outclassed by other commands. Mokona is a particularly notable example for most of the game, providing 1 ExC for a single unit for the same cost as Lisa, who provides 3 ExC as well as a one-turn damage buff. It's not until the last five stages that Mokona upgrades into providing his smaller boost to all allies, giving him a proper niche.

Age-Gap Romance: Discussed; after Scenario 48, when Lantis asks about combat data on Nova, the VTX girls believe that he feels that protecting the Magic Knights is his duty. Kei on the other hand realises that the Magic Swordsman is romantically attracted to Hikaru. The office ladies find that somewhat disconcerting as even physically Lantis looks to be a good five or six years older than the 14-year-old Hikaru. Kei states that due to Cephirans hardly looking the age that they are, age really does become nothing more than a number for them and thus their culture learn to love without such stigmas.

In the second trailer, when Hayato is piloting it, the Shin Getter Dragon's hands turn into a drill and claw and two gigantic boosters appear on its back, mimicking Getter Liger.

Despite Armageddon representing the Getter Robo franchise for the game, the exclusive characters in that installment (Go, Kei Kuruma and Gai) aren't included in T, leaving Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Benkei Kuruma to carry the torch with the Shin Getter Dragon from Daikessen!.

Lost Technology
Super Robot Wars T (Video Game) / int_6114a875
comment
Lost Technology: The story treats many technologies from the Twilight Age as incomparable to that of the Golden Age. The explanation was that with mass recession, humanity became disinterested in space travel along with multiple back to back major wars that led to a regression of technology. Examples given are: Spike's Swordfish II, a beat-up customized civilian aircraft being comparable to modern state-of-the-art military machines. Captain Harlock's Arcadia, which the Earth Federation is so desperate to acquire that they're willing to falsely label Harlock as a pirate and pursue to the ends of the solar system. The events of Aura Battler Dunbine took place 700 years prior to the start of the game and was noted that like the series, Earth was completely helpless and could only watch on as both sides of Byston Well tried to kill one another, before they mysteriously vanished. It was discovered that Aura Battlers had also completely vanished from Byston Well and for 700 years, technology in Byston Well had stagnated. When Aura Battlers re-emerged, they were the exact same models from 700 years ago and are still more than a match for modern state-of-the-art mecha from Earth.

Gameplay and Story Segregation
Super Robot Wars T (Video Game) / int_6320eced
comment
Gameplay and Story Segregation: The whole plot started with VTX trying to sell the Tyranado to the Earth Federation Forces as its next mass production mobile weapon. However, as the story progresses, it becomes more and more clear what a ridiculously impractical design it is compared to Boring, but Practical weapons used by the EFF, like the Jegan: It's too difficult for the protagonist to pilot solo, while a mass production unit needed to be accessible to anyone. Most of its weapons have to be launched from the Carriax, meaning mass producing it would have to involve mass producing the Carriax as well. Also, it requires two pilots and a whole crew in the Carriax just to be used effectively, raising the cost of pilot training exponentially. None of these problems are addressed in the story. In fact, when Dyma mass produced the Tyranado as the Tyrando, he had to replace the pilot with A.I.s and launch the weapons from his fortress instead of Carriax. It's telling that so many alterations had to be made just for it to work as intended. As was common in previous games featuring Armored Trooper VOTOMS, the unnamed AT pilots all share the same recorded in-battle dialogue, which normally isn't a problem. However, T features a line where the pilot wonders if any non-Votoms unit is "a new Balarant weapon," a line which makes little-to-no sense if said pilot is from Balarant.

Super-Deformed: The cast of Magic Knight Rayearth and Gunbuster are capable of going this mode in free times like the save-skit gag, owing to Rayearth's tendency to slip into this mode at times due to being penned by CLAMP, and Gunbuster's post-episode skits involving Noriko learning science. And then there's a DLC mission involving both series somehow getting cursed to be stuck in that state, which provides a Deconstruction of the trope: When a golem attacked, both Noriko and Hikaru found themselves unable to control their mechas properly due to their new body size and thus in actual danger; Super-Deformed looked adorable and cute when the setting complied with the tone, otherwise it could be debilitating, deadly state. One of the save-skits harkens back to the GUN×SWORD omake extras, GUN×SWORD-san, featuring both Van and Wendy in this state, if a bit more blocky. During her confinement by the DEVA System, Angela gets turned into a blocky person thing, but it seemed to be styled to be a Super-Deformed style, since Angela has a '>_<' face.

Hot-Blooded: Notably for several reasons. This title unites characters in the 1990s having this specific trait in a standout manner, such as Domon Kasshu, Guy Shishioh and Noriko Takaya. To date, Domon has yet to interact with the others in any standard Super Robot Wars gamenote They only met in Super Robot Wars X-Ω, which does not have the typical interaction and game-play; the last time Guy and Noriko met was in Alpha 3. Additionally, if there is one trait Hikaru Shidou (also from the same decade) is well-known for, it's this trope. This is the first Super Robot Wars instalment to include two Brave Series entries in one game: Might Gaine and GaoGaiGar, the latter known for its Mecha action forefront. Both series' protagonists are voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama, largely deemed to be at the peak of this trait in his role as Guy. Adding to this, the El Dora V is purposefully based on both titular machines, whose pilots are just as passionate as Guy.

Let's Split Up, Gang!: Once again, route splits exist, but there are variations. The first split is the traditional Earth vs. Space split, where the Real Robot Gundams head to space and everyone else stays on Earth. The next two splits follow an Order Versus Chaos thematic: On the Chaos side, the Arcadia will have the Getter Team, Gundam Fighters, AT Pilots, Van's group, Crossbone Vanguard, Bebop Team, ex-DEVA Agents and Akito alone; whereas the Nadesico on the Order side will have the Londo Bell, Mazinger Team, Brave Robots, Takeo General Company, Aura Battlers, Magic Knights and Top Squadron. The penultimate split-up channels the thematic of V's final split and every split in X of "Gundam guest-starring another battleship and/or Real Robot series vs. everything else", where all the Real Robot Gundams and the Nadesico are stationed in space to witness Char's rise from the shadow, while everyone else stays on Earth due to extra firepower required to face off Dr. Hell. The last route split is an aversion. The T3 gets to choose a route split between siding with either Char or Haman or remaining neutral but none of them involve splitting their groups, they just affect the order of battles and who will temporarily help them before they backstab the T3 (or in case of remaining neutral, both Char and Haman immediately teams up to attack T3).

Adaptational Early Appearance: Both Eagle Vision and Geo Metro appear during the time frame of the first season as opposed to waiting until the second season. Inverted with the Flashing Sword combination: In the original series, it appeared as early as the climax of first season, being the attack used to kill Emeraude. In the game, the Magic Knights used Spiral Flash instead, which was originally used to kill Zagato. The Flashing Sword itself made its debut during the final battle against Debonair when originally that was the second time the Magic Knights used it. GUN×SWORD made a big deal about the development of Saudade of Sunday and a chunk of the early and middle section of the anime is dedicated to Michael proving himself and gaining the resolve to serve the Clawed Man and prove himself worthy to deploy with Saudade, only at the near end of the anime. In this game, Michael can already use the Saudade of Sunday during the time Van defeated Gadved.

All these traits remain in the game... though she also takes a more active role in battle by being Lantis' sub-pilot and loaded with useful support-based Spirit Commands, making their dynamic more similar to the Show-Chum and Shion-Silkie pairs.

Arc Words: "Willpower". Throughout the story, it's shown again and again that "willpower trumps all else" is not something exclusive to Cephiro only. Dr. Saotome was able to remain human even after he was infected by the Invaders, and Musashi was able to temporarily take control of Getter Ray itself, all because of their willpower. Master Asia came back from the dead when he was infected by DG cells post-mortem. However, he was able to absorb it into his body and control it at will, becoming stronger as a result. The Golden Goddess was interested in the members of T3, more specifically Harlock and Zone, because of their willpower.

But afterwards, the Axis got pushed away and we don't hear what happened to them again, whether there was a falling debris that killed them during the chaos or they survived and made a good word to surrender and not bothering the T3 again were not clarified.

Judau still gets hit with it when he first meets Amuro due to the latter being Achilles in His Tent at the time, but the pedestal's rebuilt when Amuro finally finds the strength to take the field and demonstrates the skills he's legendary for. Domon almost became one to Van when he attempted a suicide attack to save Rain from Devil Gundam. On seeing that, Van revealed that he looked up to Domon as an inspirational figure thanks to the miracle of saving Rain in the 13th Gundam Fight, a man who made miracles with The Power of Love. And Van used to think that if he was like Domon, even just a bit, he could've saved Elena. But seeing Domon concocting that kind of suicidal plan disappointed him and he resigned to just sit on the sidelines and watch him die. Thankfully, that was just Van's way to snap him out of his suicidal plan, and the rest of the T3 cheered for him en masse, enabling Domon to pull a similar miracle that saved Rain and preserved Van's respect on him.

Spell My Name with an S
Super Robot Wars T (Video Game) / int_89a17726
comment
Spell My Name With An S For ages, the generally accepted spelling among fans for トライダーG7 was "Trider G7", but the debut trailer in English uses "Tryder G7" instead, implying this spelling was approved by Sunrisenote The show did see a release in Italy, where the robot's name was spelled "Trider", leading to the tentatively accepted name, since they also called Mazinger Z as "Mazinga Z". The "Rune-God" used by Umi Ryuuzaki has been called "Seles", "Celes" and "Ceres" throughout the years, with some recent printings and publications using "Selece". The game ultimately uses the more recent "Selece". With Dunbine, alongside New Story of Aura Battle Dunbine, the translation team had the "fun" task of picking names for the cast when almost every character has 3-4 English variations to their names. Perhaps this time Bandai Namco won't change them through game updates as they did in X. In the English version of the second trailer, Jung's name is spelled the way it sounds as "Yung," which ruins the references to Real Life psychologists Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud. Thankfully, this is fixed in the final product, she's back to Jung. Leo Shishioh is rendered as 'Reo Shishioh'. Reading through the Character Encyclopedia might make you raise an eyebrow when they rendered Captain Harlock's voice actor as 'Maquio Inoue', which is also the spelling used by Kingdom Hearts III's Japanese version ending credits earlier in 2019. To be fair, the voice actor himself use that name as his Stage Name in his Twitter account as well. Zig-zagged with a particular attack of Shin Getter 1. On the attack select, it's written as 'Getter Laser'. But when the attack is actually executed, it's written as 'Getter Razor' and looks more accurate since it involves Shin Getter 1 elongating the razor spikes on its hand to slash the enemy than firing another laser than the signature Getter Beam. There's also a case of the original mecha "E-Phas" vs "Eephas", the former being what it is called on the map and the latter being what Rudi calls it in her attacks.

Revisiting the Roots
Super Robot Wars T (Video Game) / int_8eb3d48f
comment
Revisiting the Roots: Most of the series entries originate from before The 2000s, thereby giving the game more focus to earlier Humongous Mecha and Space Opera titles. Between the games released during the International Era, series producer Takenobu Terada stated the story in T involves only one Earth setting instead of having multiple Earths, something the Z saga popularized for the franchise, including V and X; this change is akin to older Super Robot Wars titles that didn't have a focus on Dimensional Travelling. Similar to the previous point, older Universal Century Gundam series took a back-seat in this era (and the Z saga) to give newer Gundam properties like Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Gundam: Reconguista in G the limelight. T has the classic Gundam trilogy of Zeta, Gundam ZZ and Char's Counterattack take center stage for the Universal Century-driven plot, the latter half of ZZ Gundam in particular getting much of the limelight. note For perspective, T is the second traditional Super Robot Wars installment since the debut of Gundam SEED in this franchise to exclusively use 20th-century Gundam titles, the first being NEO, where the God Gundam was the only Gundam unit in the game, included solely to keep the franchise's tradition of having at least one Gundam series. In addition, Elpeo Ple has to be unlocked instead of being given to the player automatically, something that SRW has not forced the player to do in a very long time. The Gespenst returns in a licensed-Super Robot Wars title: not only is it a "classic" unit, but was known for showing up in multiple continuities until Super Robot Wars: Original Generation was established. The switch to the original Mazinger Z Continuity via distant Sequel Infinity, after multiple Super Robot Wars installments of using the Shin Mazinger plot. Just like the SRW games that use the '70s Mazinger series, the Mazinger pilots can be swapped around at will. Despite the Getter Robo cast being modeled after the Armageddon OVA, elements of the classic '70s Getter Robo anime, one of the main staples of older SRW titles, are implemented within the plot. In particular, Musashi Tomoe is around for half of the game and his role was either being the glue that links the team together or 'the underappreciated pilot between the trio', and his death was similar to his original death in the '70s anime, a Heroic Sacrifice that got the rest of the heroes mourning, though refitted to be in context with the Armageddon plot. The villains of this game, the UND, harkens back to the style of the Inspectors/Guests in the Classic timeline: Humanoid aliens whose advantage was cutting edge technology, as opposed to otherwordly and terrifying Eldritch Abomination as seen in installments such as Super Robot Wars Alpha series, Super Robot Wars Z series, or Super Robot Wars X. The Final Boss, Dyma Goldwin, also follows suit with this, a mere human with a hi-tech advanced mecha.

Token Good Teammate: The Black Knight and the Northern Sage revived some dead Aura Battlers and had those who used to serve under Drake Luft to collaborate with Zagato. Yet, Todd Guiness clearly had reservations in unnecessary killings, as opposed to Allen Brady and Jeryl Kuchibi, who reveled in the chance to kill more people in their second life. As a result, he ended up defecting to the T3 the next time he appeared, and unlike his last outing, he's no longer a Secret Character.

Revenge: One of the main themes of T, as many protagonists from the included series have an explicit desire for vengeance. Van prioritizes against The Claw for killing his soon-to-be-wife over anything else; likewise, Van's rival Ray Lundgren, who's in an even worse scale of the hunt. Akito Tenkawa, after being tortured and turned into an Empty Shell pre-Prince of Darkness, and having his wife Yurika Misumaru put into stasis all by the Martian Successors, is looking for payback against them. Domon wanted vengeance against his brother Kyoji Kasshu for allegedly ruining his family while taking on the Devil Gundam with him. Due to G Gundam's being given a Post-Script Season, Domon has already gone through that phase, allowing him to be more mature and reasonable, and he now seeks to help Van through his phase. There are also those who were in a perfect position to demand blood for blood, yet refused to: Lantis, whose brother Zagato was killed by the Magic Knights, refused to take vengeance, but instead shift the blame to the core problems of the Pillar System. Judau temporarily entered this phase when he debuted, being pissed off at Neo Zeon for allegedly killing Ple and his sister Leina. He got better very early after an encounter with Arm Primeval and turns out that if he continued, it could've been for nothing: Ple actually lived and can be recruited if the conditions are fulfilled, and Leina is just hiding with the help of Londo Bell crews, coming out of the hiding spot in the ending.

Leeroy Jenkins: Discussed during GaoGaiGar's debut. Noriko Takaya stood to beckon the Zonders despite having no fighting experience, using just a weak mech and basically disobeying orders, buying enough time for Guy to make his entrance. When she came back, Guy praised her for being brave, but Coach Ohta reprimanded her to not let it get through her head, because she only looked brave because Guy was coming. If Guy didn't come, she would've been slaughtered and considered reckless instead. Played more dramatically in the climax of Getter Robo Armageddon plot. Ryoma is extremely blinded by vengeance against Saotome for being falsely accused that he charged straight to the Shin Getter Dragon, ignoring everything else, against his team's wishes, just for a shot against Saotome. It took a Heroic Sacrifice by Musashi to get him to calm down, since it also enabled him to see Saotome being Good All Along and secretly guiding the team to stand against the Invaders.

Tokyo Tower: Visited by T3, with its location being in Nouvelle Tokyo, although the name didn't change into 'Nouvelle Tokyo Tower'. Guy also mentioned that the Tower was once used by EI-01 as a hidden base during his past exploits. As expected, visiting the Tower initiates the Magic Knight Rayearth plot, though the situation is more somber since a Colony Drop just got initiated and prevented, but otherwise ruined the surrounding environment, making it unfitting for Hikaru to gush over looking at that via telescope. But at least she gets to meet Kouji in exchange and making her visit worth it.* Domon was not in the group there, so he didn't get to mention that one time he had to wreck the whole Tower to root out his Brainwashed and Crazy friends by the Devil Gundam.

Come in this game, however, once he avenged his father, he lost his purpose and only had his 'might is right' philosophy to back on, so he ended up on the UND side for another chance to fight Maito, lost, and then joined him for good.

The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Hikaru Shidou met Kouji Kabuto during her trip to Tokyo Tower and she's really pleased, acknowledging his history of piloting the Mazinger Z. So is Umi Ryuuzaki, except she prefers Great Mazinger, and requires a bit more close-association and less public place first before gushing. Pricilla became an Armor Fighter and made it her goal in life to challenge her idol in Gundam Fights, Allenby Beardsley in a match. The next thing she realizes, she's instead fighting side by side with the Gundam Fighter. Of course she's happy. Really, in general, a good portion of the cast fawns over their predecessors.

Foreshadowing: It may surprise you to see that for some reason, Zagato and Emeraude are familiar with the terms Mazin or Mycenae (less so in the Japanese version for the former; see Lost in Translation entry below). Way later near the end of the game, Dr. Hell revealed that the Mycenae civilization used to invade Cephiro, but was repelled by Emeraude, Zagato and the Rune Gods. In retaliation, they created Mazinger Infinity based on the Rune Gods, since they believed that it could destroy the order of nature, in a similar way that the Rune Gods are the only beings capable of killing the Pillar that provided order and stability in Cephiro. Way back in the beginning scenarios of the game, Spike and Faye followed a terrorist group in a world with only a yellow sky. They couldn't find their way out till Ruri and the Nadesico was able to get to them to bail them out. It's where the real Arcadia, Harlock's final destination, resides. Show and Shion has the exact same spirit commands and nearly identical stats, but Shion's Skill stat is a bit lower and he doesn't have Show's Break Morale Limit skill. This is because Shion is Show's reincarnation and had inherited his abilities, but as a new Battler, he lacks the experience and resolve of Show who had already gone through the events of Aura Battler Dunbine. When Master Asia first appeared and was fought as an enemy, when the name Dyma was mentioned, Master Asia scoffed at it, declaring that Dyma has no idea about what a Gundam Fight truly meant, while Dyma has so far presented himself as a heroic, supportive, encouraging man with his best interests directed at mankind. By the time Dyma showed his true colors as an egotistical man, suddenly Master Asia's warnings made sense. Near the end of the game, it's revealed that a small part of the Devil Gundam lived on inside Rain's body and continued to grow and evolve. This is almost exactly the same as how EI-01 implanted the New Machine Species into Mikoto, which eventually became the Zonuda. After Goldwin's Heroic Sacrifice, it's briefly mentioned in the intermission that he was born on Mars, meaning he too can initiate the Boson Jump.

Continuity Nod: The encyclopedia entry for Sueo Ushiyama mentions that the second Ushiyama brother, Tsuguo, "appears in other works" without naming names. The entry for Mokona mentions that it has a much more important role in the manga. The entry for the Musaka-class mentions that it also saw use during the Third Neo Zeon War. While the movie made subtle hints of throwing UFO Robo Grendizer into Canon Discontinuity, the game acknowledges its existence within the Mazinger history without any name-dropping. Including Amies wanting to interview Kouji's time in a certain ranch, Kouji himself reaffirming his promise to Duke Fleed to protect Earth in his absence (since he had to return to his home Planet Fleed to rebuild it in the epilogue), and Amuro and Ryoma threatening to expose his temporary romance to Maria Grace Fleed to Sayaka. When Elle complained about having to pilot a Jegan instead of her Gundam Mk-II, Astonaige told her that the Jegan is a machine that will go down in the history books centuries later.

Fusion Fic: Revisiting the Roots to focus on one Earth and universe, unlike V and X, forces more Commonality and Adaptation Origin Connection between the involved series. Rather than as a separate planet, Endless Illusion is now simply a part of Mars. However, it is later revealed that the whole Solar System is Endless Illusion, at least from the eyes of the natives of Astragius Galaxy, since the Clawed Man is actually from there and stumbled on the Solar System while searching for a world without war, and simply named it as such. Ruri notes that Dann of Thursday can Boson Jump by itself. Because the Original Seven were made by the same ancient civilization that invented the calculation unit. The first Zonder Human to pilot GaoGaiGar's Evil Knockoff is Professor Wolfgang. Tochiro created the Peacock Smasher. Black Noir turned out to be the legacy of the Black Planet, a civilization management system created as a countermeasure to the Zonders, until it gained sentience and delusions of godhood. After the finale of Aura Battler Dunbine, Byston Well has decayed so much that it merged with Cephiro to continue its existence, a status quo that lasted for 700 years. The story of Getter Robo Armageddon feels like combining aspects of the first half and the classic '70s anime. The most visible examples of this is Musashi sticking longer than in the OVA and dying in a Heroic Sacrifice that had the team grieving for him, and then replaced with Benkei in that same time. Meanwhile, they still fought the Invaders instead of the Dinosaur Empire, Ryoma was still falsely accused and thrown to jail whereas Prof. Saotome went rogue and aligned with the Invaders somewhat. Coach Ohta is no longer the only person that has a space radiation sickness. Tochiro also has the same sickness. Why do the people of the Astragius galaxy, including the inhabitants of DEVA, look exactly like humans? Because they are the descendants of the Frontier Setter project, a top secret interstellar exploration project that started during the Golden Age, which used untested technologies to transform its members into computer personalities. However, the leaders of the project made a deal with Wiseman, who erased their records and memories of Earth. The Mycenae civilization is a multi-dimension invading clan that also targetted Cephiro, but was thwarted by prayers of the Pillar of that time, Princess Emeraude, assisted with her high priest Zagato and the Rune Gods. In response, they analyzed the Rune Gods, realizing that they had the power to destroy the natural order, and based on the data, they created Mazinger Infinity. After they finished Infinity, however, they were preoccupied with invasion of other places until they targeted Earth and fell at the hands of Tetsuya Tsurugi, so they never got to use Infinity for its original purpose. Mad Pierrot is stated to be a Martian Successor genetic experiment.

Ascended Extra: Inova this time transforms into his wolf form and takes on the battlefield earlier than in the original anime and survives many encounters with the Magic Knights and the T3 as opposed to being defeated at his first fight. Due to the overhaul to Armageddon's plot, Musashi no longer is killed off in the prologue and sticks around far longer, even getting to pilot the Shin Getter-3 for a considerable amount of time before Benkei takes over. In the original show, Allen Brady was an unimpressive Battler who just served as a stand-in opponent for Show whilst Todd and Bern were temporarily absent and he is quickly killed off to demonstrate how much stronger Show and Todd have become with their Mid-Season Upgrade. But in T, Allen is given the vastly more powerful Leprechaun to pilot and is treated as a credible threat for a while and even joins the UND and is only slain at the last scenario. Dingo didn't sell Angela's first Arhan after its first fight and it lasts until the stage when it has to be replaced by the New Arhan.

If a pilot just attained an Ace status when the scenario ends in a sour or sad note (Example: the protagonist getting shot down and hospitalized just as Special Section 3 looked as if it's about to be dismantled, or the death of Princess Emeraude.), there won't be any Ace congratulations during that intermission, they'll get congratulated in the next scenario when the situation is lighter.

Cycle of Hatred: The Bern Burnings side of his soul overwhelms Rabaan and for much of the story, he saw himself as Bern, obsessed with continuing his past life's vendetta against Show. It took until just moments before his death to be freed from his past hatred and be himself again. He laments that he was not strong enough to learn from his past mistakes and yet, hopes to meet Show and Shion again in their next lives, this time, as friends.

Red Baron: Played With: Pretty much everyone in VTX Union have a nickname, but they're always insults, much to the owners chagrin. For winning the 13th Gundam Fight, Domon and the God Gundam got themselves the title "Gundam of Gundams" The Rune-Gods were usually called either by 'Rune God', or their names. In this game, even in the menu screens, their specific titles are always listed next to their names. Therefore, you would see: "Flame God Rayearth", "Sea God Selece" and "Sky God Windam".

Older and Wiser: With Mazinger Z: Infinity together with Getter Robo Armageddon and Char's Counterattack, this marks the first time Koji, Ryoma Nagare and Amuro, the stalwarts of the franchise since its inception, are depicted as the seniors for the younger generation. Two DLC scenarios even banks on their relationships in this. Domon has developed into a well-adjusted, mature adult after the 13th Gundam Fight and guides the vengeance-seeking members of the team because he's been there. For a while though, teasing him with his issue with Rain shows that he still can't properly deal with romantic issues. Kamille is there to guide Judau through the pain of losing loved ones after having gone through it himself. During the Earth route at Scenarios 35-36, we get to see Boss who's now more down-to-Earth and mature as opposed to his younger comedy relief bully self. The crowning moment of this trope is after Scenario 36, where Boss' support made the T3 offer him membership. Boss politely refused, stating that his battlefield is now running the Boss Ramen.

Trapped in Another World: During the second route split, this can end up being played straight or downplayed, when Rudi uses the Company weapon to send off the T3 somewhere: In the Independent Forces route, this is downplayed. Rudi's attack succeeded and the T3 along with the Arcadia is stranded in the Astragius Galaxy with the Cyberspace eyeing on it. It's not exactly another world, but they are still trapped in a different solar system that has no Earths in it. In the Security Forces route, this is played straight. Rudi's attack failed because the T3 ended up also hearing Princess Emeraude's distress call to the Magic Knights, so the T3 ends up being thrown to Cephiro along with the Magic Knights.

Lost in Translation: A lot of the Magic Knight's interactions with the Dunbine cast and talking about their titles makes more sense when you consider how "Aura Battler" was originally "Holy Knight." So Magic and Holy Knights. The significance of Rayearth characters calling the Mazingers as "Rune Gods" and Mazinger characters referring to Rune Gods as "demon gods" is lost to those who aren't aware that the Rune Gods are called "Mashin/Mazin (demon 魔, god 神)" in the original Japanese.

Demoted to Extra: Rain Mikamura is a support-only character as opposed to the previous titles where she could be deployed inside the Rising Gundam. Since she didn't pilot anything in the original movie as well, this can also apply to Sayaka Yumi, who in other games featuring a Mazinger entry could be deployed with either Aphrodite A or Venus A. And unlike Rain, Sayaka is not even a Support character, but she still have a good deal of presence in cutscenes and story. Boss is also reduced to Support Guest-Star Party Member rather than riding his Boss Borot and joining the team like usual, considering that he actually rode it in the movie (even if it's just for a strategic diversion), and only if you take the Earth route for Stage 36, otherwise you don't even meet him. The Illumidas, despite being the villains of Endless Orbit SSX, never actually appear in the game, with the DLC stage 'Wandering Strangers' giving the only mention that they even exist in this universe. Due to this, their role as "the alien forces that Mr. Zone joins up with" is given to the Company. Shogun Mifune and the Shadow Army are only represented by their mechas being Zonderized, and Kochou/Luna Naito already settling as Hamada's girlfriend and the UND did not bring him back, since he's the only major villain that was arrested at the end of the show, so he's basically still in jail or on the run from the Nouvelle Tokyo police with no resource to exploit. Hoi Kow Low and the Asian Mafia also shared a similar treatment, but at least Hoi and Chinja Rose still appear in one DLC where they're still running their restaurant business (and being afraid that Maito would pound them flat if they get back to crime business). Due to the changes to New Story of Aura Battler's plot, Reml Jilfreed is no longer a main heroine who assists Shion and instead spends most of T as Rabaan's Damsel in Distress. Vicious, the Big Bad of Cowboy Bebop, only appeared in one scene and then became The Unfought along with the rest of his Red Dragons. Judging with how Cowboy Bebop is already stretching the requirement entry of a series in SRW, this may be an inevitable result. Despite being part of the NSX crews, Zazu Torque only appears in cutscenes, not even being a part of the NSX Spirit Command list, nor is he part of the Support crews. In spite of Wendy's pet tortoise Kameo being present in her character sprites and mentioned in her Character Archives entrynote which may be unreliable sometimes as it leans more on the anime's canonical events instead of the game's, he isn't brought up in conversations unlike some of the other Team Pets like Ein and Mokona.

Likewise for Glemmy Toto, who got a more positive portrayal and being unlockable in the last game, and Yazan Gable and Rakan Dahrakan, both were at least playable in DLC scenarios in the last game but not this game, while the former was also a secret character in the game before the last one.

Comes Great Responsibility: The Magic Knights realized that despite not being in Cephiro, they still possess the power as Magic Knights. Hikaru urges Umi and Fuu to use it for good things anyway, stating that there has to be a good reason why they're given such power (though not exactly what they think it is). The two immediately agreed.

Original Generation: The protagonists of this game are members of the VTX Union - Saizou Tokitou, Sagiri Sakurai and Rami Amasaki. Players can choose between Saizou or Sagiri to be the primary protagonist, who will serve as the Manager of Special Section 3 and pilot of the Tyranado; the one not picked will be the ace of Special Section 1 and pilot of the Gespenst, who ends up working alongside the protagonist. Rami, meanwhile, is a support member for Special Section 3, serving as the Tyranado's sub-pilot. Lantis' Rune God is stated by the Encyclopedia as something exclusively created for the game, since originally Zagato never had a spare Rune God for his brother to use and Lantis always fights on foot (or sometimes riding a Hellish Horse).

Red Herring: For much of the story, the players are led to believe that the reason why Rudi and The Company she works for are so interested in recruiting Saizo/Sagiri is for the Quark Drive powering Tyranado. While the Quark Drive is a powerful power source, the UND's Antiproton Cycle is much more cost effective. What they're really after is humanity themselves due to their natural affinity using mecha, to use the entire race as galactic mercenaries.

Nerf: Averted in an interesting way. Unlike X's more direct attempts to nerf the TAC system, T doesn't meddle too much with the skill costs, and in fact takes out the Skill Tree requirement for unlocking pilot skills. The caveat is that many of the later secret stages now have a TAC Management Grade requirement, incuding the ending route split on the first playthrough which requires the maximum Grade of 6; achieving Grade 6 requires 12,900 TacP, which is close to half a playthrough's worth of points that will be going to the Grade system instead of being spent overloading your pilots' skills and stats. Played straight however with certain parts like the ExC Bank that restores a unit's ExC gauge back to V's 5 compared to X's 10 or outright removing the ExC Lasernote Whenever Ex C is increased by 1 count, it is increased by 1 more count. part in previous games. Going from the previous games with the more over the top Mazinger continuities, the Mazingers in this game felt more down to Earth and going back to basics, at least visually. This is subverted from a gameplay perspective where both Mazingers have powerful attacks and both have access to "Mazin Power"note Increases damage by 1.2x at 130 morale. rather than it being an ace bonus exclusive to Kouji (though it isn't available till halfway through the game).

Ryoma muses that the combination attack isn't complete without Hayato and Kai to provide further covering fire. Laser-Guided Amnesia: The appearances of V and X originals in the base game's secret stages and the Expansion Pack come with the cost of them being hit with partial amnesia due to dimension-hopping to T's universe. This is to make sure they don't confuse the heroes in T by recognizing the heroes from the series that were featured in their games as someone they're familiar with (the Getter Team, Akito and the Nadesico Crews (V), the Aura Battlers (X), the UC Gundam crews, the Brave Express Corps (both), and to an extent, the Mazinger team (both met another version of the Mazinger crews). This is lifted in the Expansion Pack's ending, and the first thing they discuss with T3 upon regaining their memories is indeed the recognition of said heroes as alternate universe incarnations of people they knew.
