Nightmare City is a series of two Flash animations created by Clairvoyance. In a nutshell, they feature cats (and one human girl) fighting to protect a virtual world from an Ax-Crazy blue cat who wants to trap them in the world forever. The animations are both music videos and feature no sound apart from the song and very little dialogue - most of the story is told through the visual. The first movie, Nightmare City, features The Hero (an orange, male cat) fighting against the blue cat while protecting his supposed girlfriend, a pink cat. The two of them conspire to leave the virtual world together, but the pink cat remains behind at the end of the video to confront the blue cat, while the orange cat promises to return soon. A hidden scene accessible through an Easter Egg in the Flash version shows a boy (who looks vaguely similar to the orange cat) waking up in some kind of machine, confirming that the city is a virtual reality. The song used is "Southern Cross" by Japanese band 403 Forbiddena.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_1'); })The second movie, Nightmare City: Catastrophe, picks up where the first movie left off. We see that the blue cat had survived the pink cat's attack on him at the end of the first video (or possibly was resurrected somehow), and has now recruited a team of minions. A small resistance group battles said minions, while the hero returns to face off and ultimately defeat the blue cat, though not without cost... The song used is "Northern Lights" by 403 Forbiddena.Advertisement:propertag.cmd.push(function() { proper_display('tvtropes_mobile_ad_2'); })This series provides examples of: | |
