Caddicarus (Web Video)	comment	Jim Lazarus Caddick, better known by the pen name "Caddicarus", is a British YouTube personality who hosts a Video Review Show that reviews just about anything video-game related you can think of, though he has a strong affinity towards video games from and related to the PlayStation era of gaming. While he originally uploaded in-depth reviews of single games on a usually weekly basis, he switched to his current format of longer videos covering several different games of a similar category in 2020, which are the videos he is best known for.These videos are filled with absurdist humor with dashes of influence from the likes of Monty Python and Mr. Show, flabbergasted reactions and eventful hunts trying to acquire some of the bizarre games needed for the episode, outside shots in creepy costumes that make you question why his neighbors haven't called the cops and, of course, a demonic kite with fingers and shoes who spontaneously appears to give out sponsorship information. All of this is the packaging of what are quick-paced reviews covering games ranging from commonly known to so obscure they only work on specific cell phone models from 2004.Historically, his channel had tons of random secondary shows and miscellaneous projects. The channel, at one point, offered six different shows. Caddicarus (the main reviews), Top 10 Lists (self-explanatory), Current Quickies (rapid-fire modern game reviews), Caddy's Retrospectives (Caddy's opinions on the first three games of a franchise), Tinker Time (whatever Caddy feels like reviewing at the time), and Drive Thru Review (quick, casual reviews under three minutes with very little editing). In 2013, he opened a second channel called Caddy's Conundrums (now Caddy Plays) where he uploads videos that wouldn't fit on his main channel. Drive Thru Review started on Caddy's Conundrums and has since been moved to the main channel, while Puppicarus started on the main channel and has since been moved to Caddy's Conundrums. In 2017, Caddicarus announced he would replace Current Quickies with a new show called Caddy. Similarly, in May 2017, his Film Fridays series (in hiatus for three months) became Cinemaggots.On February 10th 2016, Caddy announced that he would be heavily retooling his channel, removing most of the other side shows he does, with every Saturday (originally Sunday) being a standard Caddicarus episode or Top Ten and every Wednesday being a random video under the name "Caddy". This is being done out of Caddy's own belief that he had begun to suffer Attention Deficit Creator Disorder and lost focus on his channel. This would be followed by his retool to his current content in 2020, putting his full focus on the lengthy episodes of Caddicarus alone.He was also a charter member of the (now-defunct) Hidden Block collective of reviewers.note He was the last of the six members to stop featuring the Hidden Block intro bumpers in his videos.He also suffered from a major Schedule Slip for the first few months of 2021 due to technical difficulties with his new computer, though he has begun uploading regularly again in April. Similarly, he was unable to post any videos for the first few months of 2022 due to coming down with a major case of hives.In August 2022, Caddy finally surpassed the 1 million subscriber milestone, much to the exultation of his fans. Caddy made a promise ages ago that he would make a retrospective of the Spyro the Dragon trilogy as his one million subscriber special, which was initially promised as three videos covering each game in the trilogy. He finally settled on his usual opening in the Klonoa review. The Signing-Off Catchphrase didn't appear until Lilo and Stitch: Trouble in Phil Collins, and wasn't used in Totally Fanny. Finally, the "Subscribe" jingle was absent until My Top 10 Moments in Video Gaming I Couldn't Take Seriously! The first five episodes also have a different logo sequence than the one used for most of the series' run. His name was said in a silly voice instead of sung, and the logo smacked into the fourth wall and broke it, instead of fading in with a fireworks effect (second logo) or spinning into place after a "channel changing" effect of two or three images related to the review (third logo). In Season 1, the way Caddy slaughtered (and to a lesser extent, salvaged) was done somewhat differently in each episode, whereas by Season 2, both of them (and the newly added "slauvage") had established animations, that were used throughout, barring special moments, usually when the game was too bad/good to deserve a simple slaughter/salvage. Spons, a kite who presents each video's sponsor starting in The Pitiful World of Pixar Games, started off as a transition joke for the next game, did not have a name, and was originally speaking with a Voice of the Legion. In all subsequent apparitions, he speaks with a normal voice, introduces himself as Spons, and is only present during the video's sponsor.

The Simpsons Skateboarding and Spice World got several shots. Subverted a few times: Zoo Race didn't get shot because it was a computer program, so he just erased it; he accidentally shot something else besides LSD: Dream Emulator, setting off his fire alarm; The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure didn't get shot because he was out of bullets at the time; he doesn't get the opportunity to slaughter either the Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase game (he accidentally turned it into the movie) or movie (the music video "Shaggy and Scooby Doo Love to Eat" temporarily killed him), and he couldn't slaughter Cool Boarders 3 because several people aimed AK-47's at him, and he refused to end the video until the guns were lowered. He was midway through the writing of his first review of 2021, which was already plagued with a buttload of technical issues, when he lost all gameplay footage of it due to formatting a hard drive, forcing him to scrap the video entirely and leaving it as an unfinished episode. On top of all that, his girlfriend's other PC started to die, which he also had to pay for because her kids need a laptop for long-distance school due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. In the end, Caddy had a PC that didn't work, half a script, and a ten-thousand American dollar-sized hole in his finances, which contributed to an insane amount of stress.

But as the game progresses, he finds that the levels get less interesting and much more difficult to the point of unfairness. As a result, he gives it the slauvage. Played straight with Tarzan. While the overall review is somewhat mixed, pointing out a few good moments alongside some cheap difficulty and control issues, he settles on the slaughter after an extremely unfair boss battle that nearly insta-kills him. Discussed in his review of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. He loves the main casual playthrough for its story, visuals, controls, and level design and thinks it's a great entry in his favorite series, but he declares it a complete nightmare in terms of 100% completion due to the stack of challenges in each stage being numerous, often intensely difficult, and frequently ruined by controls and mechanics that weren't tight enough, and thus requiring several playthroughs of each level for rewards that don't nearly feel good enough. Compared to previous Crash games, he points out the much higher amount of tasks and that higher ranks of challenges are required for a reward than previous games. His ultimate conclusion is that a small percentage of the game and total playtime is excellence, but questions then if the full game price is really justified when the total playtime of the game is 95% nightmare with unfulfilling rewards.

During his Retrospective videos, anytime he tells us a "Fun Fact," he does so in a faux-Scouse accent, usually accompanied by an image of Crash Bandicoot and the Vib-Ribbon tutorial music. Caddy has a habit of starting his Retrospectives by rising up from the bottom of the screen and doing something completely random such as waving while Abe's "Hello." voice from Abe's Oddysee plays, having a coughing fit, bellowing "FIGHT!", growling "My god, its Metal Gear!" shouting "Brash Candicoot" and holding up the wrong game. During his review of Evil Dead: Hail to the King on the PS1: "(points out a game mechanic full on taken from the Resident Evil games)...almost like Resident Evil." Teasing a Spyro the Dragon Retrospective. "Jade... I think?" in the Bratz: Rock Angelz review. This also features a Call-Back to the Jaws Unleashed review Running Gag, replacing the words "SHAAAHKS" with "TWATZ". "THIS IS PS4!" in the Putty Squad review. He does frequent Title Drops in Blossom Blast Bastards, each time increasing the time between saying the last two words. Also, a clip of Caddy saying "That's how we do it in my garden!" pops up a few times. He says it again at the end of the Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly review, but in a more sinister manner. Whenever Caddy goes outside, he usually emits a different sound from Croc: Legend of the Gobbos while leaping out the door. As of the R/C Scrub Copter video, Caddy's obsession with Milk. Or as he pronounces it, "miluk". Bad PlayStation games often tend to have the Santa Claus Saves the Earth overworld music playing in the background. Some episodes have a couple seconds devoted to the random name Caddy gave his save file for the game, often accompanied with him saying "obviously". Ever since The last episode ever..., he uses the word "breats" to refer to absurdly large breasts. In some older episodes, he had a tendency to say this: Referring to Rilla Roo from Crash Bash as "Gorilla Monkey Anus Face." Picking the worst option in each category when Character Customization is involved. Starting from 2019 onwards, at the start of his first video of the year, expect an annual skit of him... being half naked while wandering and screeching around like a maniac.
