Jirard "Dragonrider" Khalil is The Completionist. Every week, he completes a game 100% and then reviews it, detailing the quality of the game overall and whether or not the payoff is worth the hours spent on completing it. Refreshingly, Jirard uses very little (if any) profanity* Except in the first few episodes, which use quite a lot of offensive content. Thankfully, a "remastered" version of the first episode (which was the worst offender) has been released, replacing some of the more tasteless/dated humor and censoring the remaining swearing-though his Doom review provided an uncensored F-bomb for the first in a while. in his reviews, making them reasonably family friendly, as well as informative and entertaining. He originally had an ongoing storyline in his reviews, but certain certain Real Life incidents and departures, those were junked entirely in favor of self-contained reviews with occasional skits.Unlike other reviewers, Jirard doesn't rate a game based on a Four-Point Scale or numberical/alphabetical grades. Instead, his ratings are as follows: Complete It! - The game is relatively easy and/or fun to complete, or the reward for getting 100% completion is worth the struggle. Finish It! - The game is still a lot of fun to play and finish whatever Story Mode is in the game, but getting all the collectibles and/or achievements is more trouble than it's worth. Play It! - The game is a lot of fun to play, but can get old with extended sessions or the late stages are far too annoying to deal with. Look At It! - The game is kind of boring or terrible to play, but interesting enough to check it out via a YouTube series or something similar. Donate It! - The game is horrible and should never be played by anyone sober. Originally titled "Burn It!"Originally, his reviews were divided into rigid sections: Story* An introduction to the game's plot and characters, Presentation* A look at the game's graphics and music, Gameplay* A look at the game's gameplay and controls, Final Level* Detailing the final level and boss in a spoiler-heavy but skippable section, The Struggle* A look at how hard the process of completing the game is, added in Season 2 and the Completion Bonus* A look at the bonus received for achieving 100% Completion, anything from a secret weapon, to a new game mode, before Jirard gives his final Completionist Rating. However, the show went under a massive retool after the Tales of Symphonia review in the October of 2016, getting an new interface as well as the new segments: The Legend* Information about the game and why he's playing it, and also what the game's reputation is in gamer culture: this also includes his gameplan for how to complete it based on what (occasionally little) he knows about it, The Quest* His experience with the game and his initial impressions of it, The Battle* Usually detailing his journey towards completion and focusing on several challenges in particular on his quest to complete the game, and The Reward* The details of completion bonuses, and also his review of the game itself: whether it's worth playing and whether it's worth completing; with only the rating system left from the original system-with each of the new segments merging and mixing previous aspects. While he still uses this format even today, the segment labels have changed to custom ones based on the title being reviewed.Aside from the main The Completionist series, Jirard has several side series and is a frequent contributor to other channels. The Completionist: New Game + - Jirard re-completes the first 120 games on his channel, offering up new perspective and analyzing any new content for the games that came out since the original video. The Completionist DLC - A look at any additional DLC for a game that Jirard has already made a video on. Unlike the main series, this one only has two ratings: Download It! or Skip It! Top Tens - Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Jirard lists his Top 10 Best or Worst of a specific topic, based on his own experiences. The Completionist Ranked - Jirard makes a tier list of various subjects (such as Pokémon starter trios) based on his own criteria. If You Liked, You Should Try - Jirard focuses on a popular game, then gives a variety of recommendations of other games, particularly lower profile or indie games, that offer up similar gameplay experiences. Super Beard Bros - A Let's Play channel where Jirard is joined by one of his head writers Alex Faciane. Originally, the main draw was Alex providing various trivia and knowledge on the game in question while Jirard played, but that was eventually dropped when people other than Jirard handled the playing. Early episodes often had Greg as a guest, but those videos were lost after the video purge. Eventually, producer Brett Bayonne joined the series officially. Scary Game Squad - A series headed by Jesse Cox over on his channel, with Jirard and Alex teaming up with him and Davis from The Warp Zone, which specializes in horror games. Big Bad Bosses - A pop group Jirard belongs to, along with Alex and Satchell "SatchBag" Drakes, with a rotating fourth member each album. Each group member cosplays as a video game villain (Jirard is Bowser) as they sing about the trials and tribulations of being a bad guy. Complete Chaos - Another band Jirard is a part of, this one does heavy metal covers of established video game songs. There are also a variety of shows and formats that Jirard has either paused or ended: The Mediocre-ist - Jirard and Greg switched roles, but since Greg is much less skilled than Jirard, his games don't get anywhere close to 100% completion. Retired completely after Greg left. Defend It! - A skit-based show, heavily based on Ace Attorney games, where Jirard acts as the defense attorney, trying to defend a heavily criticized game and shine a light on the positives. Opposing him is prosecutor Andrew Campbell, with Jesse Cox serving as judge. Eventually retired. Why We Love Games: Stories Through Gaming - Rather than a review, this series focuses exclusively on personal experiences Jirard and other guest YouTubers have had with the subject game in question. Eventually retired and folded into the main Completionist series. Insert Coin to Play - Jirard and his friends head to an arcade and have fun with the games there. The Completionist FIRSTS - Where Jirard gives a brief first impression of a brand new game, with the explicit intent on not going for 100% completion. Here Comes a New Challenger! - Jirard takes a deep dive at a new game before he's able to 100% it, complete with a unique ratings scale. Due to fan feedback, this series was discontinued and folded into the main show. The Hype - Jirard takes a look at an upcoming game and gives his thoughts on it, usually positive. God of Work - A scripted series made for G4TV, starring Jirard. Essentially a merging of God of War and The Office (US), it focuses on Kratos struggling to work an office job in between his released titles. After G4's closure, Jirard successfully gained the IP rights, but does not have the funds to make a Season 2 as of yet.Originally, Jirard was the owner of a collection of web series called That One Video Gamer, as well as partnered with Polaris. However, he eventually left Polaris after some internal strife and That One Video Gamer was eventually dissolved to just being an alternate brand name for Jirard's business ventures. For the majority of four seasons, the videos heavily featured Jirard's producer and comedic partner, Greg Wilmont (The Mediocre-ist) providing much of the comic relief, and later with Alex Faciane of "The Dex." In early 2015, Greg left the show after a falling out between him and Jirard (alluded to be because of the difficulties in maintaining a friendship while running a business, though neither have said much in regards to the details). In August 2017, Jirard eventually confirmed his falling out with Greg and that sometime after they parted, Greg had requested, and then demanded, that he pull down all the videos featuring the two (that's 120 videos from The Completionist alone and more if you include other videos by TOVG as a whole). In a vlog, Jirard noted that it was a difficult decision and he considered fighting it, but ultimately decided to comply. He then announced that he would recomplete all 120 of those games in a new bi-weekly series called "The Completionist: New Game Plus", finishing that up in 2023. Jirard encouraged his viewers to upload the old episodes and disseminate them before he pulled them, and they can all be viewed here, for free and without ads.In 2021, G4TV was relaunched, and Jirard became one of the first hosts recruited for the new service. He was a constant on both X-Play and Attack of the Show!. Due to his responsibilities for G4, he had to scale back The Completionist to six videos a month (two Wednesdays, four Saturdays), and only appear on Super Beard Bros on the "'Eff it" videos. Once G4 closed down again, he refocused his energy on Completionist and Beard Bros.He frequently streams on Twitch late at night here.

Heroic BSoD: In "Megaman X4", the Season 1 finale, Greg 100%ing Red Dead Redemption and doing a competent review breaks Jirard. It takes Greg sucking at Mega Man X4 to bring him out of it. In his 100,000-subscriber special, Jirard gets invaded and stabbed in the back before he can finish his review of Super Mario 64 and ends up inside of Dark Souls, a game that never ends. In the next episode, after Greg stabs Jirard's Xbox, he comes back to reality to give his final rating for Super Mario 64.

Heroic RRoD: Parodied in the Super Meat Boy episode. Jirard beats the game, and collapses, presumably dead. Greg prepares to take over the show and do the outro... When Jirard wakes up, having just taken a nap. Greg carries on regardless. Played straight in the Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) episode Jirard beats the game's DLC, but at a high cost - he is wiped of all of his memories and starts roaming the earth. However, he snaps out of it when Greg and Alex erase his Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest save file.

Anachronic Order: Not the show itself, but over the course of the series, Jirard has reviewed the first four Mega Man X games (X, X2, X3 and X4) out of order, as Episode 1, 71, 99 and 41 respectively. The original Crash Bandicoot was played long after the second and third games.

Wham Episode: Any of the reviews that are focussed on plot become these compared to the normal reviews. "Super Meat Boy": Jirard completes the game at long last, but not without dying in the process. Greg valiantly takes over the show, declaring himself the Mediocre-ist. Luckily it turns out that Jirard had just passed out, but this episode still marked the birth of the Mediocre-ist. "Red Dead Redemption": Greg actually completes Red Dead Redemption, and Jirard goes completely insane as a result, abandoning his "Completionist" persona completely. "Megaman X4": As Jirard's review becomes less and less coherent, he eventually goes into "Beard Hibernation Mode", rendering him completely frozen and unresponsive. However, when Greg attempts (and fails) the first level of Megaman X4, Jirard breaks out of his comatose state and, after regrowing his beard, gets ready for a second season, becoming The Completionist once more. Meta example: The "Thank You Greg Wilmont" video, which announced Greg's departure from the show. Suffice to say, fans (especially Jirard) were upset.

Luck-Based Mission: Gives a good rant on his Sneak King review. During his second go at the first game in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, he changes his initial rating of a Finish It to a lesser Play It because of this, stating that after the first couple of nights the game becomes painfully luck-based and just isn't worth the anguish for practically no reward for bothering to actually complete all 5/6 nights.

Kill It with Fire: The final fate of Sneak King, Heart of Darkness, Megaman X 3, thanks to Jirard's Demonic Possession, and Sonic '06 through fan videos. This used to be the fate of games so miserable as to be unplayable. However, fan backlash to Jirard actually burning games, and the allusion to burning books, made him reconsider, and "Burn It" is now "Donate It", because someone enjoys it.

Leitmotif
The Completionist (Web Video) / int_9f6fb586
comment
Leitmotif: DK Island Swing. Initially, this song was used during the Completionist Bonus section of each video. After the remodeling, DK Island Swing was used for the entirety the final section of the show—the Reward (a combination of the Completion Bonus and Struggle sections from the old model). Specifically, the version of the DK Island Swing used on the show is the shortened version from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Jirard's favorite video game of all time. The bonus stages where this song played in was a key factor for the existence of the show. After the remodel that began with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, DK Island Swing begins to be remixed into other songs from a few games Jirard completes (such as Metroid: Zero Mission and Punch-Out!!), but other Donkey Kong Country songs are also used (like in DuckTales: Remastered and Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance]). Eventually, the DK songs were scrapped during the final segment of each show, instead using songs from the discussed games themselves. A secondary leitmotif for Jirard is Critical Hit from Wild ARMs. Prior to the remodeling, this song plays throught the Struggle section of each video. After the remodeling, however, Critical Hit was removed from the show due to the Reward section combining the Completionist Bonus and Struggle sections of the show. However, it made a return in the New Game Plus series to bring back nostalgia of the old model of the show, beginning to play as Jirard tallies the statstics of each completed game. However, it was eventually phased out and replaced by DK Island Swing, just like the remodeling of the actual show. Unlike the main series, which phased out the song eventually, the song is still used on this show for nostalgic purposes. Jirard also has a third leitmotif that is heard only rarely. Whenever there's an insane obstacle in the way of completing a game that Jirard needs to discuss, the song Grand Finale from Final Fantasy VI plays as he talks about it. The rare section Grand Finale is in comes between the Battle and the Reward sections of his reviews.

"Red Dead Redemption": Jirard goes insane when Greg actually manages to complete Red Dead Redemption, calling himself "The Comportionist". "Super Mario 64": A mysterious figure appears behind Jirard and backstabs him, trapping him inside Dark Souls. "Spyro The Dragon": Jirard storms off, fed up of Greg making fun of the wings he's wearing due to a lost bet. Then the Xbox 360 that trapped Jirard in Dark Souls appears behind Greg and traps him inside Conker's Bad Fur Day. "Hyrule Warriors": Jirard's arch-nemesis The Internet appears to remind him of his 3-year anniversary and tells him he has put off his long-anticipated review of Skyrim long enough, demanding he review it the following week.

Hype Backlash: invoked Jirard had a miserable time playing Skyrim, mostly because it's open ended nature completely clashed with his style of 100% completion. Lampshaded, when the Internet steals his beard in revenge for his blasphemy. Upon his dreaded revisit to the first game in the Five Nights at Freddy's series, Jirard admits he cut the game a lot of slack the first time around due the teased lore and how it was the new "it thing" at the moment. However, six games deep into the franchise now he's much less forgiving of the game's flaws and reduces his previous rating of a Finish It to a mere Play It, stating that after the first few nights the game turns into an annoying Luck-Based Mission not worth the pain and effort, especially since finishing the five nights doesn't even give you anything (aside from a star on the main menu).

Idiosyncratic Ratings Scale: Jirard uses a rating scale based on how much he feels the game in question is worth investing the time to complete it. The scale, from best to worst, is: Complete it (100% completion is worth it) Finish it (Better to just focus on getting to the end rather than getting everything.) Play it (Meant for on-and-off casual play.) Look at it (Not really worth getting, better to just watch videos of others doing it) Donate it (formerly Burn it) (So niche only a rare few would bother with it.)

Brick Joke: Many. In "Pokemon", Jirard and Alex both wear shirts with colours matching the games they are playing (Red and Yellow respectively). Then Greg walks in, wearing a black shirt despite the fact that he is playing Blue Edition. Jirard and Alex get extremely angry at him, since Alex had to buy a yellow shirt specifically for the occasion. At the end of the episode, Greg can briefly be seen wearing the same shirt with a piece of paper reading "Blue Shirt" taped onto it. In the review of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Jirard was unable to pronounce Agahnim, so Greg suggested to call him Agrabah. Fast forward to Jirard's review of Aladdin's SNES game, and Jirard desides to call the city of Agrabah "Agahnim". It returns once more in the review of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, with Agahnim referred to offhand, as Agrabah. During the Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back episode, after Jirard uses an "Epic Manoeuvre" joke, the guys from Continue? appear on screen in a Codec Call, á la Metal Gear. They mention how Jirard should make an episode on Breaking Bad. Skip ahead to episode 48, and... In the Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) 100th episode special, the side story involving the office trying to free Jirard from the game case brings them to contact the Continue? crew; they decide to not help, claiming Jirard owes Josh twenty dollars. Fast-forward to when Greg tries to convince Jirard to not complete the game's DLC...
