Rebecca "Becky" Quin (born 30 January 1987) is an Irish professional wrestler. After five months of training in Fergal Devitt and Paul Tracey's newly-opened wrestling school, she began working in Ireland in 2002 as Rebecca Knox. She wrestled alongside her brother in mixed tag team matches, but eventually went on to carve her own name, competing throughout Europe and even traveling across the Atlantic to wrestle in the U.S.In 2005, she became the first-ever NWA ECCW SuperGirls Champion in Canada, as well as a one-time Queens of Chaos Champion in France in 2006. Unfortunately, she suffered a cut above her eye in a match in Germany that same year which had severe repercussions, to the point of canceling most of her bookings and cutting her career short in 2008.In 2011, she got back in the game with SHIMMER, managing former rival Sweet Saraya and her daughter, Becky's longtime friend Britani Knight, who would become better known as Paige. A year later, Becky reentered the ring, and in 2013 she signed with WWE to become Becky Lynch. Under her current ring name, she is one fourth of WWE's "Four Horsewomen" (alongside Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Bayley), a cohort of four women who came through NXT and were a major part of the revolution of women's wrestling in WWE through their stellar matches. Her initial happy-go-lucky, Irish-jigging gimmick was poorly received; this led to her receiving a makeover into a steampunk-turned punk rocker persona, which was less stereotypical and truer to her real-life personality. She slowly ascended from a frustrated babyface getting held back on the sidelines (both in kayfabe and in real life) to the sidekick of a legitimate contender in the NXT women's division, to the good-hearted bruiser of the main roster women's division after joining RAW as part of a stable including Paige, to a badass, not-giving-a-crap-anymore antihero when she turned heel against Charlotte Flair on SmackDown, drawing comparisons to a female "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. The initial feud with Charlotte drew her unprecedented praise and attention from the entirety of the wrestling industry, and is now remembered as one of the top female rivalries in WWE history.Lynch went on maternity leave in May 2020 following a pregnancy with Seth Rollins. Their first child, a daughter named Roux, was born on December 4 of that year. They subsequently got married in June 2021, and in August of that year, Lynch returned at SummerSlam 2021 as a heel. After a year-long feud with Bianca Belair, culminating at the the SummerSlam 2022, Lynch returned to her old anti-hero gimmick under Triple H's new management of the company (and after a brief hiatus to recover from legitimately blowing her shoulder out at the show in question). She currently performs on RAW and NXT.Lynch is a four-time SmackDown Women's Champion in addition to being the inaugural champion, both a two-time RAW Women's Champion and the championship's longest holder, a NXT Women's Champion, a WWE Women's Tag Team Champion alongside WWE Hall of Famer (and Lynch's own personal hero) Lita, the sixth WWE Women's Grand Slam Champion, the second-ever Women's Royal Rumble winner, the victor of the first-ever women's WrestleMania main event, and the first-ever woman to hold both the SmackDown and RAW titles simultaneously. It is no hyperbole to claim that she was not only the face of WWE at the height of her popularity, but has gone down as one of the most popular wrestlers of her generation, if not all time, and will be remembered as one of the greatest women's wrestlers to ever live — and that's all before 40.

The Artifact: Subverted. An Irish last name like Lynch fit when she was doing her Oireland gimmick. Now, though, it doesn't really seem to match that of a moshpit (or steampunk) girl. However, her Irish origins are very much still part of her character, in part because of her noticeable accent.

Boisterous Bruiser: Seems to be a core part of her main-roster character. She's portrayed as being far more relaxed and "just happy to be there" than the other members of the roster. Also the continued boast of her being a "life enthusiast" who's there to have a good time and kick-ass.

Heel–Face Door-Slam: Turned face and made up with Bianca Belair at SummerSlam 2022, even backing her up against Bayley's new faction of Damage CTRL. Unfortunately, it was revealed afterwards that Becky had separated her shoulder during the match and had to take a break to recover. She would later be attacked by Damage CTRL backstage and become their first-ever victim as a collective faction. Fortunately, this later became subverted on the November 25, 2022 episode of SmackDown, when she was revealed as the fifth and final member of Bianca's team at Survivor Series.

Good Is Not Nice: Even when Becky is a face, she's still hugely aggressive and will try to make her opponents tap out to submissions. This doubly applies to her persona post-Survivor Series 2018; despite once more falling into the role of a hero, Becky is rough, foul-mouthed (especially by PG Era standards), and cuts an absolutely brutal promo.

The tomboy to Lacey Evans's girly girl in their feud after WrestleMania 35. The two are "The Man" and "The Lady" respectively. With Becky's aggressive persona looking to be groundbreaking in the women's division and Lacey's Alpha Bitch persona that appears to be a throwback to The '40s and '50s, they couldn't foil each other better if they tried. Even better is how this dynamic is fully lampshaded between the two, with Lacey arguing that her mission is to bring "class" back to the women's division that Becky is ruining by being a bad example for young girls, and even making barbs about Becky being a "typical man". Even their attire choices for non-wrestling appearances highlight this dynamic, as Becky's still ready for a fight even when she doesn't have a match while Lacey's non-wrestling appearances usually include high heels.

Aborted Arc: Was supposed to finish a rivalry with Daizee Haze with a 60-minute Iron Woman match in SHIMMER before receiving a career-threatening injury in Germany. She was in the middle of a feud with Emma after WrestleMania 32 which got cut short due to Emma suffering a back injury. Her build towards a match with Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series 2018 was truncated and postponed by a stiff punch to the face by Nia Jax.

From Elimination Chamber 2019 onwards, Becky took to wearing a black tracksuit with yellow stripes (and using wrestling gear modeled after it), which some fans noted looks like a color-swapped version of the yellow tracksuit with black stripes worn by the Bride on Kill Bill (itself a Shout-Out to Bruce Lee wearing a similar tracksuit in Game of Death). Becky herself lampshaded this, sharing on Instagram a picture of herself similar to one of the posters of the film.◊

Tomboy and Girly Girl: The tomboy to Charlotte Flair's girly girl. The two are "The Man" and "The Queen" respectively. While Charlotte is big and tall, both women are muscular and Becky has the more tomboyish personality. Since her 2018 heel turn, Becky has been compared to Steve Austin, with a rough and edgy attitude (even before the heel turn, Becky once did a re-enactment of Stone Cold's famous King of the Ring speech along with fellow male superstars) and wears shirts, dark pants and jeans. Even before her heel turn, Becky was always the "lass kicker" who just enjoyed fighting and wasn't bothered about looking glamorous in front of the camera. Charlotte, especially when heel, has an Alpha Bitch type of personality and often wears attires that sparkle and shine, coming off as a female socialite version of her father Ric Flair. Even their attire choices for non-wrestling appearances highlight this dynamic, as Becky's still ready for a fight even when she doesn't have a match while Lacey's non-wrestling appearances usually include high heels. After spending most of her year-long title reign fighting more feminine rivals (Lacey Evans, Natalya, and Sasha Banks), she finally ran into an inversion against Shayna Baszler, who is more or less her equal in tomboyishness. While Becky may be the "Man" and Shayna the "Queen" (of Spades), Shayna's appearance and thuggish attitude make her seem anything but feminine. Both have generally masculine wardrobes albeit with slightly feminine touches (they both wear strongly visible make-up and the occassional sparkly bit of clothing on their wrestling attires). Both are incredibly butch, violent, in-your-face rough women, and their rivalry, between all the promo threats, sneak attacks, brawls, and even a bitten ear, has essentially come across as a testosterone battle.

Her approach to interacting with the WWE Universe is perhaps best tied together by a tweet from Becky herself:

Distaff Counterpart: She's been drawing some comparisons to Sting in the sense that all of her allies have turned on her and she hardly wins any of her feuds (with one person to turn on her even being a Flair, much like the Nature Boy turned on Sting), eventually leading her to undergo a change of personality from a happy-go-lucky babyface who wore bright colors into a much darker persona who wears mostly black, much like how "Surfer" Sting became "Crow" Sting. In an episode of Ride Along, Ric Flair even told Charlotte that Becky will be "[her] Sting". She's been favorably compared to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin during the second half of 2018, due to being a massive fan-favorite despite being an anti-authority tweener at best. She eventually cemented her mega-face status after getting bloodied but not quitting during a brawl with the entire Raw women's division, much like a bloody Austin's refusal to tap out to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. The comparison becomes even more apparent after Royal Rumble 2019 with Becky feuding against the McMahon family, similar to Austin's legendary feud with Vince. Both Austin◊ and Becky◊ also had memorable moments where they were forced to leave a WWE arena in handcuffs, wearing evil, rebellious grins on their faces. In fact, her triple threat match at WrestleMania 35 seemed to simultaneously mirror two of the feuds that cemented Austin's star status at WrestleMania XIV and XV; facing against both a household name from a non-scripted combat sport who made the crossover to wrestling (MMA's Ronda Rousey for Becky, boxing's Mike Tyson for Austin at XIV) and a multi-generational wrestler pushed by Vince McMahon (Charlotte Flair for Becky, The Rock for Austin at XV). If Charlotte's counterpart is Roman Reigns, then Becky's is Dean Ambrose, the more popular "best friend" of wrestlers that WWE favours more over them. As the Man, Becky and Dean have an anti-authority streak and a take-no-prisoners attitude in order to get back at the person who wronged them. To wit, both Becky and Dean ended up becoming more popular than Charlotte and Roman (though for Dean to do so he has to leave for another company). As far as her contemporaries on the roster, she and Seth Rollins have no shortage of similarities. They both call themselves "The Man," they're both avid CrossFitters, they've both been WWE double-champions, they're the most popular faces on SmackDown and Raw, respectively, and at WrestleMania 35, they both defeated household-name heels from the MMA world for a Raw top championship while wearing black and gold ring attire. To put the icing on top of all that cake, the two are legitimately married and, in a WWE first, co-main-evented a PPV where they defended their respective titles together in a mixed tag match. Her heel "Big Time Becks" run in 2021-2022 seemed to take a lot of cues from Seth as she became increasingly arrogant and unstable and convinced that she was God's gift to Wrestling - and also began dressing in a succession of increasingly garish outfits.

Arch-Enemy: While Becky and Bayley have several minor encounters during their time on NXT and on the main roster, they never really feuded until 2022 when Bayley and her newly formed faction, Damge CTRL, attacked Becky, putting her away for a few months until November. From then on, Becky fought Damage CTRL for months, allying with anoyone she could find until WrestleMania 39. In NXT, Becky initially teams up with Sasha Banks in order to make a name for herself but eventually, the alliance disbands after Sasha's poor treatment towards her. They fought at TakeOver Revolution for the NXT Women's Championship with Sasha coming out the victor. They continue to feud when they arrive on the main roster, first with respective factions, and then for the Divas/Women's Championship. The feud is reignited in 2019, with Sasha trying to claim credit for Becky's success as the Man. After their match at Clash of Champions ended with Becky getting disqualified, they fought again inside Hell in a Cell the next month in which Becky won. While she and Charlotte Flair are close friends both in and out of the ring, Charlotte is also Becky's most heated enemy to date, having feuded with her since NXT. After Charlotte won the Divas Championship and became more and more arrogant, she betrayed Becky with help from her father. The two constantly fought over the title but Becky failed due to Ric Flair's interference. Two years later, the rivalry continues, though this time Becky was the one who turned heel, tired of Charlotte constantly upstaging her and stealing the spotlight that Becky had fought so hard for. For the last four months of 2018, the two fought a total of six times for the SmackDown Women's Championship, with Carmella, Ronda Rousey and Asuka getting involved, and continued even in 2019 and 2021. Initially, WWE opted to have Becky be the Heel of the angle, but because of Becky's massive popularity, a Face/Heel Double-Turn occurred by the end of 2018 with Becky being the Tweener while Charlotte returned to be a Heel. By 2021, the two are no longer friends in real life as well due to personal issues. She also had issues with Charlotte's father, Ric Flair, as well. Initially, in 2016, Ric interfered in his daughter's matches and cost Becky the win. After Becky became a bigger star than Charlotte and calling herself "The Man", in reference to Ric's "To be the man, you gotta beat the man!". The elder Flair considers the nickname being his trademark, accused Becky for using it without permission and begins throwing lawsuits at Becky and WWE. Becky and Ric fought for many years until in 2023 when Ric apologize and relented the nickname to her. This feud also became one of the rifts that strained Becky's friendship with Ric and by 2021, the damage has been done and they are no longer friends. She probably hated James Ellsworth more than any other woman in the SmackDown women's division. Ellsworth had been a thorn in Becky's side for months in 2017, especially after he interfered in the first-ever women's Money in the Bank ladder match and its rematch on the same week, both times Becky almost won until Ellsworth interfered. She finally got her hands on him during a Battle of the Sexes match. At the height of her popularity in the second half of 2018, Becky was scheduled to face Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series 2018 in a Champion vs Champion match. For weeks after Evolution the two exchanged jabs on numerous occasions over who is the better fighter and compared their history to the point they were Foils to each other. A week before their match, Becky led an invasion on Raw and attacked Ronda backstage before beating her up with a steel chair. Unfortunately, Becky had her nose broken by Nia Jax and had to be pulled out from the match, postponing it to a later date. At TLC 2018, Ronda interfered in Becky's match and cost her the title, further elevating the feud. After winning the Royal Rumble in 2019, Becky moved to Raw and challenged Ronda for the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35. Things became a little complicated when Charlotte Flair got involved again and replaced Becky after the latter was suspended by Vince. That said, pretty much the entire IWC treated the "suspension" as 100% work, and fully expected Becky to join Ronda and Charlotte in a three-way WrestleMania main event. And following Fastlane 2019, the three-way WrestleMania match indeed came about, and was officially announced as the main event about two weeks before WrestleMania. The stakes were taken up to eleven when Charlotte won the SmackDown Women's Championship, and a stipulation was added that the winner at WM would take home both belts. Asuka. Until Royal Rumble 2020, Asuka's been the only wrestler Becky couldn't defeat ever since the latter arrived on the main roster in 2017, and it took Becky a lot to bring her down. Bianca Belair, ever since she returned after she took time off due to maternity leave. She squashed Bianca to win the SmackDown women's champion from her at SummerSlam in 26 seconds. Bianca is not happy with the result and the feud continue for an entire year. Initially, Becky has the upper hand but Bianca eventually got her revenge at WrestleMania 38 and so on. By their final bout at SummerSlam 2022, Becky finally acknowledges Bianca as a Worthy Opponent and even snaps out from her Broken Ace period following her loss.

Out of the Four Horsewomen, she is the only one who isn't an outright heel even when she is one. Whereas the other three act as a stereotypical heel (arrogant, cowardly in the face of an opponent, denying challengers a championship match, and typical Kick the Dog moments), Becky instead portrays as a Blood Knight Challenge Seeker who wants to see a different opponent instead of the same one every time. While she acts as a typical heel when she is Big Time Becks, it is portrayed more as an Affably Evil. As seen during her feud with Liv Morgan, she bad mouths her every time but instead of being treated as an insult, it serves as a flame for Liv and to see whether or not she can be a Worthy Opponent for Becky.

Worthy Opponent: After winning her return match, she acknowledged one of her opponents Lucy Lasso as such. Her partner Katey Harvey didn't agree, leading to an immediate Heel–Face Turn from Becky — and eventual mixed tag match against Katey. After a concussion took her out of the Survivor Series 2018 match against Ronda Rousey, she chose her replacement from SmackDown's top female wrestlers. Looking them all over, she quietly said "You" to Charlotte (whom she'd beaten in a Last Woman Standing match barely two weeks before), told her to beat Ronda and make her tap out the way Becky was going to, shook her hand, and then gave her a hug. Averted a few weeks later when their feud continued as Becky didn't consider Charlotte worthy over her title since she was given the opportunity to compete against her instead of earning it. During a backstage interview on the November 27, 2018 episode of SmackDown, she considered Asuka worthy for her title because unlike Charlotte, who was given opportunity after opportunity without even winning a match, Asuka earned her rights by winning a Battle Royal. Accordingly, despite Asuka's victory meaning the loss of her title, the otherwise notoriously savage Becky tweeted a single word to Asuka in Japanese following the latter's victory at TLC 2018: "Congratulations." Furthermore, when she admitted that she'd be relinquishing her Raw Women's Championship to whoever won the women's ladder match of Money in the Bank 2020, Becky stated that she was extremely happy Asuka was getting it, calling her not only her strongest opponent but the best wrestler in the world. She had this relationship with Bayley for a long time: It took a while, but she eventually acknowledged Bayley as such after the latter defeated her to become the #1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. A few years later, Bayley, like Asuka, earns the full respect of Becky after she cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to win the SmackDown Women's Championship belt from Charlotte after Charlotte cheated to take it off Becky herself, even though Becky doesn't keep it a secret that she will one day try to take her title back from her. After losing to Bianca Belair in their rubber match for the Raw Women's Championship match at SummerSlam 2022, Lynch would gain enough respect for Belair to not only shake her hand post-match, but also stand at her side to confront Bayley and her new group Damage CTRL. After losing the NXT Women's Championship to Lyra Valkyria on Halloween Havoc (2023), Becky, while flabbergasted over her loss, personally hands the belt to Lyra and sharing a hug with her fellow Irishwoman and raising her arm before leaving the ring to allow Lyra to celebrate. A far cry on how she reacted when she loss the Raw Women's Championship to Biance Belair a year prior.

Despite being arrogant, aggressive, and an absolute savage on the mic, Anti-Hero Becky loves her fans and respects wrestlers who have earned their opportunities, rather than having them handed to them. For instance, she had this to say to Asuka after the latter took her title at the main event of TLC 2018:

Face/Heel Double-Turn
 Becky Lynch (Wrestling) / int_5296dbd4
comment
Face/Heel Double-Turn: A gradual triple turn has taken place since Evolution in what became a three-way feud for supremacy in the WWE women's division between herself, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair. Initially, the company tried to persist in booking Becky as the dangerous rule-breaking villainess consumed by anger against both Charlotte's fair heiress to the Flair dynasty and Ronda's humble celebrity fighter and lifelong fan, but starting with the initial Face–Heel Turn at SummerSlam having to be retooled into an Anti-Hero because fans refused to boo Becky against Charlotte, Becky's popularity resulted in her sympathy factor being transformed into badass admiration every time she did something, with the iconic image of her defiant bloody face from the night she was injured by Nia Jax while invading Raw making this undeniable. At that point WWE caved in and allowed Becky to be treated by crowds as more of a face; while still willing to do whatever it takes and not caring much about fair play, she was now doing things like hugging Charlotte after choosing her to replace her against Ronda, showing respect to Asuka after she earned her opportunity for the SmackDown Women's Championship, and even being put into a storyline where she defies the McMahon family's corporately-driven concerns ala the beginnings of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's iconic feud with Vince. Charlotte, meanwhile, was booked to snap with a kendo stick attack on Rousey at Survivor Series and continuously show disrespect to Becky, Ronda, and even Asuka, placing her as the heel in this story even before Vince hand-picked her to replace Becky as Ronda's challenger at WrestleMania, while Ronda was continuously placed as a respectful babyface rival to Becky until fans' refusal to give her the same approval as Becky, plus some of the questionable actions she was naturally booked into, resulted in the two having a heated Worked Shoot exchange on Twitter which culminated in Ronda completely losing her patience with the WWE system and returning to the obnoxious psycho-competitor persona of her UFC fame while routinely Breaking the Fourth Wall on the Internet, becoming the dangerous angry heel Becky was intended to be all along.

Book Ends: Becky's journey to becoming the universally-beloved Anti-Hero face of the WWE began with her taking Charlotte Flair's title by way of countering Charlotte's spear into a cunning DDT pinfall. At WrestleMania 35, it culminated with Becky taking the titles off of both Charlotte and Ronda Rousey by countering Ronda's Piper's Pit into a cunning back-slam pinfall. Her win at 'Mania 35 also made it so the show began and ended with one half of an Official Couple of beloved babyfaces both nicknamed "The Man" beating a heel champion who'd also been a big success in MMA. Becky won the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35 by pinning then champion, Ronda Rousey, a member of the Four Horsewomen of UFC, by reversing her finisher into a roll-up pin. A year later at WrestleMania 36, which is also Becky's final match as Raw Women's Championship before her maternity leave, Becky defeated another UFC Horsewoman, this time being Shayna Baszler, in a similar fashion.

Heel–Face Turn: Becky won over the NXT crowd after her gutsy performance against Sasha Banks in NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, and they've been crazy for her ever since. No matter whether you rate Becky as a tweener or a full-on heel since SummerSlam 2018, she put herself officially back on the face side of the fence right before Survivor Series. After fighting through injury on Raw to give Ronda Rousey and the Raw women's team hell, she came back to SmackDown to a hero's welcome and even buried the hatchet with Charlotte again. 100% appropriately, this drew a number of parallels to a bloodied "Stone Cold" Steve Austin turning face after having the living snot beaten out of him by Bret Hart. After she's unable to win back the Raw Women's Championship from Bianca at SummerSlam 2022, she's finally putting this aside as the two finally embraced together in the ring. She's even standing for her against the returning Bayley and her new allies, the returning Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky.

Putting the Band Back Together: Rebecca returned to wrestling in 2011 as the manager of the Knight Dynasty (aka Saraya and Britani Knight, the latter of whom is now known as Paige). Since Becky debuted on NXT, many fans were calling for her and Paige to team up. This would finally come to fruition upon Becky's call-up to the main roster, as she and Charlotte joined Team Paige in the three-way war for control and change in the Divas division.

Progressively Prettier: An understated example considering the PG rating and Women's Evolution and all, but her ring outfits have gotten progressively more on the "sexy" side over time on the main roster. She's introduced shiny leotards, pantyhose, and vests resembling open dresses with slits in place of her steampunk set's earlier corsets with shorts and overcoats. This was somewhat reversed with the gimmick of "The Man", as she would alternate between the aforementioned elegant look and a more rough-and-tumble image consisting of "The Man" tank top and shorts depending on the match.

Jerkass Has a Point: After turning against Bayley on NXT, she explained in a backstage interview that Sasha Banks was right; being a face who's over with the fans wasn't actually stopping her from losing all the time. Given that, since she turned heel, she's been winning a lot more, it's hard not to see her point. Ironically, she ended up once again becoming a face who's over with the fans because of how true she was to her new attitude and how far it took her as a result. Did this again after turning against Charlotte Flair on the main roster in 2018, pointing out that she had earned her opportunity and was ready to ascend to become champion again and prove that she was her own woman, not Charlotte's plus-one, only for Charlotte to rip her grasp on the title out from under her like so many others have done over the past three years.

Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Inverted and subverted. In NXT, she fell victim to the treachery bait around Bayley and turned on her, then eventually made moves against Sasha Banks when opportunities at Sasha's title came her way. On the main roster, she was the schmuck, being betrayed by all three of her partners in a row, Paige, Charlotte Flair, and then Natalya; interestingly enough, these are also second generation wrestlers. Emma also originally presented herself as an old friend to Becky before she too attacked her, must be something in the water. A few years later in 2019, Bayley also betrayed Becky in favor of her friend, Sasha. Then in 2023, she was betrayed by Trish Stratus, whom attacked her tag team partner Lita before their match, costing both of them the Women's Tag Team Championship, and then attacked Becky after the match ended.

Expository Hairstyle Change: Appeared at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable for her Women's title match with bright orange hair. That also coincided with a proper Heel–Face Turn. Likewise, her Anti-Hero repackaging in late 2018 also saw a subtle change in the aesthetic of Becky's hairstyle in that she let it fade from bright orange to a muted, more realistic ginger and started wearing her hair swept asymmetrically to one side of her face, with the other side pinned into sharp Celtic braids.

Denser and Wackier: Inverted at first, where the Oireland gimmick was toned down and phased out to be replaced with a much lower-key mosh pit one. Played straight comparing NXT to the main roster. Of course, she was still willing to get serious so it was downplayed.

Unnecessary Combat Roll: Becky does a lot of rolls to reposition herself around the ring. Where most wrestlers would run the ropes, Becky instead just does a forward somersault. Justified somewhat by her being a tactically-minded grappler that wants more control over her movementnote in wrestling physics, running leads one vulnerable to Irish whip reversals and is generally a risky move, reversals that you can't do to a person who is rolling.

Token Good Teammate: She made her return to wrestling on the heel side of a six-person tag match but wrestled cleanly and turned face immediately afterwards.

Continuity Nod: Perhaps enforced by real life, as despite dropping the Oireland gimmick her legitimate Irish heritage is still subtly referenced. Namely, she's kept the red hair, still incorporated some form of green into her attire on occasion, and eventually got a theme song called "Celtic Invasion". Considering how many times Becky has said hers and Sasha Banks's association was an alliance, not a friendship, Sasha should've seen coming that she would go Starscream as soon as she got opportunities to win the Women's title for herself. Becky would state in a showcase vignette on WWE SmackDown that she aligned with Paige upon being called to the main roster because she's known her since the latter was 13 years old. This is a Call-Back to their past history together prior to WWE. For a clue on that, see Putting the Band Back Together.

The Unchosen One: Many times it was mentioned that prior to the SummerSlam 2018, Becky was a nobody even during her time on NXT, and unlike the other Horsewomen, she was often at the short end of the stick. It is by sheer determination and hard work, strong fan support, a change in her gimmick and challenging WWE's handpicked favorites that forced WWE to not only acknowledge her but to also change the direction of the story. This change can be seen in her WrestleManias 34 and 35 matches, she was in the pre-show in the former and the main event in the latter.

Face–Heel Turn: Her SHIMMER debut saw her go from a polite, hand-shaking, friendly babyface to an obnoxious, arrogant cheater all in the course of one match. On NXT Sasha Banks convinced her to turn heel, which Becky did by attacking Bayley after seemingly coming to her aid. At SummerSlam 2018, after Charlotte Flair pinned her to win the SD Women's title from Carmella, Becky finally had enough of her friend taking her opportunities, snapped, and finally turned on her. Having said that, fan reaction to WWE trying to make her full heel on the SmackDown after the show was poor enough that it was actually dialed back, leading to the Anti-Hero entry above. At SummerSlam 2021, Becky made her return and defeated Bianca Belair in less than a minute after a cheap shot before the match, winning the SmackDown Women's Championship by underhanded means and turning heel for the first time since 2018. The following week Becky refused to have a rematch and then proceeded to mock and attack Belair during the latter's home celebration, cementing her heel turn. However, despite cheating in her return and trying to weasel her way out of matches, Becky proved at Extreme Rules 2021 that she can still wrestle like a valiant hero when pushed, facing Belair again fair and square and running the gauntlet with her for nearly 17 minutes straight until Sasha Banks brutalized both of them and ended the match in a no-contest. In that same match, the crowd were almost perfectly divided between chanting for both women, proving how extraordinarily hard it is for Becky to get too far out of moral grays.

Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Beauty? Well, look at the page image. Brawn? In addition to wrestling, she's a brown belt in shoot grappling. Brains? Has a degree in acting. In PCB she would qualify as the Brains. Paige the Blood Knight would be the Brawn. And Charlotte — who refers to herself as genetically superior — would be the Beauty.

Genki Girl: Especially when letting out her rocker side, particularly seen in SHIMMER as the Knight Dynasty's manager and in WWE since her gimmick change on NXT. Initially after her main roster call-up, she stood out in PCB, with The Stoic Charlotte Flair and Deadpan Snarker Paige as her teammates, her manic gleefullness pops even more. Take this exchange on SmackDown, after she'd won both titles...

You Are What You Hate: A day after TLC 2019, Becky realizes the downside of being the top girl of the company. Now that she is WWE's new golden girl, the system that once prevented her from winning a title is now "protecting" her from losing it by putting her in the tag team division and not letting her defend her Raw Women's Championship for two months. Not wanting to be a Creator's Pet like those she lashed out to for a year, Becky challenged the only person on the roster who she had yet to beat: Asuka.

Shout-Out: Though no one can confirm if this was the intent, someone noted that Lynch's "steampunk" getup evokes Chandra Nalaar from Magic: The Gathering. Also (and perhaps also coincidentally), the hair, in particular, makes her resemble Irisa Nyira from the short-lived science fiction show Defiance (and accompanying video game), which happened to air on the same network as WWE SmackDown at the time. Her wrestling gear in late 2018 heavily resembled the costume of DC Comics hero, Black Canary.

Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Even after repackaging as an antihero in her 2018 heel turn this is one of the qualities she retained. It's actually quite understandable that after being cheated out of the title for so long the very thought of losing it again terrifies her, so she tended to Rage Quit whenever Charlotte looked to be getting the upper hand. But even then, it's downplayed compared to most examples. Most of the time, she runs towards the fight, not away from it, and if she tries to walk off mid-match, it's usually the transition to an extended sequence that takes place away from the ring.

Breakout Character: There's an argument to be made that Becky was 2018's breakout wrestler of the year not just for WWE itself, but for all of wrestling. No other wrestler in the world — not Daniel Bryan, not Kazuchika Okada, not even Kenny Omega — can make the claim that Becky can, to have gone from the very bottom of the card to being arguably the face of their entire company, with entire arenas chanting their name, within the space of a month. Her popularity even makes her the first woman to be on the cover of a WWE video game, sharing the spot with Roman Reigns in WWE 2K20.

Battle Couple: With Seth Rollins in 2019, after WWE put their real-life relationship onscreen. At the time the relationship started, they were the respective top male and female champions on RAW, and it was particularly played up at the Stomping Grounds PPV when Becky came out to beat up Lacey Evans (who she'd already defeated earlier in the night) after Baron Corbin enlisted her as a crooked surprise ref for his Universal Championship match against Seth (since unlike all the other heels Corbin had approached, Lacey was protected by Seth's refusal to hit a woman). As for Seth's refusal to hit a woman? Corbin doesn't have that. During Seth's and Becky's winner-take-all tag match at Extreme Rules against Corbin and Lacey, Corbin attacked Becky with a devastating End of Days, then stopped to taunt Rollins and call him a piece of shit. Seth's response was to frantically beat the ever-loving shit out of Corbin with a kendo stick, a steel chair, and a series of Curb Stomps.

In addition, she was scheduled for a match against a blonde opponent during both reigns, only to be pulled out due to an injury.

Evil Makeover: While less "evil" and more "Anti-Hero", her post-SummerSlam 2018 turn on Charlotte has seen her wear more black clothing with a helping of exposing her midriff when not in her ring gear, as seen here. This was eventually taken even further, as Becky started 2019 by trading out her old ring gear in favor of a black "I Am the Man" tank top and shorts, black-and-white striped socks, and combat boots, creating a less elegant and more rough-and-tumble image overall. The phrase on the tank top was soon replaced by simply "The Man". She kept the fishnets, though.

Morality Pet: Was retroactively one for PCB as a whole. Paige is an aloof loner and Charlotte has the Flair arrogance and swagger, but Becky was always portrayed as a pure babyface who just wants to hang out with her friends and kick ass. In fact, the breakup only got bad when Paige insulted Becky and Charlotte was noticeably far more animated in defense of her than she was in defense of her title win, which was "the most important win of her career". Sadly, fans' growing resentment of Charlotte for being the initial star of the "revolution" due to Flair's influence and for Becky ostensibly acting as her sidekick ended up ruining that.

Composite Character: In her face debut on NXT, she had elements of Sasha Banks and Charlotte when they were first faces: Like Sasha, she was a face who lost a lot of matches, got corrupted by a heel who used the loss record as a lever, and turned heel by attacking an unsuspecting person after a match. And like Charlotte, she was friends with Bayley, got an offer from the BFFs (well, former BFF in Becky's case), and attacked Bayley as her way of joining them.

Determinator: Took a botched punch that resulted in a concussion and facial fractures, only to completely No-Sell the entire thing and return to the brawl, delivering a beatdown to Ronda Rousey and the Raw women's roster before taking a victory march through the crowd, all the while blood is pouring down her face. Becky entered the 2019 Royal Rumble match after a tough battle against Asuka earlier that night. When it comes down to her and Charlotte, the recently eliminated Nia Jax pushed Becky off the stairs, injuring her leg in the process. Despite this, Becky continued to face her former best friend and eliminated her to win the Royal Rumble.

Fanservice Pack: Her flannel gear was quite modest. The steampunk gear shortened the pants by a lot. Subverted, as the steampunk gear tends to cover her midriff a lot more often than the flannel gear did. Later on, she got a leotard that emphasized her curves even more. Her 2021 Face–Heel Turn sees her wearing more revealing (not necessarily sexualized) outfits.

Guile Heroine: Becky is a classic wrestling technician in that she relies less on pure strength or absurd aerial maneuvers to win matches and more on cunning and lightning-quick submissions. Of course, she can still brawl with the best of them (as clearly evidenced by the heading image of her Awesome page above), but Becky's go-to strategy is to endure and use wits to overcome.

Slouch of Villainy: Though the "villainy" part only barely counts, since she became an Anti-Hero almost immediately and then underwent a proper Heel–Face Turn not too long after that, this trope has been a recurring part of Becky's character after her late-2018 repackaging. Emphasizing her rough, cocky demeanor, most seated interviews and spots where she's observing from ringside have Becky lazily lounging in her seat with her championship belt slung over one shoulder.

Earn Your Happy Ending: Becky started 2018 absolutely languishing at the bottom of the Women's Division, slogging through pointless filler matches with other similarly underused wrestlers and never receiving a noticeable push in spite of being a former champion with seemingly invincible popularity with the fanbase until the triple-threat match for the Smackdown Women's Championship at SummerSlam 2018 and the following Face–Heel Turn to Charlotte Flair. What followed was a series of events that cemented Becky as the top woman of the entire WWE, including winning the Smackdown title at Hell in a Cell 2018, the Last Woman Standing match at Evolution, and the go-home Raw episode for Survivor Series 2018 with the broken face. Enter 2019, she's literally at the highest point of her entire career, with a new, cooler Anti-Hero persona, and more over than ever, a second title reign come and gone, and - most importantly - the hard-won respect and faith of the company and even Vince McMahon himself. Becky's unprecedentedly meteoric rocket-jump to the top of the company can really best be summed up by the fact that, on the New Year's special of SmackDown, she not only had the chance to wrestle a mixed tag match alongside John Cena - actually a noted and long-term supporter of Becky's out of character - but was categorically put over by Big Match John not just as a trusted future prospect, but as Cena's potential successor as the face of the company. It even started looking more and more likely that she, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair would main-event WrestleMania 35, to the point where Becky was openly saying this and taking the credit for it on WWE programming as the face in the angle. Not long after, the Rousey–Flair–Lynch match was indeed announced as the WM 35 main event—and more importantly, Becky won, becoming a double champion and ending Rousey's yearlong unbeaten run.

Dude, Where's My Respect?
 Becky Lynch (Wrestling) / int_f818b637
comment
Dude, Where's My Respect?: A central catalyst to her Face–Heel Turn in 2018. When she, Charlotte, and Sasha made their debut on the main roster in 2015, Becky is the only member of the trio (and by the end of the year, the only Four Horsewomen) who had never held the NXT Women's Championship. Eventually, it becomes clear that WWE began to favour Charlotte and Sasha more than her as shown during a press conference before WrestleMania 32 where a set of dolls were introduced as a promo for the upcoming triple threat match, except there were only dolls of just Sasha and Charlotte, completely leaving Becky out despite she was in the match as well. She is the last of the Four Horsewomen to win a championship but after losing it 3 months later, she never had another championship match for eighteen months, from WrestleMania 33 to SummerSlam 2018. In order to get the opportunity for that match, she had to go on and defeat every woman in the SmackDown'' locker room, including then champion, Carmella. However, Charlotte was eventually inserted into the match, after two months of absence, and not long after losing the championship, frustrating Becky. After Charlotte won the match that night, Becky finally reached her breaking point and beat up Charlotte, leading to the aforementioned Face–Heel Turn.

The Dog Bites Back: Becky turns on Sasha at TakeOver: Rival after the latter bosses her one too many times. Becky turned against Charlotte at SummerSlam 2018 after Charlotte constantly upstaged her for the last two years, and the final straw was when Charlotte pinned her during their triple threat match when Becky was only moments from winning the title. Sure, Seth beating Corbin down was fitting revenge for his End of Days to Becky, but she did get to personally pay Corbin back herself by bringing out The Rock to embarrass him and beat him down on the FOX debut of WWE SmackDown.
