Justice League: Last Ride is a seven-issue DC Comics mini-series written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Miguel Mendonça. It's an Alternate Universe story of the Justice League at a moment when they have broken apart due to tragedy.Superman has been having a tough time lately. Day after day, there is always another tragedy, another crisis that he has to avert or else people will die. Even when he is with his wife, Lois, he is plagued by nightmares. And then he gets an alert for an emergency meeting of the Justice League on their Watchtower on the moon. Things are tense, especially between Superman and Batman, until John Stewart shows up, revealing that the Green Lantern Corps has finally captured the most wanted man in the universe, the man who killed the New Gods: Lobo.Hal Jordan insists that the Justice League must hold him in custody until the United Planets try him, but there are plenty of people who are after Lobo in order to kill him. Can the League come together again in order to keep Lobo safe when not even Superman and Batman can agree on things?Because the last time there was a crisis, the Martian Manhunter died.

Logical Weakness: Mongul is a powerful Lightning Bruiser like Superman who's a serious threat to Wonder Woman and Green Lantern in a fight. However, unlike Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, he cannot fly under his own power and needed a jet pack to fight them in space. Cue Wonder Woman destroying his jetpack and kicking Mongul back, sending him helplessly drifting through the cold void of space, with Mongul being unable to get back under his own power to retaliate against them.

Alternate Universe | |
Justice League: Last Ride (Comic Book) / int_8430699a | comment |
Alternate Universe: In this universe, the Justice League broke up after a crisis in which the Martian Manhunter died. There are other differences, too, like the Green Lantern Corps are rebuilding after the Corps fell and Hal Jordan appears to be wearing a version of his Parallax armor, although he's not evil. Oh and Lobo killed all of the New Gods. Hal was possessed by Darkseid.

Justice League: Last Ride (Comic Book) / int_d39e327f | comment |
What the Hell, Hero?: Superman outright states that he blames J'onn's death on Batman. Batman did something that resulted in the Martian Manhunter dying. That something was not stopping J'onn's Heroic Sacrifice, which involved going to Apokolips's energy core to shut it down and save the world, even though Superman himself was preoccupied with Darkseid.
