It reaches a boiling point when he Francis and Thelma drop their car with him and Lois inside into a lake and lie to the kids that they were put in eternal vacation to become their parents and steal Peter and Lois' lives. This leads to Peter snapping at them, kicking the two parents out, and becoming colder, and ready to lash out at everyone and everything. It then becomes Reconstructed when Peter still saves Francis and Thelma from dying when they try to end it all by jumping off the Holy Christ Chruch roof. Making them realize Peter still will love and defend them regardless. The result is that Francis lightens up and apologizes to Peter for everything. | |

"Break a Leg" has Brian, with a broken leg and needing money to pay the rent in his apartment, become a cop. However, compared to Joe, Brian's broken leg got in the way of his crime fighting. With the difference between Joe and Brian was the fact Joe was a cop in advance before he got crippled and had both of his legs crippled. Brian, meanwhile, became a cop with little previous experience and his broken leg is sticking up, making it harder for him to fight crime. | |

Which leads to them getting arrested and charged with fraud and impersonation, and sentenced to community service at the Quahog Acres. After spending Brian's time working at the Suicide Hotline belittling and snidely humiliating him in front of the other workers whenever he messes up, Lance's rudeness toward Brian kind of came back to bite him on the ass in "Brian Come Home for Christmas", where Brian quit his job and the entire suicide hotline went down under because of it, driving Lance to commit suicide of his very own by jumping off the building of his crumbling business. Stewie gets some in "In With the News" as he gets arrested and thrown in jail for rigging the mayor election to make him win. | |

Francis, in turn, gets in trouble for his temper, whether being fired from his job as the Pope’s special assistant and basically being treated worse as a result. Though compared to other examples, it leads to Francis realizing his awful attitude and tries to be a better himself. He still does have his shades of Jerkass, but a lot more downplayed. The 500th episode "Karma's a Bitch" deconstructions the Reset Button and Status Quo Is God, with having all of the Griffins past actions coming back to bite them in the ass. They end up being taken to trial and end up being sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. | |

Teaming up with Peter to set up a Mother's Day (or Wife Day) dinner for Lois and Thelma in "Chick Cancer" Having empathy for Meg, who had the mumps in "Not All Dogs Go to Heaven" Downplayed with Lance Prueher in "Break a Leg". While he does give Brian time off work on account of his broken leg, his dickery still kind of showed through when he hired a monkey to cover for Brian in his absence and the monkey ended up doing a better job than he did. | |
