Alternete Events is a DC Multiverse crossover fanfic series by Cer1992 (Ao3 Link). The basic premise revolves around the idea that, in The Flash Season 2 Episode 18, Barry Allen accidentally travels to the universe of the show Smallville instead of Supergirl while using the Tachyon prototype. Starts with the fic Alternate Events: When Heroes and Universes Collide, which covers the aforementioned premise, as well as a variation of the Arrowverse's crossover event Invasion!, during which heroes from the Smallville universe travel to Earth-1 to aid in the battle with the Dominators. The sequels include Alternate Events 2: One Year Later, Alternate Events 3: Doppelganger Troubles and Other Threats, and Alternate Events 4: Multiversal Clashes, along with side stories A Summary of Pre-Finale Events (Alternate Events 4.5) and Green Arrow Body Swap: Alternate Events Tie-In. The final installment of the series is the Crisis on Infinite Earths-esque fic Alternate Events on Infinite Earths.Although the series starts off as a simple crossover between Smallville and the Arrowverse, other DC TV shows and films such as the DC Extended Universe, DC Animated Universe, The Flash (1990 TV series), Richard Donner's Superman film series, Superman Returns, and many more eventually make appearances. | |

Shortly after their meeting, Earth-1 Oliver Queen is referred to as 'Oliver', while Earth-21 Oliver Queen is called 'Ollie' to differentiate them. When their Earth-192 counterpart eventually appears, he is simply called 'Green Arrow'. Whenever the two are involved in the same story arc, Kara Danvers of Earth-38 is called 'Kara D', while Kara Kent of Earth-21 is referred to as 'Kara K'. Their Earth-78 counterpart, Kara Zor-El/Linda Lee/Superwoman, is referred to as 'Linda' and Earth-192 Supergirl, when she eventually appears, is simply called 'Supergirl'. After her resurrection, Earth-1 Laurel Lance is called 'Laurel-One', while her Earth-2 doppelganger is called 'Laurel-Two'. Once the latter returns to her Earth, both Laurels, since they no longer share scenes together, are referred to by their first name. A non-Multiversal example is the Earth-21 versions of John Jones (Martian Manhunter) and John Stewart (Green Lantern). They are commonly referred to by their last names, making it already easy to distinguish them from other characters named John and their own counterparts. | |
