Fire-Forged Friends: Zeke and Zeb sr finally put aside their decades long grudge while helping put out a literal fire. Zig-zagged with most of the family. They were initially reluctant to help Jack put out the fire (because the automatically assumed it was his fault) and Maddie had to blackmail them into helping. However, once the fire is out and Jack and Maddie return with all of the items that the aliens stole, most of them (bar Alicia, Virginia and Cletus) happily agree with Maddie, Zeke and Betty-Jo to help unload the items from his van while Jack rests. Alicia seems to think (and hates) in the second to last chapter that most of her family likes Jack now for his recent actions. Averted with Alicia, Cletus and Virginia who go right back to being rude to him once the fires out. Insult his weight when he returns with their stuff and have to be forced into helping unload the items. They are irritated how the rest of the family is softening up to him and they leave in disgust. Betty-Jo gets so fed up with their attitude not only does she bar the three from seeing her yet-to-be-born baby but bars them from her house. | |

Because THEY dont care much for city life, they all are convinced that Jack "corrupted" Maddie and changed her so she would marry him and move to the city. When Maddie and Danielle point out that it was all HER choice to do so and say that Maddie always liked science and never cared for the country life, they brush it off. As stated throughout this page, they are extremely spiteful towards Jack for “corrupting” Maddie. Refusing to admit that Maddie was never like them, dismissing Maddie’s claims to the contrary, not respecting her choices because it doesn’t align with their own views and they take any opportunity they can to spite and insult him, to Maddie’s ire. Eventually causing her respect for them to completely dwindle away until the only ones she has any real respect for anymore is Zeke and Betty-Jo. Alicia is extremely rude, not just to Jack, but also Maddie’s children because they are also Jacks, and doesn’t see why her sister takes reasonable offense to that. Near the end of the story, they let their hatred of Jack prevent them from helping Zeke, who is their own cousin, from loosing his house in a fire because they automatically blamed Jack for it and wanted him to do it himself, for no other reason then to give him grief. And Maddie has to threaten them into helping. Even more telling by how spiteful they are is that the Hackfords, who have hated Zeke for years, decides to help out of genuine concern. | |

Adaptational Jerkass: While Sam’s flaws have been more prominent in Neo-Marks stories, this version of her really drives it home. She is portrayed as a rather controlling girlfriend who is uncompromising and makes Danny do what SHE wants all the time. Including forcing him to go vegetarian, among other things. Though we only see Aunt Alicia in one episode, where she openly disapproves of Jack and Maddies marriage too, she had understandable reasons such as Jacks foolishness, obsession with ghost hunting causing him to neglect her (the conflict of the B-Plot was him forgetting their anniversary for the 15th year in a row) and forgetfulness. Aside from that she respects Maddies intelligence and it is also hinted (by Maddie arranging to have her ex-husband in a dunk tank atleast) she might have had legitimate grievances with her ex-husband too. She also argued with her sister that being single and independent is better than being married to someone who causes her grief. Here, her main reason for opposing Maddies marriage is really because she, like the rest of their family, hate the idea of Maddie being married to a city-person, though she still thinks Jack is a fool and resents him for his ghost-hunting (still thinking ghosts dont exist) those seem to just be additional reasons. Also, rather than argue that Maddie would be happier being single, her argument is that she should have married Vlad Masters. Even after Maddie tells her he was a sociopath who saw her as a trophy Alicia still insists, not because she thinks Maddie would be happier, but because she would prefer that her sister be married to someone whose rich and has a place in the country. It's also stated that her marriage didnt work out because of her unwillingness to compromise and she shows nothing but distain to Maddies children as well as Jack. Overall, she is portrayed as being completely unreasonable, spiteful and incredibly stubborn. | |

Alicia can be considered a victim of this. In cannon she disapproved of Jack because he constantly neglected Maddie (forgetting their anniversary 15 years in a row) due to his ghost hunting obsession (nevermind her not believing they exist at the time). She was still nice enough to give Jack vaseline after being injured (abeit begrudgingly) and genuinely wanted what was best for her sister. Here, though she still thinks Jack is a fool for believing in ghosts, mainly opposes Jack and Maddie’s marriage because he’s city-folk. Hate Sink: Due to having more of a presence outside of one episode's B-plot, Alicia is shown with much less enjoyably qualities. As Jazz puts it, she just isn't a good person. She is portrayed as rude, mean-spirited, spiteful, scornful, opinionated, stubborn, ungrateful, greedy and all around unlikable with no consideration for other peoples opions or feelings. Unlike the rest of her family, who hate Jack but still try to be nice (if somewhat condescending) to Danny, Jazz and Danielle because they are still Maddie’s kids, Alicia outright hates them because they are Jacks. She is apathetic to them at best and outright scornful at worst, not appreciating Danielle’s attempts to bond with her or be nice to her and continuing to resent and scorn her even after the young girl saves her life and spends the entire story being a major jerkass to Jack and telling Maddie that she should have married Vlad regardless of the fact that he didnt truly love her and she didnt love him simply because he's rich and because she would prefer she marry someone who keeps her away from the city, regardless of her sisters insistence she wouldn't be happy, brushing it off as her being unwise. Not to mention her continuously saying this infront of MADDIE AND JACKS DAUGHTER! Word of God is that even if Alicia knew about Vlad's faults, including him trying to blackmail the world and what he's done to Maddies children (who Alicia hates because they are Jacks too and keep her bound to him), she still wouldnt care and would continue to insist Maddie should have married him for his money and because his mansion is out in the country. As long as its a guy that keeps Maddie away from the big city thats all she cares about. While Alicia does (in her own way) care about her sister, she cares more about what SHE wants for Maddie (staying away from ghosts and city people) than whether or not her sister would actually be happy. | |

Jerkass: All the McKirk’s have shades of this, being condescending to Maddie’s family for being city people. The older ones also make it clear they don’t like Jack and take any chance they can to insult him. The three most prominent are Uncle Cletus, Aunt Virginia and Aunt Alicia, but that latter of which is the meanest of them all. They even go as far as to blame him for when the goblins attack, simply because he happened to be there when it happened. When a fire happens that would have destroyed Zeke and Betty-Jo's home, they were unwilling to help the Fentons put it out. Though Word of God is that they do care about their cousins, they just couldn't be motivated to help Jack Fenton because they automatically blamed him for it happening and wanted him to do it himself. However, as Betty-Jo points out, they all actually knew Jack didnt really cause the fire and they were just blaming him for it as an excuse to give him grief. Either way, they were letting their own petty spite-fullness towards their in-law prevent them from helping their own family and there is a good chance that Zeke and Betty-Jo would have lost their home, or worse, had Maddie not blackmailed them into helping. Alicia is the worst, being indifferent at best and resentful at worst to Maddie’s children because they are Jacks (who she hates) too. And the fact that they are into ghost hunting too (and still thinking they dont exist due to rejecting the news and being drunk during the disasteroid incident) doesnt help much. They continue to demean Jack even after they work together to put out a dangerous fire (that they assume Jack caused anyways) and Betty-Jo gets so fed up with their spiteful attitude she bans the three of them from ever seeing her unborn child. | |

While most of Maddies family (bar Alicia) atleast try to be nice to her kids since they are still their family too, they still cant stop bad-mouthing their father infront of them and tend to be condescending due to their different beliefs and general attitudes, without seeming to realize that they are being insulting to them too or that they dont like hearing their father be insulted like that. But because they are so stubborn, they just blame any attitude that the kids give them on "Fenton genes". | |
