And Armsmaster must either throw Aegis under the bus or be held responsible for forcing Pisces to violate orders. Either way, the Heberts win. Also, the situation surrounding the PRT's attempts to punish Taylor. Since no punishment can be levied without Danny's explicit approval, and the only thing Danny will approve is (in Piggot's eyes) unacceptable, either they get stalled for weeks with no one giving up or an independent third party acts as a mediator - which allows Danny and Taylor to reveal all the sketchy and potentially illegal things the PRT and Protectorate have been doing regarding Taylor's case to someone that can blow open the entire mess. She uses the fact that her shields activate automatically if she feels in danger to avoid having to go to Winslow, since she can't feel safe there by any means even with her primary bullies gone, so attending would automatically reveal her identity. When forced into a patrol, she keeps her shields up the entire time so no one can see her, answers questions about herself with "No comment" (since Aegis ordered her to say that if she could not say anything else) and then deliberately misconstrues Aegis' order to stop a thief by claiming she thought it was only meant for Clockblocker (and, either way, she was not officially certified to act on that). | |
