General Woundwort's tragic backstory is a combination of it's depictions in the book, the TV show and the Netflix show. He is born, the runt of a litter of five, in Darkhaven to Laurel and Hemlock, but then they are driven out by humans and forced to settle in a new warren. While raiding a garden, Woundwort and his family are attacked by a pair of foxes which scar and blind Woundwort's left eye, and kill every rabbit except for Woundwort, Laurel, and Woundwort's brother Ragwort. The three rabbits are then attacked by a weasel which kills Laurel, but is shot and killed by a human before it can kill Woundwort and Ragwort too. The human then takes the two young bucks in and raises them, but is unable to prevent his mischievous cat from menacing them. Eventually, Woundwort breaks them out, nearly kills the cat and leads them to Efrafa. |
