Deal with the Devil: Mephisto's bread and butter. Unlike his usual shenanigans where he exploits a Loophole Abuse or takes advantage of Exact Words, he's otherwise earnest and follows through on his end with no strings attached. He even makes it very clear to his clients about the consequences of his deals. Robbie Reyes made one at some point in the past with Mephisto. In exchange for giving him the means to get revenge on the Fifth Street Locos who murdered his brother Gabriel, he would be the devil's Bounty Hunter for the forseeable future. T'Challa's deal is one of the most unusual Mephisto's had since all he asks for is the power to protect others. Mephisto flat-out tells him what this deal entails and he may regret his choice. T'Challa retorts that it doesn't matter if the deal bounds him to hell for eternity; if the power of the Ghost Rider can be used for good and save others, then that's all that matters. Taylor accidentally made one three years ago, which is how she became the Brockton Bay Ghost Rider. She prayed for someone to save her friend and mother and was willing to offer anything in exchange. The Ghost Rider took that to mean she was willing to become Zarathos' new host and become a Ghost Rider herself. When Mephisto meets her, he leashes Zarathos so as to make her "a proper employee" of his before offering his deal: he'll remove Zarathos and fulfill his contract with Emma in the process, but in exchange, she has to hunt down and kill the Hellfire Club. | |
