Three bandits walk into a bar. They seek to empty the safe of its gold, but, unfortunately for them, two of the bar's current patrons are two legendary Heroes. The only reason they were all still alive was because one of them was kind enough to raise the bandit's defense so he didn't get instantly skewered by the other Hero's spear.This Hero is Vega de Baol, a Baron of the Jioral Kingdom and son of two of its well-respected diplomats. At age 14, he was chosen by the gods to become a Hero. Unfortunately for him, the class he was assigned to was considered useless and unwanted by the kingdom, even moreso than a Healer: The Support Hero. However, he salvages his situation after meeting two other neglected Heroes. The aforementioned Spear Hero, a hound demi-human named Hachi; and the Bow Hero Kari, the eldest daughter of the King who is mysteriously denied heirship to the throne. Together, they set on a journey that began as a stock "Defeat the Demon Lord" quest, but as the story begins six years later, it has turned to a journey to seek justice for the increasing corruption in their Kingdom, and revenge for the grave injustice it has inflicted on its inhabitants.Side Story of Support (translated into Japanese as Hojo Majutsushi no Gaiden / 補助魔術士の外伝) is a fic written by iBlewupthemoon which intially appears to be a Tamer and Chaster Elsewhere Fic of the infamous Redo of Healer, but by the end of the first chapter, it reveals itself as an Alternate Universe Fic, as Vega subverts events in the original novel's timeline as he begins to realize the existence of a previous timeline that had gone horribly wrong. | |

He first demonstrates this by buying Setsuna, whom he suspects knows something about Harken, the rogue Axe Hero they had been searching for, for the sole purpose of freeing her after they get the information they need, which is made more evident by the fact he shatters the new slave collar he is offered. She only stays with the party when it becomes evident they have a common goal to bring Harken to justice. He more explicitly frees a group of slaves two years prior in chapter 3 after he intercepts a slave trader carrying a group of dark elf women kidnapped from the recently-overthrown Duskhold and initially offers (counterfeit) gold for Sandara before he is convinced by her to free the rest, this time by having Hachi threaten the trader, who instantly chickens out and drops his fake gold. | |
