In 2012, a man by the name of Jon Negroni watched a Cracked video about every Pixar film taking place in a Shared Universe, he became obsessed with the idea, and created quite possibly one of the biggest and most expansive piece of Wild Mass Guessing ever made.Then on July 24, 2013 the YouTube duo known as the Super Carlin Brothers made a video explaining the theory, since then the Pixar theory has exploded in popularity. Negroni has even written a book about it!The Super Carlin Brothers continue to make videos on the theory, adding more and more to it with the post-2013 Pixar films. In 2022, they posted an updated summary of their take on the theory.While every single Pixar movie has some connections to other ones thanks to the dozens of Easter Eggs Pixar hides in them referencing their past (and next) films, fitting all of these connections together into a proper timeline requires some interpretation. It generally goes like this:First, The Good Dinosaur shows us that all species will develop humanlike intelligence given enough time without humans, though they will never adapt as well as humans. Then our story actually starts in The '60s, when Syndrome creates an Artificial Intelligence smart enough to turn on him.note The Incredibles is not always included in this theory, due to superheroes not meshing perfectly into the world and the fact that the Pizza Planet truck doesn't make a cameo like it does in every other Pixar movie. With the release of Lightyear, which is explicitly a movie watched by Andy, this interpretation considers The Incredibles to be another In-Universe movie like Lightyear to explain Incredibles-related cameos in other movies. A.I. does not Take Over the World right away, however, as animals like rats and fish that live without humans are starting to show their intelligence, which Charles Muntz takes notice of, founding Buy-N-Large.In Toy Story, toys are shown coming to life through the power of humans remembering them (or, more specifically, beings with souls); human memories being used as a power source is an aspect of the Pixar universe that becomes important from this point forward. Eventually, A.I. takes over Buy-N-Large and, using humans as power, go on to take over the planet, before eventually taking humans to space and abandoning the planet entirely. While humans are off the planet, cars become sentient, modeling themselves after their former owners, before losing their power source and dying off as humans forget about cars... and also Earth in general, turning it into a planet-wide wasteland. At this point, Wall E's fascination with humans is the only thing left to generate life on Earth, until the events of the movie wherein the humans are brought back.However, the returning humans need to adapt to what the planet has become, turning into monsters. Since they aren't human anymore, they use time-traveling Portal Doors to sneak around during the time that humans inhabited the planet to pull a Monster Façade and scare children. At least, until a certain Boo teaches them that laughter generates more energy. Speaking of Boo, the entire foundation of this theory rests upon the idea that she grows up to be the mysterious witch from Brave. She never forgot about "kitty" and the monster future, and as an adult she discovers the will-of-the-wisps, magic, and the time-traveling portal doors (which are also seen in Brave). The witch has wooden carving of Sulley, as Boo is traveling around time trying to find him. She also has a sculpture of the Pizza Planet truck, which can be found in the background of every single Pixar movie... | |
