Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Most of the problems in the story can be traced back to Aizawa and Toshinori, as they had wrongfully assumed that Bakugou's bullying of Izuku was simply a sign of rivalry, and thus, never once punished him for any of his wrongdoings. As a result, Bakugou grew even more prideful and aggressive due to him never being punished for his wrongdoings, ultimately culminating in him attacking Izuku when he tried to save him, resulting in the League taking Izuku instead. And what's worse, since they never took Bakugou's behavior seriously, his bullying was never recorded, which ends up playing a big part in the Hero Commission accusing Izuku of working with the League to get back at Bakugou, putting his future career in jeopardy. They do realize their errors though and spend the rest of the story trying to make things right. Even though both he and Toshinori wrongfully assumed that Izuku and Bakugou were rivals, Aizawa can be seen as the more guilty one, as it was made clear that he had favored Bakugou due to his skill in handling his own Quirk, and did next to nothing to teach him, thinking that he didn't need much guidance due to it. Inko calls him out on this near the end. | |

The Hero Commission is an even worse example, as their reaction to finding out Izuku's past with Bakugou and how he was kidnapped by the League was to accuse him of being a traitor that wanted revenge on Bakugou, thus threatening to end Izuku's career even though nothing comes out of their claims at the end. And to add further insult to injury, they try to defend Bakugou from being expelled at the end by threatening to cut U.A.'s funding, just because they believe he can become a Top 10 Hero with his Quirk. However, Nezu finds a loophole that destroys all chances of that happening without expelling him. Played Striaght and the Subverted with Toshinori and Aizawa, as they initially do nothing about Bakugo’s behaviour towards Izuku, dismissing it as ‘rivalry’, resulting in Bakugo’s attitude never changing and him continuing to abuse Izuku. After Izuku is kidnapped and the Commission labels him as a suspect for being a traitor, the two men look back at everything and are forced to admit that they were wrong and that they royally screwed up. The rest of the story then deals with them dealing with the consequences of their inactions and their attempts to make things right. | |

Inko would later chastise Aizawa for his failure to better manage Bakugou's abrasive behavior during his time at Yuuei. She even brings up how he has a past of expelling unfit students only to send them to another teacher. She finds it odd how Aizawa never once thought to do the same for Bakugou, and seriously asks him if he only wanted to keep Bakugou because he was 'easier to teach' and 'didn't need much help'. Aizawa is called out again in Chapter 24, this time by his own students for how he handled things with both Izuku and Bakugou.
