Night Shift is a 1982 comedy film directed by Ron Howard, starring Henry Winkler, Michael Keaton, and Shelley Long.Having gotten reassigned to the unenviable night shift at the New York City morgue where he works, mild-mannered Chuck Lumley (Winkler) struggles to get along with his new assistant, the exuberant and downright wacky Bill Blazejowski (Keaton, in his Star-Making Role). Meanwhile, Chuck's neighbor Belinda Keaton (Long) is a Hooker with a Heart of Gold who's struggling to get along since her pimp was murdered. Chuck's Good Samaritan efforts to help Belinda and Bill, and the latter's penchant for Zany Schemes, eventually lead to them running a prostitution ring out of the morgue. Hilarity Ensues.Gina Hecht plays Chuck's boring, nagging fiancée Charlotte. Shannen Doherty made her film debut as one of the "Blue Bells" (Girl Scouts) that attack Chuck. Kevin Costner can be seen, in his second film role, as one of the drunk frat boys at the party. Richard Belzer plays one of the two goons that killed Belinda's first pimp, and who eventually come after Chuck.No relation to Stephen King's Night Shift. | |
